Since 2002, China foreign trade development has been keeping a20% growth for 4 consecutive years, listed the 3rd in the world. General Administration of Customs of P. R. China has promulgated the 2005 for eign trade situation of China.The statistics show that the foreign trade of China surmounted US$1 trillion in 2004, and reached up to US$1.42 trillion in 2005, with a growth rate of 23.2%,which was 2.8 times the number of 2001,the beginning of the period of the tenth five-year plan. The export was US$762billion, with a growth rate of 28.4%; the import was US$660.12 billion, with a growth rate of 17.6%.

China's Foreign Trade Got Good Performance

At present,due to the severe global COVID-19 pandemic,changes that used to take a century to happen have sped up,while the global environment is becoming more complex and uncertain.In 2021,China’s foreign trade had good performance.According to the data from the General Administration of Customs,in 2021 China’s foreign trade,both imports and exports grew quickly,topping USD 5 trillion and USD 6 trillion in one year,and reaching a new record high.Meanwhile,the quality of China’s foreign trade was improving steadily,making a good start for the foreign trade industry during the 14th Five-Year Plan period.     

New Curbs on Processing Trade for A New Trade Pattern

China recently announced a new policy that seeks to rein in the de- velopment of processing trade in re- stricted commodities,in a bid to op- timize the country's exporting struc- ture,put strong curbs on the export of"high-energy-consuming, high- polluting and resource-dependent"products,and discourage the export of commodities with low added value and poor technology content,so as to gradually eliminate trade frictions, and promote trade balance to ease tension caused by the too wide trade surplus.The change is instrumental in upgrading the present processing trade system,transforming the pat- tern of foreign trade growth mode, and promoting the sustainable devel- opment of social economy.     

Foreign Trade Requires Balanced International Payment

The continuous huge trade surplus has caused unbalanced international payment. In 2006, the trade surplus reached US177.6 billion. This has had a negative impact on the country＇s foreign trade development, and is therefore a detriment to the healthy development of the national economy, The government has attached great importance to this issue, and is ready to take effective measures to deal with it.     

CIFTIS: Using Action to Promote the Development of Trade in Services
