On Lindley-like mean correction in the improved estimation of linear regression models

The risks of estimators incorporating the correction to the sample mean in the spirit of Stein and Lindley are approximated in the case of small disturbances.     

The demand functions that satisfy the weak axiom of revealed preference and generalized monotonicity

We prove that the individual demand function satisfying the Weak Axiom of Revealed Preference and the excess demand function satisfying the Wald’s Axiom are pseudomonotone_*⁺, a new class of generalized monotonicity. With this new concept, we refine the characterization of Zhou for the individual demand function. In particular, a full characterization for the excess demand functions satisfying the Wald’s Axiom is derived.     

On the minimum degree of returns to scale in sunspot models of the business cycle

Bennett and Farmer (J. Econ. Theory 93 (2000) 118) claim that the degree of increasing returns to scale required for indeterminacy in a single sector growth model can be lowered by allowing for preferences that are non-separable in consumption and leisure. In this paper I show that the example they give violates concavity. In a more general setup, which does not impose specific functional forms on utility, I prove that there are no concave utility functions compatible with indeterminacy if the elasticity of scale is lower than the inverse of the labor share in production.     

Analysing the breakthrough of rock ‘n’ roll (1930–1970) Multi-regime interaction and reconfiguration in the multi-level perspective

The breakthrough of rock ‘n’ roll was part of broader transformations in the American music industry, involving changes in music instruments, music recording technology, audiences, radio programming and music styles. These transformations will be analysed as sociotechnical transition, using the multi-level perspective. One characteristic of the case is interactions between multiple regimes: radio and recording. Another characteristic is the presence of strong cultural components, with rock ‘n’ roll as proxy. These characteristics lead to theoretical adjustments in the multi-level perspective. Further analysis also suggests a particular transition path of reconfiguration, in which multiple niche-innovations cumulatively transform the regime.
