Price-quality competition in the exports of the Central and Eastern European Countries

In the decade since the fall of the Berlin Wall the number of CEEC products able to compete in export markets has steadily increased. The quality level of these products still lags substantially behind that of EU products, however. The quality level of new CEEC products coming into the market is, in fact, lower than that of older surviving products, indicating that the CEEC countries are increasingly specialising in price-sensitive sectors. The following article uses the concept of unit value to analyse the changes in the price-quality competitiveness of CEEC exports. 对我国学者关于中国对中亚五国投资的研究成果进行了系统性梳理,发现中国对中亚五国投资的研究主要分为四个研究方向,即明确了投资的定义;中亚五国的投资环境分析;中国对中亚五国投资现状、区位选择以及影响因素分析;中国对中亚五国的投资效应和效率分析。基于数据可得性,相关研究文献以定性分析为主,定量分析较少。

一、当前独联体和中东欧地区政治、经济形势 独联体、中东欧国家政治局势总体上比较稳定.普京当政后,俄采取了一系列整顿吏治、振兴经济的措施,得到民众和国际社会的信任,政局稳定;独联体其他国家及波罗的海三国虽国内党争激烈,少数国家间因领土等问题存在不和,但各国政权交接顺利,政局基本平稳;中东欧国家多党议会体制已基本确立,政治上走向成熟,总体形势稳定,但由于马其顿、科索沃的民族冲突未获彻底解决,南斯拉夫最近更改国名面临继续解体,因此巴尔干地区实现持久稳定尚需时日.

2008 East Asia Investment Forum was held from May 10 to May 11 in Beijing with the theme of ＂Investment Cooperation in East Asia Facing Global Financial Fluctuations＂. EU Challenges,Investment in the EU and the Role of the European Investment Group

While monetary policy is close to the limits of what it can achieve, consensus on a more active fiscal policy is still lacking. Indeed, on the political front, Europe stands at something of a political crossroads, facing growing social, economic and political challenges. Efforts are now focused on pragmatically advancing on key common priorities. The urgency and ambition with which this co-operation proceeds will be critical to success.     

Modeling FDI based on a spatially augmented gravity model: Evidence for Central and Eastern European Countries

Based on a spatially augmented gravity model, the current paper isolates spatial interrelationships in foreign direct investment (FDI) to Central and Eastern European Countries (CEECs) not only across the destination but also across the origin country dimension of FDI. Results show that (i) spatial interrelationships across destination countries are present and are consistent with the predominance of vertical-complex FDI in total FDI; (ii) spatial correlation across origin countries is given in earlier years of transition, while spillover and competition effects cancel over the whole sample period; and (iii) agglomeration forces gain in importance for FDI to CEECs.     

中国与“一带一路”沿线中东欧国家物流绩效对比分析

“一带一路”沿线国家间物流合作对“设施联通、贸易畅通”意义重大,如何加强物流合作,需要进行科学决策。世界银行发布的物流绩效指数(LPI)已成为评价各国跨境物流绩效综合水平的工具,利用该工具进行分析研究,可以为跨区域物流合作提供决策参考。中国与“一带一路”沿线中东欧国家的合作是目前最具区域板块价值的合作机制,即“17+1合作”,需要进行系统性的合作机制研究。利用“一带一路”沿线中东欧17国的LPI,通过多维分析,可探索中国加强与中东欧国家之间的跨境物流合作新路径。在验证LPI6个子要素衡量一个国家物流绩效水平合理性的基础上,通过对中东欧17国LPI的平均值、增长率和变异系数进行分析发现,影响中东欧与中国物流绩效的重要因素依次为基础设施水平、物流质量和服务能力、货物追踪性、国际运输能力、海关效率、货物运输时效性。另外,对中东欧17国LPI的6个子要素进行聚类,并对不同群类进行针对性分析。在“一带一路”建设背景下,中国应充分发挥亚洲基础设施投资银行平台和丝绸之路基金的主导优势,提升跨境物流通道设施水平,加快建设“一带一路”自贸区,构建物流大数据信息中心,打造中东欧物流枢纽网络,促进中国与中东欧国家之间的跨境物流、供应链合作。

A large number of shortcomings are still to be found in their banking systems, however, and the speed of reforms, after a lightning start, has slowed down to a snail’s pace.

Summary

Foreign Direct Investment has gone through three distinct phases in Central American history. First, it was mainly in the form of agricultural development during the agricultural export-led growth era. The import-substitution era saw manufacturing enter as well. The non-traditional export promotion strategy currently in place attracts firms seeking to use the region as a platform for exporting outside the region. Modern FDI generates greater linkages with the rest of the economy than in the past. However, remittance of profits is still large and problematic.

Foreign Direct Investment and European Integration in the 1990s

This paper examines the effects of EU integration in the 1990s on the FDI relations in Europe. We find that the completion of the Single Market, the 1995 enlargement and the so-called Eastern enlargement are characterised by a substantial, positive anticipation effect in the period between the announcement and the formal establishment of each integration step. Neither the Single Market Programme nor the previous enlargement exhibited any further positive effects on intra-EU FDI volumes after their establishment.
