This paper assesses the effects of the most recent monetary policy behaviour of the Bank of Japan (in particular, zero interest rate policy and negative interest rate policy) and Japanese tax policy on income inequality in this country during the period of 2002Q1 to 2017Q3. The vector error correction model (VECM) that develops in this research shows that increase in money stock (m1) through Quantitative Easing (QE) and Quantitative and Qualitative Easing (QQE) policies of the BOJ significantly increases the income inequality. On the contrary, Japanese tax policy was effective in reducing the income inequality. Variance decomposition results show that increasing of income inequality by monetary policy is larger when comparing to decreasing effects of tax policy on income inequality. Cointegration and VECM results show that monetary policy has both short-run and long-run impacts but for tax policy paper could not find any significant short-run impact on income inequality. In addition, paper found that technological progress only in long-run can reduce the income inequality by increasing the marginal productivity of labour with positive impacts on employment and wages.  相似文献

Offshore centers have come to play an important role in the institutional structure of international financial markets. The article identifies two dimensions of dynamic competition that are relevant for an analysis of the offshore center phenomenon. First, there is competition between the offshore centers and one or more domestic financial markets. Second, there is dynamic competition among the offshore centers. The system of offshore centers generates a three-tier structure of international financial markets: domestic, foreign traditional, and offshore markets, both with respect to financial intermediaries as well as securities markets. This structure constitutes the institutional base for trends in the international financial markets which result in a process of increasing globalization.  相似文献

本文探讨了以下几个问题:收入差距的基本情况、当前收入分配差距的估计结果、针对当前有关中国收入分配差距的一些估计上存在的争论以及对当前收入差距扩大问题的看法。本文指出,对待当前收入分配以及收入差距扩大的问题,要坚持两个原则:第一,应看到收入差距扩大和收入分配不公是不同的问题。第二,城乡收入差距有其历史的原因,应从历史角度来看待和理解当前的收入差距,才能在政策制定上有更加科学的考虑。  相似文献

This paper aims to examine the influences of personal attributes of salaried customers, product transaction strategies, and sales personnel as three dimensions on the profitability contributed by customers in the wealth management business of the banking industry. The multiple regression analysis is performed for an empirical test. The results show that four variables, i.e. the quantity of the products held, purchasing frequency of investment products, level of financial advisers, and degree of customers' satisfaction have significantly positive influences on the profitability contributed by customers. This paper provides a reference for the financial industry to formulate the management strategies targeting at the optimal customers in wealth management.  相似文献

Television advertising for financial services accounts for over one-third of total financial services advertising expenditure, yet there is evidence to suggest it is not very well done. Given the difficulties advertisers have to overcome in terms of promoting an intangible product in accordance with tight restrictions on advertising content and format to a largely uninvolved audience, it becomes all the more imperative to study how viewers judge financial services commercials. This paper presents the findings of a study which seeks to establish which elements, if any, of a financial services commercial first make it likeable to its target audience, second motivate the viewer to seek more information about the service being advertised and, third, have an effect on the image the viewer has of the advertiser. Some interesting findings from the research point to the similarities between the emerging factors for viewers' affective reactions to fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) and financial services commercials and the extent to which likeability mediates the influence which advertisement execution features have on subsequent behavioural intentions.  相似文献

This study explores the impact of corporate governance on financial control by studying manufacture industry. Results show that factors such as the percentage of shares held by the controlling shareholder, independent directors system, and the degree of activeness of the board of directors all have marked influences on financial control. This paper investigates the effectiveness of using direct mail message as an element in the communication mix of a financial retail company. The focus in this study will be on interpurchase time, i.e. duration times between the last purchase of any type of financial service by a customer at that bank and the purchasing of a personal loan.

Our findings indicate that (1) direct mail message have a very significant effect on shortening the interpurchase time, (2) the combined effect of several direct mail messages exhibits diminishing returns to scale, (3) incorporating time-varying variables in the model significantly improves model results, (4) Ownership of certain other services has a significant impact on the probability of purchase of the personal loan, and (5) conditional probability of purchase is found to increase with time elapsed since last purchase. The latter finding shows that the receny effect, known to be very important in most RRM models, may to dependent on the product category.  相似文献

Although expenditure on wages represents a major element of costs in financial services firms, there is a dearth of studies analysing wage levels in the sector. This paper examines reservation wage levels in the sector by utilising maximum likelihood selection and stochastic frontier methodologies in two leading European economies: UK and Germany. Our results show that wage achievement is higher in the UK than Germany. At first glance, this seems counter-intuitive, given that actual wage costs and the overall cost–income ratio is higher in Germany than the UK.  相似文献

The Great Recession of 2008–2010 affected the global and U.S. economies and its companies more universally than any economic downturn since the Great Depression. This study explores how the Great Recession influenced the marketing decisions of firms and the resulting long-term effects on marketing within business-to-business companies. Empirical evidence from previous recessions suggests that companies should focus on their customers and increase their marketing efforts during a recession. However, many companies typically slash their marketing budgets during economic downturns. Authors found that during the Great Recession, companies reacted differently than in previous recessions with their marketing responses. Authors conclude their analysis by proposing that the Great Recession will have three long-term effects on marketing in business-to-business companies.  相似文献

The cost of the financial crisis to the real economy has so far remained underexamined, probably because of the difficulty in making such an assessment. The crisis was precipitated by an unsustainable bubble that artificially inflated economic figures, so what should be used as a benchmark for measuring the effects of the crisis on the real economy? How reliable are current estimates of the output gap? Could overestimating this indicator lead to underestimating the current risk of inflation?
