The predicament in China＇s foreign trade has been turned over as an old page and the favorable balance in the first half of 2010 is narrowing, which both predict a basically balanced development of Chinas foreign trade. But our export industrial chain calls for an urgent upgrading. Export and import in the foreign trade does not speed up its recovery without obstacles.     

Im/Ex Rebound Continues in July

On August 11, General Administration of Customs of the People＇s Republic of China released the profile of China foreign trade import and export in July and the first seven months of this year. Foreign trade conducted by China suffered continuous decrease since last October; however, from this March, rebound results have been achieved for consecutive 5 months. The month-on-month figure has been growing steadily, though in slow pace.

The first Chinese duty- free zone was established 20 years ago, and the first export processing zone has now been operating for 10 years. As icons of special customs supervision zones in China, duty-free zones and export processing zones have contributed a lot to China＇s foreign trade. In 2009, the aggregate value of foreign trade in Chinese special customs supervision zones rose to USD 279.43billion, accounting for 12.66 percent of the country＇s annual foreign trade. These special zones brought about a trade surplus of USD 8.75 billion and created 1.21 million new job opportunities in that year.

On April 10, 2010, General Administration of Customs of the People＇s Republic of China （GAC） released the profile of China foreign trade import and export in April and the first quarter of this year. China＇s trade balance turned red in March with the country＇s first monthly trade deficit in six years. The GAC attributed the March deficit to shrinking exports of labor-intensive products, surging imports and rising commodity prices.     

South Africa Keen to Tap China's Tourism Market

Statistics show that bilateral trade between China and South Africa grew 56.1 percent in the first six months this year, with a total trade value of US$10.81 billion, providing vivid evidence to the fact that China has become South Africa＇ s largest export destination and South Africa is China＇ s biggest trade partner in Africa.
