This study investigates the effects of demographic factors of the logistics firms' employees (gender, age, education level, experience level, and department) on their job satisfaction and the effects of demographic factors of the logistics firms (company type, capital nature, and company experience level) on their performance of logistics activities about information technologies, interior relationship, and transportation based on the scale developed by the same authors and the sample of 39 logistics firms selected randomly in the city of Mersin and Adana in Turkey. According to findings, none of the demographic factors of the employees does aft~ct their job satisfaction. In terms of the demographic factors of the logistics firms, their experience level in the field is found to be significant in their logistics activities about information technology. In general, as the firm's experience increases, they perform better on information technology.  相似文献

Workplace isolation has been recognized as a critical issue in organizational theory. Studies have found that employees who felt isolated might also show low performance in their organizations. However, there is very little empirical research about the relationship between perceived isolation and job performance, and most of the studies were conducted on salespeople working in the virtual offices. In this study, it is aimed to investigate the relationship between workplace isolation and job performance in terms of productivity and emotional outcomes of carpet weaver women. In order to do this, job performance of a sample of 238 employees who were exposed to a radical workplace change was analyzed. The means of the performance variables before and after five years of the workplace change were statistically compared via paired sample t-tests and the results indicated significant differences between pre and post means of the performance variables. A qualitative research was also carried out through a number of in-depth interviews with the carpet weavers to enrich the breadth and depth of the findings. Findings of the qualitative study replicated the results of the quantitative study that monotonous and unsocial working conditions lowered the job performance of the employees.  相似文献

This study uses an unbalanced panel data analysis to examine the effects of social capital, top executive attributes and R &D on firm value in Chinese small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange Small and Medium-sized Enterprises Board from 2007 to 2011. There are several interesting findings. First, the gender (male) and academic degree of the chairperson in the SMEs have a positive and significant effect on firm value. Second, social capital (measured by politieal connections, managerial business association networks and technology association networks) and R&D have a positive effect on SME firm value. Third, the effect of politieal connections on firm value for state-owned enterprises (SOEs) is stronger than for non-SOEs, while the effect of business and technology networks on firm value for non-SOEs is stronger than for SOEs. Our study has important policy implications for SMEs that want to compete successfully in China.  相似文献

Currently, in Europe, 98.9 percent of all enterprises are small and medium size enterprises (SMEs) which employ 52 percent of all employees. This means that l.1 percent of all enterprises employ 48 percent employees, among whom the multinationals have the biggest and most global influence. But the biggest number of new jobs is provided by the micro-enterprises which employ 23 percent employees. In central and eastern European countries, SMEs are rather a recent feature, but in terms of numbers they are coming close to figures of most development countries of EU. How entrepreneurial are these new SMEs? How innovative are they, including undertaking appropriate development? This paper discusses two issues: (1) Improving SMEs' competitiveness by becoming sustainable enterprises to requisitely, holistically meet requirements in social/business environments; (2) Improving business by helping SMEs' members understand/implement "sustainable-enterprise ethics". This paper uses a sample of Chinese listed companies whose controlling shareholders have changed from government agencies to state-owned enterprises' (SOEs), to examine whether reducing government intervention while maintaining government's ultimate control could improve firm performance. The results show that the overall performance of these firms improves after the transfer of their controlling shareholders, due to improvements in both operating and non-operating performance. When we separate all samples into solely SOEs and other SOEs based on the controlling shareholder, we find that operating performance improved significantly in the solely SOE group, whereas non-operating performance improved significantly in the SOE group. In addition, we identify sources of performance improvement from two perspectives: corporate governance and related party transactions. The results imply that the Chinese Government should continue to decentralize control and, at the same time, continue to monitor firm operating efficiency.  相似文献

The work insertion social firms have grown in the last decade in Spain. The aim of this work is to help unemployees and workers with several problems (being in prison, drugs...) to start in "normalized" companies as workers. The aim of the paper is to analyze the success of work insertion social firms defined by social and commercial dimensions. Using a sample of 49 companies in Spain, the authors have developed an explanatory model in which the doubt about the success of these companies is explained. This paper seeks to analyze the main problems of the poor financial situation of companies that are based on social help. The scarce resources put into the enterprise include material assets and human resources. Different human resources have different degree of asset-specific, which will determine the governance structure. Design of motivation is a key factor to governance. The single method of motivation cannot motivate the enterprise's employees effectively because of the complexity of human resources. Customer loyalty has already aroused the extensive attention of the marketing area, but it has been ignored by numerous enterprises in cyber-marketing. Therefore, establishing online customer loyalty and emphasizing the cultivation of loyalty is a new subject for enterprises during their cyber-marketing implementation. This study examines the contractual relationships from a managerial point of view by a sample of 55 family firms in an industrial zone in Turkey. The results show that the type of contract (i.e., behavior or outcome-based) is not affected by a professional manager's tenure, position and his/her education level. It is also presented that the type of contract does empirically not have a relationship with information asymmetry and risk taking/uncertainty in a family firm setting. Furthermore, its relationship to goal conflict and job complexity is weak and negative, which necessarily means that any increase in goal conflict or job complexity requires an outcome-based contract to be written between an owner and a professional manager. Yet, only goal conflict is significant in explaining the type of contract. From the managerial perspective, these findings imply that the agency theory is not suitable for relatively small family firms.  相似文献

The competitiveness of the enterprises is the talent competition. "Talent" more often refers to "knowledge workers", the pillars of the enterprises is composed of knowledge workers. Loyal knowledge employees can enhance the core competitiveness and cohesion of the enterprise. From the Nash equilibrium theory perspective, this paper constructs the mutual loyalty model of knowledge workers and enterprises, analyzes the strategy of choice of knowledge workers and enterprises, gets a balanced strategy of pure and mixed strategy of the Nash equilibrium, and gives some proposals in increasing the mutual loyalty between knowledge workers and enterprises.  相似文献

In the published literature, the differences in environmental performance across countries are typically explained using the Environmental Kuznets Curve. The Environmental Kuznets Curve states that pollution initially increases with economic growth. Once GDP per capita reaches a certain level, the relationship reverses. In the present paper, we provide an alternative hypothesis, where budget structure plays an important role in explaining the variations in pollution across the world." the lower the business-related taxes as a share of total tax revenue, the higher the property tax in total tax revenue and the higher the ratio of public health expenditure in total expenditure, then the stronger the incentive of pollution control and the lower the pollution level. Our empirical findings reveal that the budget structure does have an important impact on pollution control. The policy implication of this research is that effective control of environmental pollution requires changes in tax structure and expenditure assignment. This research has important policy implications for China "s tax system reform and pollution control efforts.  相似文献

The purpose of this research is to test social capital as a moderating role in the relationship between organizational justice (distributive & procedural) and (personal & organizational) outcomes within the two-factor model. The two-factor model is a concept introduced by Sweeney and McFarlin (1993) who explained that distributive and procedural justices have different influences on outcomes. In the two-factor model, the effects of distributive justice on personal outcomes are more dominant compared with procedural justice. On the other side, procedural justice will be more accurate to predict the organizational outcomes compared with distributive justice. This model is based on U.S.A. setting research. Empirically, that model is not always supported in the field. The different empirical results indicate that the model is not universal cross population, but more dependent on individual differences. Based on theoretical studies, social capital is the individual differences that important in explaining human in cognition and behavior. This research is done in Indonesian setting where the researcher gathered 426 samples of full-time private university employees in Yogyakarta. In general, the result supported the hypothesis that high or low social capital will make differences in the relationship between organizational justices and personal organizational outcomes.  相似文献

The frequent turnover of employees will affect the daily business activities which are not beneficial to improve the economic efficiency of the hotel; The hotel recruitment costs are also increased. This paper analyzes the hotel recruitment risk from three aspects: selection risk of recruitment channels, professionals assessment risk and recruitment agency risk.
