Finally, it is suggested thatproceeding in this way can help provide aneeded integrative function in the businessschool – that it can help faculty to becomemore broadly collegial and that it can put thebusiness ethics course at the very heart of aliberal education for business students.

The Suddenly Weak CNY

Why is the Chinese yuan (CNY) trading weak recendy? Since the middle of September,USDCNY has traded fairly consistently below the morning fixing.It has tested the weak end of the daily +/0.5％ band five times to date,and generally in the last two weeks the CNY has ended the day with no offer.Chart 1 shows the percentage difference between the day-end USD-CNY price to the fix (we use the 5-day moving average to smooth out some of the volatility).This price action suggests that the market is not selling US dollars (USD) as it once did and that the People's Bank of China (PBoC) could be selling USD from its FX revenues.The FX reserves fell in September and initial indications for October suggest that this trend has continued.With China still running a sizeable trade surplus (USD 17bn in October),some suggest that CNY weakness could be evidence that ‘hot money' is leaving the country.

For most of us, work is well – work, something we have to do to maintain our lives and pay the bills. I believe, however, that work is not just a part of our existence that can be easily separated from the rest of our lives. Work is not simply about the trading of labor for dollars. Perhaps because we live in a society that markets and hawks the fruits of our labor and not the labor itself, we have forgotten or never really appreciated the fact that the business of work is not simply to produce goods, but also to help produce people. We need work, and as adults we find identity and are identified by the work we do. If this is true then we must be very careful about what we choose to do for a living, for what we do is what we'll become.

Are We Sending Mixed Messages? How Philosophical Naturalism Erodes Ethical Instruction

To develop critical thinking skills, higher order ethical reasoning, a better grasp of the implications of ethical decisions, and a basis for ethical knowledge, it is necessary to explore the philosophical premises foundational to one’s ethical persuasion. No philosophical premises are more important than those pertaining to the nature of human personhood and business’ responsibility to respect the inherent value of human beings. Philosophical naturalism assigns the essence of human personhood strictly to causal interactions of physical matter. Substance dualism, on the other hand, posits both a physical aspect and an immaterial substance to personhood, interacting within the totality of each being. This paper argues for the logical superiority of substance dualism in achieving the overriding objective of discerning ethical knowledge. Substance dualism offers a better explanation – and one that more closely follows the way most people commonly experience themselves and others–than naturalism for free agency and accountability, meaningful moral standards, confidence in knowing what ethical decisions to make, and the moral drive residing in conscience. 市场份额影响力、进口市场集中度与贸易结算货币选择

本文以中国161个H.S.6位税则号进口行业为样本,通过问卷调查搜集到31209家企业2000-2012年间从日本进口商品订单的金额和币种数据,以此测度市场份额影响力以及进口市场集中度对中国进口行业选择日元结算的影响.分析结论显示,日本的供给方市场份额影响力弱,中国的需求方市场份额影响力强,进口行业市场集中度高对采用日元结算具有负面影响.以上述结论为依据,本文根据样本数据提出了中日贸易适于采用人民币结算的具体行业,从而为推进人民币贸易结算的全球化发展提供了新思路.     

跨境贸易计价货币选择理论:文献综述

从传统的计价货币选择理论入手,对有关国际贸易计价货币选择的文献进行综述。研究发现,货币的交易成本、产品的需求弹性、预期利润、讨价还价能力和市场占有率是国际贸易中企业计价货币选择的微观影响因素;而通货膨胀高低、货币供给波动大小和汇率波动程度是宏观影响因素。在微观企业计价货币选择的决策中融入宏观经济变量的动态一般均衡模型研究,以及微观企业时间序列数据的挖掘是未来计价货币选择理论的研究方向。
