AbstractThis is a bibliometric study of reference literature related to the influence of national culture issues on expatriate management. It is based on publications in elite Management, International Business, and Human Resource academic journals between 2000 and 2012. The database comprises 222 articles involving 368 authors and 223 academic institutions. The analysis uses a broad scoring procedure that includes: (I) scholars and institutions’ productivity in terms of number of publications (both, total and adjusted), (II) authors and institutions’ productivity in terms of potential impact based on journals’ performance (a wide spectrum of different metrics is used in order to allow for alternative perspectives), and (III) a citation analysis. The use of multiple and diverse scores provides a comprehensive understanding of the ranking of academic institutions and scholars within this particular subfield of research. In addition, the article analyzes collaborative research patterns, expected institutional influence in the near future, and main issues to be included in the field’s research agenda. 相似文献

Business model innovation is an emerging hot topic in management research. It has been developing steadily for 20 years and has gained enormous momentum in recent years. A solid basis has been created, and the first literature reviews summarize the topic. However, an analysis of the core literature and the general foundation of business model innovation literature is missing. This gap is closed with this bibliometric. It analyzes 30 core articles referenced in 380 business model innovation publications. From this, a total of four research clusters can be delineated. This foundation of the research area is supplemented with a trend analysis of recent publications, which identifies three trends for the future of this research stream. The analysis highlights that sustainability, dynamic capabilities, and small- and medium-sized enterprises are the most promising trends in business model innovation. Based on the results, we present a general model for business model innovation. 相似文献

Researchers have shown that the effectiveness of leaders depends to a great extent on their capacity to develop productive teamwork among followers. This study proposes that servant leadership, as it emphasizes service to others, team consensus, and the personal development of individuals, lays the groundwork for effective co‐ordination among team members so that together they serve their customers. The study collected data from 113 customer service teams from a sample of consumer electronics retailing firms in Beijing, China. Our findings indicate that to the extent that they have servant leaders, teams are able to discuss their disagreements, frustrations, and difficulties directly and work out solutions for the benefit of the team and their customers. These results provide support to the notion that improving the capacity to manage conflict co‐operatively can be a useful means for servant leaders to enhance teamwork and customer service in China and perhaps in other countries as well. 相似文献

The purpose of this study is to analyze the existing literature on human resource management (HRM) from all the research papers published in The International Journal of Human Resource Management between 2000 and 2012. The authors apply bibliometric methods to identify the main research lines within this scientific field; in other words, its ‘intellectual structure’. Social network analysis is also used to perform a visualization of this structure. This study investigates the effect of celebrity–charity co‐branding fit on perceived celebrity philanthropy (celanthropy), attitude towards the celebrity and charity, as well as donation intention. We manipulate celebrity–charity functional fit through a 2 (celebrity: comedian vs athlete) × 2 (charity: comedy related vs sports related) factorial design whilst controlling for celebrity credibility (attractiveness, trustworthiness and expertise). Results show that a functional fit between the celebrity and charitable organisation encourages positive altruistic attributions in terms of perceptions of celebrity social responsibility, and egoistic attributions, with regards to celebrity and charity attitudes, and donation intention. Finally, results demonstrate that celebrity–charity fit (athlete (comedian) with sports related (comedy related) charity) can promote positive attitudes towards a celebrity and charity brand, as well as donation intention, with these relationships mediated by perceptions of celebrity social responsibility or philanthropy. Findings from this research are able to aid nonprofit organisations and celebrity brand managers in the creation of effective and persuasive co‐branding alliances. The present qualitative research provides an in‐depth study of synergistic co‐mentoring (SCoM) to understand its features and implications for HRM. We examine dyadic synergistic qualities and processes, and dyadic co‐mentoring developmental qualities and processes that complement each other to make possible the emergence of SCoM. Using NVivo qualitative software, we analyzed interviews from a diversified sample of 26 matched mentoring dyads. Results demonstrate that communal sharing in the endeavor toward combinative outcomes complemented by co‐mentoring supports intra‐relational conditions for the emergence of SCoM. 相似文献

The objective of the present research is to examine the effectiveness of “teaming with the client,” using blended service provider–client teams as an organizational strategy for achieving effective co‐production engagements. The results show that having a blended team creates a more trusting relationship between the project manager and client. The client's trust results in greater team trust, team cohesion, and team performance. However, the research also demonstrates an important limitation to the use of blended teams. In blended teams, when the client does not trust the project manager, significant problems arise for the team itself as compared to non‐blended teams. 相似文献

This study examines antecedents and outcomes of leader—member exchange (LMX) in China by relating the theory of co‐operation and competition and the research on organizational citizenship behavior (OCB) to LMX. One hundred and seventy supervisor—subordinate dyads in a watch‐case manufacturing factory in southern China were studied. Co‐operation and competition and LMX were assessed by subordinates, and OCB by their immediate supervisors. Structural equation modeling analyses indicated that co‐operation and competition predicted LMX, which in turn predicted OCB. These results were interpreted as further suggesting that a quality relationship between leader and follower is important and that the theory of co‐operation and competition can guide building this relationship. 相似文献

Family firms represent a globally dominant form of organization, yet they confront a steep challenge of finding and managing competent leaders. Sometimes, these leaders cannot be found within the owning family. To date we know little about the governance contexts under which non‐family leaders thrive or founder. Guided by concepts from agency theory and behavioural agency theory, we examine the conditions of ownership and leadership that promote superior performance among non‐family CEOs of family firms. Our analysis of 893 Italian family firms demonstrates that these leaders outperform when they are monitored by multiple major family owners as opposed to a single owner; they also outperform when they are not required to share power with co‐CEOs who are family members, and who may be motivated by parochial family socioemotional priorities. 相似文献

This paper features the application of a novel and recently developed method of statistical and mathematical analysis to the assessment of financial risk, namely regular vine copulas. Dependence modelling using copulas is a popular tool in financial applications but is usually applied to pairs of securities. Vine copulas offer greater flexibility and permit the modelling of complex dependence patterns using the rich variety of bivariate copulas that can be arranged and analysed in a tree structure to facilitate the analysis of multiple dependencies. We apply regular vine copula analysis to a sample of stocks comprising the Dow Jones index to assess their interdependencies and to assess how their correlations change in different economic circumstances using three different sample periods around Global Financial Crisis (GFC).: pre‐GFC (January 2005 to July 2007), GFC (July 2007 to September 2009) and post‐GFC periods (September 2009 to December 2011). The empirical results suggest that the dependencies change in a complex manner, and there is evidence of greater reliance on the Student‐t copula in the copula choice within the tree structures for the GFC period, which is consistent with the existence of larger tails in the distributions of returns for this period. One of the attractions of this approach to risk modelling is the flexibility in the choice of distributions used to model co‐dependencies. The practical application of regular vine metrics is demonstrated via an example of the calculation of the Value at Risk of a portfolio of stocks. 相似文献

Cross‐cultural researchers have recently argued the need to develop frameworks that can help a diversity of individuals overcome obstacles to work together productively. This study proposes that a co‐operative, compared to a competitive and an avoidance, approach to managing conflict can strengthen relationships between foreign managers and Chinese employees. These relationships in turn facilitate trust and job commitment. Using the critical incident technique, Chinese employees from mainland China were interviewed on their interactions with their American and Japanese managers. Results support the hypotheses that co‐operative, but not competitive or avoidance, conflict management helps employees and their managers develop quality relationships and strengthen trust and commitment. Co‐operative conflict management may be an important way to overcome obstacles and develop e fective relationships within and across cultural boundaries. 相似文献

An effective economic system enlists the co‐operation of all production factors, increasing welfare and reducing transactions costs. The co‐ordination mechanism is activated through decentralisation that shifts decisions on resource control from a higher to a lower level in the institutional hierarchy. Failure to incorporate successful decentralisation into the structure of socialist economies ultimately leads to collapse. Real socialism collapsed because it did not involve decentralisation. This study examined the current trade shortage in Australian industry from the perspective of fewer young people entering the trades. We investigated the extent to which certain variables (relationship with their boss/supervisor; relationship with their co‐workers; extrinsic motivation within the compensation subscale; the use of emotion‐focused coping styles rather than problem‐focused styles; and apprentices' work expectations) could predict their intention to quit or stay in the job. Of the five predictors, only two (relationship with their boss/supervisor and/or their relationship with their co‐workers) were found to have the ability to significantly predict intention to quit. Comparisons between Queensland and Victorian participants led to the conclusion that an apprentice's choice to stay in or leave their trade was individually specific, and was most likely not based solely on one explicit factor, but on a range of work‐related factors, which they, personally, considered important. 相似文献

This paper aims to offer new theoretical and empirical insights into co‐evolutionary development. Theoretically, it advances a political perspective which focuses on the role of power and how this can be translated into influence as an evolutionary driver through the relational framework between an organization and external parties. Empirically, the paper elaborates this perspective by reference to how China's largest container terminal evolved within a changing environment, and how its evolution in turn impacted on the evolution of its sector. In this case, the key relational framework was that between the organization and government institutions. Application of a political perspective to the case study suggests a theoretical model that can inform future research and practice. 相似文献

When does social support alleviate or exacerbate the effects of being excluded by colleagues in the workplace? This study integrates belongingness and social support theories to predict and demonstrate the differential effects of work‐related support (i.e., perceived organizational support; POS) and non‐work‐related support (i.e., family and social support; FSS) on employee reactions to co‐worker exclusion. Consistent with our predictions, we found that employees reporting high levels of co‐worker exclusion and high levels of perceived organizational support demonstrate higher levels of performance and increased levels of self‐worth than those reporting low levels of POS. Alternatively, support from family or friends intensified the negative relationship between co‐worker exclusion and self‐esteem and the positive relationship between co‐worker exclusion and job‐induced tension. Unexpectedly, FSS did not influence the supervisor‐rated task performance of excluded workers, nor did POS mitigate the relationship between co‐worker exclusion and job‐induced tension. Implications for theory, research, and practice are discussed. 相似文献
