保监会近日批准美国佳达再保险经纪有限公司（以下简称“美国佳达”）设立独资保险经纪公司——佳达保险经纪（北京）有限公司,注册资本金为1000万元,成为国内第三家外资独资保险经纪公司。该公司获准在国内除港澳台之外的其他地区开展大型商业险经纪、再保险经纪和国际海运、空运和运输保险的再保险经纪等业务。

Stock market anomalies and baseball cards

Baseball cards exhibit anomalies that are analogous to those that are documented in financial markets, namely, momentum, price drift in the direction of past fundamental performance, and initial public offering (IPO) underperformance. Momentum is higher among active players than retired players, and among newer sets than older sets. Regarding IPO underperformance, we find that newly issued rookie cards underperform newly issued cards of veteran players, and that newly issued sets underperform older sets. The results are broadly consistent with models of slow information diffusion and short-selling constraints.

Foreign debt supply in an imperfect international capital market: Theory and evidence

We investigate the determinants of foreign borrowing costs in a stochastically growing economy. We find that these increase with the debt-wealth ratio, depending also upon the volatilities of domestic and foreign origin, and the length of debt contract. In addition, the sensitivity of the short-term debt supply to the debt-wealth ratio exceeds that of long-term debt, and the effects of volatility on the borrowing premium, growth of wealth, and its volatility, depend on the relative size of a direct effect and a secondary portfolio-adjustment effect of the initial shock, as well as the length of the debt contract. Panel regressions suggest that the empirical evidence generally support the theoretical predictions.

Information and institutions in the capital market

In the capital market information and institutions are logically coordinate concepts. The paper argues that it is impossible to derive a complete view of the role played by capital market institutions without constructing a theory of information, a theory of institutions, and a theory of how the two are related. Consideration is given to existing epistomological and methological approaches to information and institutions. On this basis a new approach is outlined and its relevance to accounting demonstrated by analysing one major problem currently facing the accounting profession.
