This introductory article summarizes the discussions and results of the Fifth Annual Greening of Industry Conference, Global Restructuring—A Place for Ecology?, held in Heidelberg, Germany, November 25–27, 1997. The Greening of Industry Network is concerned with the transition of industry towards sustainable production as an essential part of achieving a sustainable society. The Network conferences, held at different locations around the world, promote this goal by bringing together participants from different regions and with different backgrounds (academia, industry, governments and NGOs). The conferences are venues for information exchange, learning and dialogue about different aspects of the greening of industry and possible pathways to a sustainable society. © 1997 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd and ERP Environment.  相似文献

Three offices coordinate Network activities: at Clark University, USA; Chulalongkorn University, Thailand; and the University of Twente in the Netherlands. The Network's mission is to stimulate, coordinate and promote dialogue and research of high quality and relevance to ensure that the activities of industry–including business, labour, consumers, government and others–are consistent with building a sustainable future. Since 1991 the Greening of Industry Network has engaged participants from more than 50 countries to respond to the challenge of sustainable development. In 1995 the coordinators of the Netherlands Advisory Council for Research on Nature and Environment (RMNO) and the Greening of Industry Network initiated a process of developing an international research agenda on sustainable development and the role of industry. The purpose of this initiative was two-fold: • To develop a research agenda on the process of greening of industry in the context of sustainable development which defines main research priorities for the coming decade;• To provide a clearer perspective on how research priorities are currently developed and how to improve this process. After a two year process of discussions via workshops and interviews including various stakeholders, four main research themes were selected: • Transformation towards sustainable development• Changing consumption patterns • Finance, capital and performance indicators • Technological breakthroughs. We hope to solicit a discussion on the future of the greening of industry research agenda. The Greening of Industry Network is a research and policy institute, dedicated to building a sustainable future. It is an international partnership with two coordinating offices – one at Clark University in the USA and one at the University of Twente in the Netherlands. The Network's mission is to stimulate, coordinate and promote research of high quality and relevance to ensure that the activities of industry – including business, labour consumers, government and others – are consistent with building a sustainable future. Guided by a 20 member international advisory board, the Network carried out this mission through linked international convenings, publications and a communications network. This noticeboard serves as the Network's newsletter, giving progress on events, publications and results, providing space for Network participants to post their own news and presenting editorial views. We encourage Network participants to contribute news items and brief editorials. The Sixth International Conference of the Greening of Industry Network, Developing Sustainability: New Dialogue, New Approaches, was held in Santa Barbara, CA, USA, 16–19 November 1997. This special edition of Business Strategy and the Environment attempts to capture the dialogue from the conference by presenting seven edited papers from the conference, a review of the conference's objectives and achievements from the perspective of the conference organizers, and this introductory essay. Each of the seven papers takes a different cut at theoretical, empirical and methodological questions around the focus of the conference. Together they represent the diversity and creativity of approach that is central to the conference's objective of establishing new dialogue on processes of greening and progress towards sustainable development. The organization of the conference and significant conference highlights, such as the incorporation of CERES into the organization of the conference, and the expansion of the Network into Asia, are reviewed by the conference organizers in this special edition (Fatkin and Fischer, 1998). Despite the recent interest in the Industry 4.0 applications for sustainability, little is known on the processes through which digital transformation and Industry 4.0 technologies enable sustainable innovation in manufacturing. The present study addresses this knowledge gap by developing a strategic roadmap that explains how businesses can leverage Industry 4.0 technologies to introduce sustainability into innovative practices. For this purpose, the study conducts a systematic review of extant literature to identify Industry 4.0 functions for sustainable innovation and applies interpretive structural modeling to devise the promised roadmap. The results offer interesting insights into Industry 4.0 applications for sustainable innovation. The strategic roadmap developed reveals that Industry 4.0 enables sustainable innovation through 11 functions. Industry 4.0 and the underlying digital technologies and principles allow businesses to improve interfunctional collaboration and better integrate with internal and external stakeholders. Industry 4.0 further improves the knowledge base and advanced manufacturing competency and promotes organizational capabilities valuable to sustainable innovation such as green absorptive capacity, sustainable partnership, and sustainable innovation orientation. Through these functions, Industry 4.0 subsequently enhances green process innovation capacity and the ability to develop or reintroduce eco-friendly products economically and competitively. Overall, the roadmap explains the complex precedence relationships among the 11 sustainable innovation functions of Industry 4.0, offering important implications for businesses that seek to leverage Industry 4.0 sustainability implications and manage sustainable development.  相似文献

本研究提出一理论架构,将组织学习与组织创新作为解释领导行为与组织绩效间关系的主要中介变量。运用经济理论、管理理论和问卷调查研究方法,以台湾新竹科学园区的信息电子产业作为实证研究的对象,有效分析样本厂商共112家。分别以基本叙述统计、信效度分析、因素分析与典型相关分析等方法来进行实证并验证本研究所提出之各项假设。主要发现为:整体而言,本研究整体理论模式配置符合可接受的适合度检定水准,表示本研究的理论架构可获得支持,故组织学习与组织创新作为领导行为与组织绩效间的影响关系确实存在着。  相似文献

随着技术的进步和市场的发展,行业的竞争早已由产品之争发展到标准之争。AVS(数字电视音视频标准)作为我国自主研发的第一个国家数字音视频标准,其竞争策略直接关系到我国整个数字音视频行业能否脱离国外标准的限制。文章在回顾整个数字音视频标准发展的历史进程的基础上,采用产业经济学的分析方法,研究了我国数字音视频标准的市场结构和市场特征,并建立一个直观的经济学模型分析了在这种市场结构和市场特征下影响AVS用户选择的多种竞争因素。文章最后给出了标准拥有者应当采取的竞争策略的相关建议。  相似文献
