In this research, we investigate the impact of stochastic volatility and interest rates on counterparty credit risk (CCR) for FX derivatives. To achieve this we analyse two real-life cases in which the market conditions are different, namely during the 2008 credit crisis where risks are high and a period after the crisis in 2014, where volatility levels are low. The Heston model is extended by adding two Hull–White components which are calibrated to fit the EURUSD volatility surfaces. We then present future exposure profiles and credit value adjustments (CVAs) for plain vanilla cross-currency swaps (CCYS), barrier and American options and compare the different results when Heston-Hull–White-Hull–White or Black–Scholes dynamics are assumed. It is observed that the stochastic volatility has a significant impact on all the derivatives. For CCYS, some of the impact can be reduced by allowing for time-dependent variance. We further confirmed that Barrier options exposure and CVA is highly sensitive to volatility dynamics and that American options’ risk dynamics are significantly affected by the uncertainty in the interest rates.  相似文献

In this paper, we propose an approximation method based on the Wiener–Ito chaos expansion for the pricing of European contingent claims. Our method is applicable to widely used option pricing models such as local volatility models, stochastic volatility models and their combinations. This method is useful in practice since the resulting approximation formula is not computationally expensive, hence it is suitable for calibration purposes. We will show through some numerical examples that our approximation remains quite good even for the long maturity and/or the high volatility cases, which is a desired feature. As an example, we propose a hybrid volatility model and apply our approximation formula to the JPY/USD currency option market obtaining very accurate results.  相似文献

In this paper, we will present a multiple time step Monte Carlo simulation technique for pricing options under the Stochastic Alpha Beta Rho model. The proposed method is an extension of the one time step Monte Carlo method that we proposed in an accompanying paper Leitao et al. [Appl. Math. Comput. 2017, 293, 461–479], for pricing European options in the context of the model calibration. A highly efficient method results, with many very interesting and nontrivial components, like Fourier inversion for the sum of log-normals, stochastic collocation, Gumbel copula, correlation approximation, that are not yet seen in combination within a Monte Carlo simulation. The present multiple time step Monte Carlo method is especially useful for long-term options and for exotic options.  相似文献

We present regression-based Monte Carlo simulation algorithm for solving the stochastic control models associated with pricing and hedging of the guaranteed lifelong withdrawal benefit (GLWB) in variable annuities, where the dynamics of the underlying fund value is assumed to evolve according to the stochastic volatility model. The GLWB offers a lifelong withdrawal benefit, even when the policy account value becomes zero, while the policyholder remains alive. Upon death, the remaining account value will be paid to the beneficiary as a death benefit. The bang-bang control strategy analysed under the assumption of maximization of the policyholder’s expected cash flow reduces the strategy space of optimal withdrawal policies to three choices: zero withdrawal, withdrawal at the contractual amount or complete surrender. The impact on the GLWB value under various withdrawal behaviours of the policyholder is examined. We also analyse the pricing properties of GLWB subject to different model parameter values and structural features.  相似文献

We present a number of related comparison results, which allow one to compare moment explosion times, moment generating functions and critical moments between rough and non-rough Heston models of stochastic volatility. All results are based on a comparison principle for certain non-linear Volterra integral equations. Our upper bound for the moment explosion time is different from the bound introduced by Gerhold, Gerstenecker and Pinter [Moment explosions in the rough Heston model. Decisions in Economics and Finance, 2019, 42, 575–608] and tighter for typical parameter values. The results can be directly transferred to a comparison principle for the asymptotic slope of implied variance between rough and non-rough Heston models. This principle shows that the ratio of implied variance slopes in the rough versus non-rough Heston model increases at least with power-law behavior for small maturities.  相似文献

In this article we define a multi-factor equity–interest rate hybrid model with non-zero correlation between the stock and interest rate. The equity part is modeled by the Heston model and we use a Gaussian multi-factor short-rate process. By construction, the model fits in the framework of affine diffusion processes, allowing fast calibration to plain vanilla options. We also provide an efficient Monte Carlo simulation scheme.  相似文献

We discuss the application of gradient methods to calibrate mean reverting stochastic volatility models. For this we use formulas based on Girsanov transformations as well as a modification of the Bismut–Elworthy formula to compute the derivatives of certain option prices with respect to the parameters of the model by applying Monte Carlo methods. The article presents an extension of the ideas to apply Malliavin calculus methods in the computation of Greek's.  相似文献

Abstract

Control variates are often used to reduce variability in Monte Carlo estimates and their effectiveness is traditionally measured by the so-called speed-up factor. The main objective of this paper is to demonstrate that a control variate can also be applied to reduce the bias stemming from the discretization of the state variable dynamics. This is particularly valuable when stochastic interest rate models are discretized, since bias reduction through more grid points is computationally expensive.  相似文献
