Summary In this review article of D. B. J. Schouten'sDynamische Macro-economie the book is characterized as a remarkable achievement in modelbuilding. It may sharpen the reader's wit but it may also lead him astray. Beyond the Greek alphabet a good deal of prejudice is hidden. The reviewer points to a number of asymmetrical assumptions Of the models, and warns against Schouten's neo-classical belief in sustained growth. The political conclusions, and in particular the idea that any stabilization policy is doomed to fail, are criticized. These conclusions are the natural outcome of Schouten's interrelated assumptions, beliefs and prejudices. The reviewer objects against Schouten's tendency to present his political ideolgy in the disguise of a scientific system.
