China Kunming Import ＆ Export Commodities Fair （known as Kunming Fair） is a regional trade fair jointly sponsored by China＇s seven local governments, i.e. Sichuan, Yunnan, Guizhou, Guangxi, Tibet, Chongqing and Chengdu. Kunming Fair has been successfully held annually for sixteen consecutive years since 1993, and embraces its 17th session from June 6 to 10, 2009. During the Kunming Fair, a special South Asia Exhibition is held at the same time, and it is its 2nd session this year.

Who Buys Fair Trade and Why (or Why Not)? A Random Survey of Households

We conduct a random survey of Michigan (United States) households to gauge consumer behavior toward, and awareness of, fair trade. Around 58% of respondents have heard of fair trade and just over a quarter have knowingly purchased a fair‐trade product. Of the 38% of respondents who indicated a willingness to pay a premium for a fair trade product, the median premium they were willing to pay was around 20%. We find that those who are politically liberal, female, younger, and have attained higher levels of education are willing to pay higher premiums for fair trade, other factors held constant. Respondents who are unwilling to pay a fair trade premium are divided between not doing so because of a belief that all voluntary trade is already fair and a fear of potential unintended negative consequences on workers.

Care labelling for upholstered furniture: consumers’expressed needs and preferences

The issue of care labelling for upholstered furniture has been debated by U.S. government officials and furniture manufacturers since 1974. While the Federal Trade Commission in 1982 voted not to include upholstered furniture in a move to extend coverage to products other than apparel, they did order a continuing investigation into this area. FTC officials solicited an opinion from industry representatives on the necessity of providing care labels for upholstered furniture at this time; however, they did not seek consumer input. An investigation into consumer preferences for care labelling on upholstered furniture was needed. This study was designed in two phases. Phase 1 consisted of a market survey to assess the availability of written care information on upholstered furniture at a local level. The second phase was a mail survey of consumers that collected data on expressed needs and preferences for upholstered furniture care labelling.     

Grounds of Visitors' Post-Trade Fair Behavior: An Exploratory Study

ABSTRACT

This paper attempts to gain a deeper understanding of trade fairs as services, analyzing determinants of visitors' post-trade fair behavior (i.e., global satisfaction and future intention) according to their main objectives for trade fair participation. We discuss the fact that trade fairs represent a peculiar type of service, since the evaluation of satisfaction with the trade fair depends not only on the service provider (the organizer) but also on another stakeholder (the exhibitor). The nature of the study is exploratory and uses a survey applied to visitors at a business-to-business (B2B) international trade fair held in Portugal. The main conclusion is that, in the particular case of trade fairs as services, the role of the exhibitor is more important than the role of the organizer in determining the visitor's global satisfaction and intention to participate in future editions of the trade fair. The study contributes to trade fairs and services marketing literature and allows drawing of managerial implications, particularly relevant to trade fair organizers.

China Auto International Exhibition Tour was held for the first time as early as 1995,as an important pioneering undertaking.In fact,the first session of the tour was more appropriate to be called "National Exhibition Tour",as the tour team only traveled within China's borders.28 cars and motorcycles from China's four maior manufacturing groups took 20 days to travel around half of China.     

An event of world-wide attraction

This year's Hanover Fair will be held from April 26 to May 5. As a display of technical achievement this fair has attracted world-wide attention and gained general recognition among the growing number of similar events. The number of German and foreign exhibitors, many of them with names known the world over, as well as the still rising flood of visitors are evidence of the Hanover Fair's prominent position, particularly in the sphere of investment goods. In order to learn how this event appears from the point of view of a large-scale enterprise we had a talk with Professor Dr Matthias Schmitt of the Allgemeine Elektricitaetsgesellschaft AEG-TELEFUNKEN about the significance of this year's fair and about some special aspects of fair policy.

The 101^st Canton Fair, Import Functions Added, Eyes New Market, New Trade Partners

The 101st Session of Canton Fair will be held in Canton city,Guangdong province from April 15 to 30, 2007. The fair, used to be named as China Export Commodities Fair for 100 sessions, is to be rebranded as China Import and Export Fair.
