This article examines the existing confusion over the multiple leadership styles related to successful implementation of corporate social responsibility/sustainability in organisations. The researchers find that the problem is the complex nature of sustainability itself. We posit that organisations are complex adaptive systems operating within wider complex adaptive systems, making the problem of interpreting just in what way an organisation is to be sustainable, an extraordinary demand on leaders. Hence, leadership for sustainability requires leaders of extraordinary abilities. These are leaders who can read and predict through complexity, think through complex problems, engage groups in dynamic adaptive organisational change and have the emotional intelligence to adaptively engage with their own emotions associated with complex problem solving. Leaders and leadership is a key interpreter of how sustainability of the organisation ‘links’ to the wider systems in which the organisation sits, and executing that link well requires unusual leaders and leadership systems.  相似文献

As our world becomes more integrated, international business students should develop skills that match corporations' needs. Moreover, students need hands-on, problem-solving, team-based, critical-thinking skills that companies demand. Students need international business experience but many of them lack the funds or support to study or intern abroad. This article explains how one program developed a project-based course that addressed these skills by partnering with a local consulate office. It lays the framework for using a project-based course, explains the course's development, outlines the necessary and important skills addressed, and provides an agenda for other schools considering such a course.  相似文献

The current and prevailing paradigm of intensive agricultural production is a straightforward example of the mainstream way of doing business. Mainstream enterprises are based on a negativistic view of human nature that leads to counter-productive and unsustainable behaviours producing negative impact for society and the natural environment. If we want to change the course, then different players are needed, which can flourish thanks to their capacity to serve others and creating values for all the participants in the network in which they are embedded. In the article, through the analysis of the Slow Food movement and the use of recent theoretical and empirical contributions in behavioural sciences and psychology, we support the collaborative enterprise model as an alternative to the still prevailing, mainstream business models. Evidence shows that caring and responsible efforts of economic agents are acknowledged and reciprocated even in highly competitive markets.  相似文献

根据举办国际会议的数量,ICCA每年对全球范围内的地区、国家和城市进行排名。自2000年以来,中国北京、上海、西安、杭州、南京、广州、深圳、成都、重庆、大连、厦门、苏州、合肥等城市先后出现在ICCA的城市排名中。若只比较这些国内城市,杭州一直位居前列,先后有11次位居国内第3位。本文对杭州在综合竞争力、自身条件、外界因素进行了分析,以探讨这一现象。  相似文献

太阳能光伏产业正在成为许多国家和地区重点发展的产业。台湾地区利用以往半导体产业与太阳能产业的关联优势,从太阳能电池环节开始向上下游整合。一方面,通过建设新厂、企业相互参股、异地合资建厂等方式,消除硅材料缺乏的瓶颈,提高生产设备自给率。另一方面,通过外销、在大陆合资设立厂等方式,突破台湾本地市场规模限制,获取规模经济。同时,对薄膜太阳能产业进行战略布局,逐步建立健全太阳能产业链,使台湾成为世界第二大太阳能产业产地。台湾太阳能光伏产业发展为产业演进研究提供了典型案例。  相似文献

This paper investigates the international entrepreneurial behaviour of Mittelstand firms (German small and medium sized enterprises). Analysis of a survey of the international marketing strategies of Mittelstand firms revealed three clusters of firms, two that had below and one above average international activities. None of the clusters displayed born global type of internationalisation processes. However, this does not mean that they adopt passive approaches to internationalisation. The results suggest that Mittelstand firms engage in entrepreneurial behaviour that is proactive and innovative but which is cautious, sequential, and risk adverse. The implications of this analysis for future research in the area of international entrepreneurship are considered.  相似文献

This article describes the design and implementation of a unique course developed to deeply engage MBA students in the complexities of the field of international management. This experiential course was designed around an integrative project based on the cruise industry. The professor worked with the leadership team of a major cruise line to develop an in‐depth case study around which the course was built. Students consulted to the executives of the cruise line, conducted a comprehensive study and analysis of the strategy and human resource challenges of the organization, and prepared presentations of their evaluations and recommendations for the executive team.  相似文献

一国贸易逆差通常被认为会损害该国的国际竞争力。本文从美国巨额贸易逆差的成因入手,结合产品市场生命周期理论、国际分工现状两个方面分析逆差与竞争力的关系,认为美国巨额贸易逆差是美国经济增长与旺盛社会需求的结果,同时也是其国际分工、产业结构高级化的产物,由此反映出贸易逆差并未削弱美国竞争力。诸如日本、德国及印度等多国经验也显示贸易差额与一国国际竞争力的分离关系。因此,当前贸易差额已不能成为衡量一国国际竞争力的标准。  相似文献

This paper reviews the evolution of the theory of international franchising over the past two decades, from its humble beginnings in the early 1990s. The theories are grouped into three time phases. Ten theory papers are considered. It is clear that apart from a basic decision-making model explaining whether to internationalize or not, the theory of international franchising has “borrowed” theory from mainstream marketing. In particular, international franchising theory has evolved by incorporating capabilities theory, relationship theory, stakeholder theory, and governance mode theory. The biggest opportunity for future international franchising research is to add a branding theory perspective. Four sub-topics are put forward as promising areas for future research.  相似文献

While sustainability has long been conceptualized as comprising three pillars (ecological, economic, and social), extant research and practice tends to focus on the ecological dimension of sustainability. Sustainable products and services are often marketed as a proxy for “environmentally appropriate” without considering other dimensions. As a result consumers may be under the misconception that sustainability is a one-dimensional concept and the way that researchers and marketers are employing this term may be perpetuating this (mis)understanding. This research explores the way that consumers interpret this construct. The results lend support to the argument that a one-dimensional operationalization of sustainability may be underestimating the importance of the social, economic, and time dimensions in consumer perceptions.  相似文献

This article is concerned with the interdependence of national markets for service industries. It focuses in particular on the North American aviation industry. It looks at the effects that deregulation and other developments in the US market had on Canadian aviation and air transport policy after 1978. What emerges is that, in the aviation sector at least, national markets for services can no longer be treated in isolation from changes in other, and especially larger, national markets. 随着中国企业国际化的发展,国际采购必将为中国企业国际竞争力的提高与可持续发展作出越来越重要的贡献。国际采购不仅是企业的运作职能,更是企业的战略职能。运作层次国际采购向战略层次国际采购的发展可以划分为不同阶段。本文采用案例研究方法对不同阶段中国企业国际采购的特征进行实证分析。研究结果表明,中国企业国际采购发展的初级阶段主要是追求海外供应的高质量和高技术,随着国际采购阶段的深入,中国企业国际采购能力建设将更为完善,将追求更为多样化的战略利益。中国企业国际采购所面临的硬性成本与外部障碍的重要性下降,软性成本和内部障碍越来越重要。对于国际采购发展程度较高的企业,内部障碍对企业国际采购能力建设提出了更高的要求。但软性成本的阶段性特征表现得不明显,文化与商业习惯差异是比较普遍的软性成本,其他软性成本类型主要与企业特征或行业类型有关。  相似文献

By developing an international market and significant differences between countries in this regard, segmentation becomes an increasingly important concept in marketing. In this article, the international market of Iranian furniture industry is segmented and cross-exporting strategies are developed to increase the market share of Iranian furniture in each segment. To achieve this, two distance functions are introduced based on correlation between export groups to cluster countries with k-means algorithm. After market segmentation for increasing sales in each segment, cross-exporting strategies are predicted by extracting association rules in each segment based on Apriori algorithm to set export baskets.  相似文献
