Egypt Aiming at Attracting Investment from China

Jointly with China Economic ＆ Trade Counselor Office in Egypt, the General Authority for Investment （GAFI） and the General Authority for Special Economic Zone North-West Gulf of Suez （SEZone） held China-Africa Development Fund Conference in Cairo, Egypt on March 16, 2009. The Minister of Investment Egypt Dr. Mahmoud Mohieldin, Chinese Ambassador to Egypt Mr. Wu Chunhua, Chairman of GAFI and SEZone Mr. Assem Ragab, Vice President of China-Africa Development Fund Mr. Lu Qingchen, Economic and Trade Minister Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Egypt Mr. Cao Jiachang, as well as over 100 Chinese/Egyptian businessmen attended the conference.

Mr. Thomas J. Donohue, President and CEO of the U.S. .Chamber of Commerce, Mr.Yasuo Hayashi, Chairman and CEO of the Japan External Trade Organization, and Mr. Madhav Sharma, Chief Representative of the Confederation of Indian Industries Shanghai Representative Office, will have a busy late October as all of these senior officers will take part in the 2007 China （Wuxi） InternationalCooperation Forum for Commercial Associations ＆ International Business Exchange Conference. CCPIT and italian Trade Commission Sign Cooperation Memorandum——ltalian Trade Commission Chairman awarded gold medal to CCPIT Chairman Wan Jifei

On November 29, 2006, CCPIT Chairman Wan Jifei and Chairman of ltalian Trade Commission jointly signed the Memorandum of Cooperation. After the signature ceremony, Mr. Ambassador Umberto Vattani, President of Italian Trade Commission （ICE） awarded a gold medal to Mr. Wan Jifei, in order to praise the great contributions he has made in promoting the trade relations between China and Italy. He pointed out that the gold medal was just coined in three pieces and with great significance. Davide Cucino, Chairman of China-ltaly Chamber of Commerce, and Italian Embassy officials participated in the signature ceremony. Following, China＇s Foreign Trade interviewed the Italian Chairman and Mr. Wan Jifei.

Board of Investment,Stage of Cooperation

Mr.Lim Sit Chen,the Chairman of Board of Investment (BOI)in Mauritius,as a distinguished guest came to China ac- companying the Prime Minister of Mauritius,H.E. Dr.Navin- chandra Ramgoolam's visiting in this July.On the China- Mauritius Investment Promotion Seminar,excellent speech he delivered,charm of manner he was and great efforts to pro- mote the economic,trade and finance relations between China and Mauritius he had made,swept the audience off their feet. Besides Chairman of BOI,Mr.Lim owns many other titles under his name,such as Managing Director of Stewardship Consulting Pte Ltd in Singapore and President of Spirit of En- terprise in Mauritius. What's more, he has an international working experience and education background in Mauritius, Singapore and America. CCPIT Vice Chairman Dong Songgen Attended Seminar on Economic and Trade Opportunities in Peru

On the afternoon of July 3,CCPIT Vice Chairman Dong Songgen met with Mr.Gutierrez,the visiting Peruvian Vice Foreign Minister,both of whom attended the Seminar on Economic and Trade Opportunities in Peru.The seminar was organized by CCPIT and Peruvian Embassy in China,Peru- vian Vice Foreign Minister has briefed on macro economy as well as trade policies and investment opportunities in Peru.

Chairman of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade and Chairman of the China Chamber of International Commerce, Mr. Zheng Hongye, who just took up his post as the first chairman of the International Chamber of Commerce China (ICCC), gave an interview to staff reporter Jiang Shah on China's admission to the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC).

Since the normalization of the dip- lomatic ties between China and Japan,the bilateral economic rela- tions have deepened continually.Ac- cording to the statistic of Japan,China passed U.S.to become Japan's top trade partner as well as is the second largest export market for Japan and is the largest import resource for Japan. Japan companies such as Mitsui,Sumi- tomo,Sony and Panasonic,have set the subsidiaries in China and explored their scales.This year 2008 marks the 30th anniversary of the signing of the China- Japan Treaty of Peace and Friendship. From May 1 to May 11,President Hu Jintao paid the"Warm Spring"trip to Ja- pan successfully.China's Foreign Trade invited Mr.Shizuo Takashino,Executive Vice President of Sony Group,Chair- man of Sony China,to comment Presi- dent Hu's visit and the development of Japan companies in China.     

China-Costa Rica Entrepreneurs Conference Successfully Held

On the morning of April 2, CCPIT Vice Chairman Zhang Wei met with the new Moroccan Ambassador to China, Mr. Hakim. Vice Chairman Zhang Wei first extended his welcome to the visit of Ambassador Hakim with warm congratulations on his taking office and introduced him in detail to the functions of the CCPIT. He hoped that through joint efforts the communication and co- operation between the CCPIT and the Moroccan business circle would be strengthened to provide convenience for the Chinese enterprises to make investment in Morocco.
