本文在投资引力模型的基础上,将东道国的要素禀赋、制度特征等因素引入其中,就二者与FDI流动的关系,诸因素交叉项与FDI流动的关系及东道国制度差异对FDI流动的影响进行了实证分析。结果发现:东道国的经济规模和双边贸易距离对FDI流动具有普遍性影响。东道国的要素禀赋、制度质量、历史经历及加入相关组织对FDI流入具有重要影响。因此,现实背景下中国要想吸引优质FDI流入,就必须靠好的制度安排来实现,通过增强制度的"拉力"(引进来)及"推力"(走出去),为中国的引资及对外投资提供"高能化、清洁化"的动力。  相似文献

随着新一轮的国际产业结构调整和我国逐步履行加入世贸组织的承诺,外商投资大量涌入服务行业。以我国服务业FDI对服务业就业数量和就业质量的影响为视角,选取服务业产值、FDI额和就业人数等相关指标进行实证分析。结果显示:服务业FDI的流入对我国服务业就业数量产生微弱挤出效应,对就业质量具有显著提升作用。为进一步加快我国服务业发展,提高服务业使用外资水平,妥善解决就业问题,提出继续加大引进服务业FDI,有效发挥外资的促进作用,规范跨国并购,加快吸引绿地投资,加强劳动者职业技能培训等对策建议。  相似文献

以江苏省三次产业的增加值为被解释变量,三次产业协议利用外资额为解释变量来构建计量模型,对1996--2002年外国直接投资(FDI)对三次产业发展的贡献进行实证分析。认为”FDI每增加1%,可使江苏省一、二、三产业的增加值分别增加15.2%、69.6%、53.8%”这表明,FDI对江苏省第二产业经济增长的贡献最显著;对第三产业的发展起到了重要的作用;对第一产业发展的影响则较小,所以,重视FDI对服务行业的作用具有指导性的意义。  相似文献

随着改革开放的深入发展以及加入世贸组织,近两年我国引进外商直接投资(FDI)的绝对数量连续超过美国,位居世界第一,FDI已成为推动我国经济高速增长的重要力量。重庆市是祖国西部的工业重镇,应该充分利用外商直接投资以促进区域经济发展。本文利用1992-2003年的数据,从实证角度分析了重庆市吸引及利用FDI的现状,认为外商直接投资在促进重庆市经济增长、进出口贸易和固定资产投资方面,有一定的正面影响,但作用力不大。对今后如何吸引外资及提高外商投资质量,进一步促进重庆市经济发展提出了政策建议。  相似文献

FDI对一个地区产业结构的影响存在一定的滞后期。通过对江苏省FDI分布滞后模型分析得知,FDI对第一产业的影响有很小的负效应;对第二产业的影响存在着负效应;对第三产业GDP占比存在正相关,且存在较长的滞后期。为更好地利用外资促进江苏省产业结构的优化升级,应积极引导FDI流向第一产业和第二产业,尤其要引导外商直接投资优化第二产业内部结构;要鼓励外商增加对现代服务业和战略性新兴产业的投资。  相似文献

The main aim of this article is to examine the factors that influence the inflow of financial foreign direct investment (FDI) into SSA and to understand foreign investors’ perceptions of the role of institutional factors in facilitating financial FDI inflows and the extent to which the postreform business environment has been successful in attracting financial FDI inflows into SSA. An in‐depth qualitative study was adopted for the research. Using two financial multinational corporations as case studies, the environmental factors that influenced their decision to choose Ghana as an investment destination are examined, as well as the institutional and regulatory factors that affect their current operations and future investment decisions. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.  相似文献

我国正在经历从出口成本优势向质量优势转型的重要时期。外资对我国出口产品质量的影响及其差异性成为政府和学界关注的问题。本文从市场化水平、政府与市场的关系以及知识产权保护等三个方面检验了制度因素对外资质量溢出的影响。回归结果表明:(1)市场化程度低确实抑制FDI质量溢出;(2)政府干预对外资质量溢出效应产生了负面影响。在低市场化程度或者高政府干预样本组中,FDI质量溢出效应不显著;(3)知识产权保护对FDI质量溢出的影响程度非常有限。本文的结论为政策制定者提供了决策参考依据。简政放权、降低企业面临的行政成本是促进我国本土企业改善其出口产品质量的重要抓手。  相似文献

The role of corporate governance in FDI decisions: Evidence from Taiwan   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2  
There has been a considerable literature on the determinants of why firms undertake foreign direct investment (FDI), but very little on whether firms with different governance characteristics are more or less likely to venture overseas. For example, are family-controlled firms more predisposed to FDI than firms, with similar attributes, but different forms of ownership? Does the presence of institutional shareholders suggest a greater propensity to invest abroad? Does the composition of the Board of Directors have an impact? Most extant studies of corporate governance focus on the impact of governance factors on firm performance. However, these performance outcomes are a function of the strategic decisions made by the firms, which suggests it might be useful to consider the relationship between corporate governance factors and particular strategic decisions. One example is the decision to undertake foreign direct investment. The two main strands of IB literature on the determinants of FDI have little or nothing to say about how corporate governance factors might affect the FDI decision. Both internalisation theory and the resource-based view see FDI primarily as a means by which firms can appropriate rents in overseas markets from the exploitation of their idiosyncratic resources and capabilities. This paper extends this literature by investigating the effects of governance factors on the decision to undertake FDI. In particular, we want to assess the impact upon the FDI decision of (a) the extent of family control, (b) the presence of domestic and foreign institutional shareholders, and (c) the composition of the Board of Directors. We investigate these effects using a sample of 228 publicly listed firms in Taiwan, and our results clearly indicate that family control and share ownership by domestic financial institutions in Taiwanese firms are associated with the decision to undertake FDI. We also find that corporate governance impacts in different ways with regard to Taiwanese FDI in China in comparison to Taiwanese FDI in the rest of the world.  相似文献

This paper investigates the effect of foreign direct investment (FDI) on economic growth conditional on the institutional quality of host countries. We first develop several theoretical arguments to show that institutional heterogeneity may be an explanation for the mixed results of previous empirical studies. Second, using a panel smooth regression model on a large sample of developing countries, we show that FDI has a positive effect on growth only beyond a certain threshold of institutional quality. To benefit from FDI‐led growth, institutional reforms should thus precede FDI attraction policies. Additionally, some reforms seem to promote faster marginal effects of FDI, while institutional complementarities may lead to an incremental effect on growth.  相似文献

文章构建了利用外资质量的评价指标体系,并运用模糊层次分析法,对浙江、江苏和广东三省利用外资的质量进行了测度和比较。测度结果显示:总体上看,江苏省利用外资质量最高,广东省其次,浙江省则最低。就规模、结构、增长、效益和潜力五个一级评价指标而言,江苏省利用外资的规模和效益指标高居榜首,广东省利用外资的结构优势明显,浙江省则发展潜力最大。因此,今后浙江省应充分发挥其发展潜力,在继续扩大利用外资规模的基础上,不断优化利用外资结构,提高利用外资效益,以促进利用外资质量的不断提升。  相似文献

利用2000-2003年间69个投资国和地区的国别资料,本文分析了制度上的差异与作为东道国的中国吸引外商直接投资之间的关系.研究结果表明:文化制度差异越大,投资国在中国的直接投资越少;包括法律完善程度和私有财产保护程度在内的法律制度差异越大,投资国在中国的直接投资越少;贸易政策、货币政策、金融管制政策等宏观经济制度差异越大,投资国在中国的直接投资越少;政府干预程度、工资控制程度和市场规范程度等微观经济制度差异越大,投资国在中国的直接投资越少.在上述发现的基础上,本文提出了相应的政策建议.  相似文献

This paper analyses the determinants of the location choices made by foreign investors at the district level in India to gauge the relative importance of economic geography factors, local business conditions, institutional conditions and the presence of previous foreign investors. We employ a discrete‐choice model and Poisson regressions to control for the potential violation of the assumption of independence of irrelevant alternatives. Our sample includes about 19,500 foreign investment projects approved in 447 districts from 1991 to 2005. We find that foreign investors strongly prefer locations where other foreign investors are. This effect is significantly positive and robust across different years, sectors and different types of foreign direct investment (FDI). Moreover, path dependence remains significantly positive when controlling for institutional conditions at the state and district level. Foreign investors tend to follow not only previous investors from the same country of origin but also investors from other countries of origin. They are also attracted to industrially diverse locations and to districts with better infrastructure and institutional conditions, although these findings are less robust. Surprisingly, districts in the neighbourhood of large metro areas do not benefit, in terms of attracting more FDI, from having easier access to these markets than remote Indian districts. On the contrary, our results suggest that large metro areas divert FDI projects away from neighbouring districts, thereby perpetuating or even widening the urban–rural divide. We conclude that the concentration of FDI in a few locations could fuel regional divergence in post‐reform India.  相似文献

This article focuses on the way greenfield foreign direct investment (FDI) in different sectors is influenced by locational characteristics and explores the role of policy in attracting and retaining foreign investment. We contribute to the literature by empirically investigating the investment motivations of multinational companies in the software and information technology (IT) and financial services sectors in Ireland and those locational factors that contribute to the retention of FDI. The methodology used in this research is of a qualitative nature, and an exploratory deductive approach is adopted in order to gain an understanding of firms’ internationalization decisions and motivations. The data demonstrate that companies in the two sectors follow different investment motivations. Firms in the software and IT sector entered Ireland primarily because of the availability of a high‐quality workforce, whereas firms in the financial services sector entered Ireland following the deregulation of markets and the subsequent ease of doing business.
