The main fields of Iran and China coopera- tion are energy,petrochemicals,chemicals, machineries,textile and steel industry.In 2006,Sino-Iranian two-way trade reached US＄14.45 billion,a year-on-year increase of 43.3%.Among this total,about US＄4.5 billion belonged to China's exports to Iran,and about US＄10 billion came from imports from Iran,up 46.2% and 46.7% re- spectively over the last year.We imported about 16.8 million tons of Iranian oil in that single year.In the first half of 2007,a num- ber of agreements in various areas have been reached by the two countries.In spite of the close bilateral ties,there is still huge room for both sides to further strengthen their economic cooperation. At that time,air legislation wassomething nonexistent in China.Thedraft team assembled forces totranslate the air laws of various foreigncountries,including the United States,Britain,Japan and the former SovietUnion,and the relevant internationalconventions,and conducted a deep-going study of them.They also madeinspection tours of the United States,Canada,Britain and Germany.Onthe basis of the study of and withreference to the advanced legislativepractices in foreign countries,thedraft team put forward its first draft ofthe air law in July 1983,in accordancewith the actual conditions of thecountry.It was not,however,submitted to an executive meetingof the State Council for examinationand discussion because a series ofmajor problems such as air trafficcontrol and the control over theairworthiness of aircraft,had to befurther investigated and studied.

Air Canada to Introduce non-Stop Flight from Beijing to Toronto

Air Canada, one of the largest Airlines worldwide recently announced that effective from June 2, 2005 (June 3 Beijing Time), the Airline will launch its nonstoo flight service from Beijing to Toronto. As the second largest crude oil producer in the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC),Iran exports 2.6 million barrels of crude oil on a daily base,around 20％ of which are for the EU countries,mainly Italy,Spain and Greece.Since the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA)announced last November that Iran's nuclear programs were for military use,the international community led by the US and Europe has been stepping up sanctions against Iran.The EU approved in January the ban to import petroleum from Iran,but it postponed the date for full implementation to July 1 of 2012,so that Greece,Span and Italy may have enough time to find alternafive supplies.This initiative has sparked off violent reaction in Iran and many senators and governmental officials have even claimed that petroleum will not be exported to some EU countries.
