土豆网（toodou．com），一个近日来备受关注的本土播客网站，在很短的时间里，发展到了16，000个频道，50，000浏览／每天，15万注册用户。从国外播客网站YouTube的巨大成功来看，以土豆网为首的国内视频网站大有掀起一股互联网高潮的趋势。然而，就在形势一片大好之时，有媒体报道，广电总局目前正在制订新的互联网视频管理条例，目的是对视频网站放任自流的违规现象进行“围剿”。     

CEO turnover and shareholder wealth: Evidence from CEO power in Taiwan

This paper investigates the relationship between CEO turnovers and shareholder wealth and/or the volatility of firm performance, and examines whether CEO power matters in this relationship. Successors tend to possess less power than predecessors. The announcement effects of CEO turnovers present higher abnormal returns for turnovers in which predecessors and successors share a similar power level and a lower volatility for turnovers in which successors have less power. Volatility is lower and liquidity is higher when CEO turnovers involve successors with less power.     

Investigating conflicting online review information:evidence from Amazon.com

This paper investigates the conflicting online review information in terms of its effect on purchase intention of individuals, and the sales rank of products on Amazon.com. The first study used a within-subject experimental design, while the second study used real-world data on 6816 items in the Shoe category on Amazon.com. Findings show that the effect of both volume and valence is dependent on valence range such that volume had a significant effect on purchase intention only when valence hit the medium range, and showed no effect when valence was low. Furthermore, valence only showed an effect at low and high ratings.     

Measuring Prices and Price Competition Online: Amazon.com and BarnesandNoble.com

Despite the interest in measuring price sensitivity of online consumers, most academic work on Internet commerce is hindered by a lack of data on quantity. In this paper we use publicly available data on the sales ranks of about 20,000 books to derive quantity proxies at the two leading online booksellers. Matching this information to prices, we can directly estimate the elasticities of demand facing both merchants as well as create a price index for online books. The results show significant price sensitivity at both merchants but demand at BarnesandNoble.com is much more price-elastic than is demand at Amazon.com. The data also allow us to estimate the magnitude of bias in the CPI due to the rise of Internet sales.     

消费者保障计划的有效性研究——基于C2C网上交易的实证分析

为缓解网上交易的信息不对称问题,提高交易者之间的信任度,淘宝网在2007年3月率先推出一系列的消费者保障计划。本文利用淘宝网的交易数据,对其中的先行赔付计划及7天无理由退换货计划的有效性进行了实证研究。结果表明,消费者保障计划确实增强了交易者之间的信任度,提高了网上交易的成交概率,增加了消费者福利,并且相比信用评价系统,其作用显得更为重要。在一定程度上,消费者保障计划与信用评价系统是相互替代的关系。     

中国资本市场30年:探索与变革

HomeGrocer.com: Anatomy of a failure

This case study examines the initiation, financing, development, and failed merger of an ambitious online grocery retail venture: HomeGrocer.com. It highlights the risks and challenges associated with developing a revolutionary venture. Even though the HomeGrocer.com team did many things right developmentally, some key errors and unfortunate timing resulted in them expanding too quickly and running low on cash. It also forced them to make a tough strategic decision about whether to scale back operations and renege on their IPO commitments or merge with a well-funded competitor, Webvan. The case discusses lessons that can be learned from business failure.     

The effects of eWOM characteristics on consumer ratings: evidence from TripAdvisor.com

Abstract

Given the rise of online review communities, the management of consumer ratings has gained much attention in the recent years. In this study, we use data from Tripadvisor.com and examine the number of stars that a review receives. Specifically, we address how a star rating is determined by the components in the focal review as well as the preceding reviews of other consumers. Our qualitative and quantitative analyses provide interesting findings as follows. A star rating has a positive relationship with the focal review’s valence. That is, the more positive a review is, the greater number of stars a review receives. The reviews of other consumers also play a role in determining a star rating of the focal review suggesting social influence among consumers. Interestingly, a review with lengthy content leads to a lower star rating only when using smartphones. We conclude with theoretical and managerial implications.     

P2P网络借贷中的婚姻歧视现象——基于"人人贷"的经验数据

近年来,随着P2P网络借贷在我国的快速发展,借贷关系中的歧视现象开始受到关注.本文利用P2P网络借贷平台"人人贷"的数据,从借贷双方的角度出发,对P2P网络借贷中的婚姻歧视现象进行实证研究.结果表明:P2P网络借贷中存在贷款人对借款人的婚姻歧视,表现为已婚借款人的借款成功率显著为高,离异借款人的借款成功率显著为低;借款人受到婚姻歧视的影响,在发布借款订单时,已婚借款人设定的借款利率显著为低,离异借款人设定的借款利率显著为高.进一步对婚姻歧视的异质性进行研究,发现婚姻状态对不同信用等级、学历、收入、地区、资产、借款期限借款人的影响各不相同.
