本文根据对互联网上显示的 2 0 0 0年全美前十名大学学者的研究兴趣的观察 ,发现旅游研究已经逐步渗透到这些顶级大学 ,表明旅游研究已经登上世界学术研究的大雅之堂。这些顶级大学的研究领域主要涉及文化旅游及其影响、旅游人类学、生态旅游、太空旅游、户外游憩与解说、旅游文学、自然资源保护、旅游规划设计等。  相似文献

随着教育体系的不断完善,许多高校开始重视实践教学体系的地位和作用,但大多数高校的旅游管理专业,面临着实践教学师资力量匮乏、实践教学目标不够明确、校内实践教学设施设备紧缺、实践课程设置不合理、校外专业实习层次不高、校企合作缺乏有效的动力机制等问题,导致旅游管理专业实践教学质量难以保证。因此,构建旅游管理专业协同创新实践教学体系,推进旅游院校与旅游酒店企业协同创新,对提升旅游管理专业人才培养质量,更好地满足旅游行业发展对高素质人才的需求,意义重大。  相似文献

As higher education institutes are embracing the notion of graduate attributes, it has become highly desirable to embed these attributes within programmes. This study proposes to investigate students’ views of recently identified graduate attributes in the Dublin Institute of Technology (Ireland), and how they perceive their development and application in their tourism programme. The study supports the idea of the importance of placement in the progressive adaptation of learning and in translating the conception of attributes. While students strongly believe that graduate attributes are developed through the placement experience, it is equally important to embed and strengthen the visibility of the graduate attributes building blocks throughout the programme.  相似文献

The booming Chinese outbound tourism has attracted worldwide attention. This study attempts to examine Chinese tourists’ expectations of outbound travel products. A series of focus groups were conducted in eleven cities in China and various issues, concerns, and problems were identified related to Chinese outbound tourists’ expectations of accommodations, food and restaurants, tour guides and itineraries, entertainment and activities, and transportation. The focus group results showed that, while Chinese outbound tourists share many of the same fundamental needs and desires of all tourists, this group has particular expectations in terms of amenities and service standards. Understanding these expectations may help Western service providers better serve this market.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

The aim of this article is to increase understanding of the process of curriculum design when incorporating an international dimension into a curriculum in higher tourism education. The process of the internationalisation of the curriculum design is investigated against a theoretical basis and described from a practical perspective by presenting a case from the Central Baltic Area. In this case, the purpose of the internationalisation of the curriculum is to provide an aligned skillset and knowledge necessary to support the development of the Central Baltic Area as a common tourism destination. First, a relevant and mutual skillset was identified by reviewing the existing curricula (N = 17) and national tourism strategies and plans (N = 3) as well as by interviewing representatives of tourism organisations (N = 103). Then, the identified skills and knowledge were translated into a joint curriculum and teaching processes.  相似文献

This paper focuses on how the First World War (WWI) is seen by Canadians (n?=?194) and Americans (n?=?257) today. The primary focus of this paper is on the factors that shape Canadians’ and Americans’ memories of WWI and the influence of these factors on their intentions to visit WWI sites in the future. In addition, it also examines their first thoughts on WWI, how they describe WWI sites and why they think memories of WWI should be kept alive. Results indicate that while there are strong similarities in the way the two neighbouring countries describe WWI sites and why they want to keep the memories of this event alive, the two groups differ in how their memories of WWI are shaped on other variables. Practical implications for organizations involved in promoting tourism to these sites are also discussed.  相似文献

The important features of the National Tourism Policy Act of 1981 are presented. The aim of this study is to ascertain, in an international tourism context, whether there are cultural discrepancies between hotel employees who have been educated and trained in a host country, and guests who have traveled to that country, given that each group is imbued with their own national culture. The findings indicate that not only do Thai frontline hotel employees have different expectations about the behavior of Japanese and Korean customers, but that the expectations of both customer groups concerning their own behavior differ from those of Thai employees. A significant gap was found in perceptions of actual behavior between the international customers and hotel staff, suggesting that cultural discrepancies are indeed present, but also vary by ethnicity. The scale of the discrepancy between Thai employees’ perceptions of Japanese tourists’ behavior, for example, was larger than in the case of the Korean customers. Comparison of the expectations of the two international customer groups also revealed strong differences.  相似文献

This study examines tourism and regional development in terms of the different institutional structures present in the United States and Mexico. Using the methodology of controlled comparison, the analysis shows that, although Taos and Patzcuaro share many social structural characteristics and have similar tourist sectors, the relatively open institutional structure within New Mexico and the United States contrasts sharply with the relatively closed, “elitist” institutional structure operating in Michoacan and Mexico. As a result, the citizenry of Taos has been possible for the people of Patzcuaro. The different roles of the public and private sectors in Taos and Patzcuaro are particularly significant in this respect and illustrate two quite distinctive approaches, from the national to the regional to the local level, to the problems of tourism and regional development.  相似文献
