This paper presents an argumentation-based framework for the modelling of, and automated reasoning about multi-attribute preferences
of a qualitative nature. The framework presents preferences according to the lexicographic ordering that is well-understood
by humans. Preferences are derived in part from knowledge. Knowledge, however, may be incomplete or uncertain. The main contribution
of the paper is that it shows how to reason about preferences when only incomplete or uncertain information is available.
We propose a strategy that allows reasoning with incomplete information and discuss a number of strategies to handle uncertain
information. It is shown how to extend the basic framework for modelling preferences to incorporate these strategies. 相似文献

Exploring Research Potentials and Applications for Multi-stakeholder Learning Dialogues 总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
Varying conceptions of and purposes for dialogue exist. Recent dialogic theorists and advocates urge exploration of forms of dialogue for learning and applying relational responsibilities within stakeholder networks. A related phenomenon has been the recent emergence of multi-stakeholder dialogues that involve parties significantly affected by major issues or concerns, such as environmental sustainability, that have complex and wide-spread implications. The extent to which these recent multi-stakeholder dialogues assume anything resembling the relationship or caring and the learning potentials of dialogic goals and processes suggested by recent advocates, however, can certainly be questioned. This article explores potential directions for research on enhanced forms of multi-stakeholder dialogues that emphasize goals of dialogic learning, relationship building, and business social responsiveness within a more reflective practice of corporate citizenship. Many issues and questions concerning appropriate antecedents, processes, and outcomes for these enhanced multi-stakeholder dialogues are raised and discussed. 相似文献

The research results on group consensus have been ambiguous within the field of Group Support Systems (GSSs). Some research studies have shown that groups using multiple communication channels produce more ideas, and more unique ideas than groups using a single communication channel. In addition, a second set of research findings have shown that groups using GSSs report group members hold less consensus with the group's decision. This research studies more closely how these two characteristics; communication channel and consensus, interact. Specifically, can less consensus be a function of the choice of channels used in problem solving. The results show that groups using a single communication channel generate more actual consensus than groups using multiple communication channels. Furthermore, the single channel discussions provide more integrative comments and these integrative comments may help explain the difference in consensus. These results suggest that those striving for consensus from group members should consider production methods used to create the information that is to be used in the decision. 相似文献

The popular view of shareholder activism focuses on shareholder resolutions and the shareholder vote via proxy statements
at the annual meeting, which is treated as a “David vs. Goliath” showdown between the small group of socially responsible
investors and the powerful corporation. This article goes beyond the popular view to examine where the real action typically
occurs – in the Dialogue process where corporations and shareholder activist groups mutually agree to ongoing communications
to deal with a serious social issue. Use of the capitalized word “Dialogue” is intended to distinguish this formal process
between corporations and shareholders from all the other forms of dialogue or two-way communication exchanged between a corporation
and its stakeholders. The phenomenon of Dialogue between a corporation and dissident shareholders has not been analyzed in
the academic literature or in the popular press because it occurs behind the scenes and out of sight from media scrutiny.
Yet this is where a great deal of social change initiated by shareholder activists is negotiated. This article contributes
both theoretically and empirically to the study of Dialogues between shareholder activists and corporations. We explain how
Dialogues occur in the context of the shareholder resolution process and examine two Dialogues that focus on international
labor issues in two industries. Then data on Dialogues during the period, 1999–2005, from the Interfaith Center on Corporate
Responsibility are analyzed. This research contributes to knowledge about the Dialogue process and the emerging literature

The shift in corporate strategy, from vertical integration to strategic alliances, has developed hand in hand with the evolution of organizational structure, from the vertically integrated firm to the network organization. The result has been the elimination of boundaries, more flexible organizations, and a greater interaction among individuals and organizations. On the negative side, the specialization of firms on single areas of competence has resulted in the disaggregation of the value chain and in the disaggregation of ethical and legal responsibility. To illustrate this point, the paper considers some cases, such as the case of the "beer girls" of Southeast Asia, who are used unethically by distributors to sell beer and liquor. To deal with the problem of the disaggregation of ethical responsibility, managers can use organizational culture and ethical values to control the performance of employees and of other organizations. Contemporary developments in business ethics also offer tools for dealing with the problem. For example, "global corporate citizenship," integrated social contracting theory, and stakeholder learning dialogues provide ways of integrating the interests of all stakeholders. The task is now to use these new approaches to create a governance process that incorporates the voices of all stakeholders, especially the voices of those stakeholders that have legitimate and urgent moral claims, but lack the power to establish those claims. 相似文献
