Shanghai Expo Updates： Preparation Progress Reported to the State Council

On February 11, Premier Wen Jiabao hosted the executive meeting of the State Council, where preparation progress of the Shanghai Expo was reported. Wang Jinzhen, Vice Chairman of CCPIT, Member of the Shanghai World Expo National Organizing Committee and Executive Deputy Director of the Liai-son Group of the Shanghai World Expo National Organizing Committee, at-tended the meeting.     

Update: Preparation Briefing Meeting for Shanghai

On March 9,the preparation briefing meeting for Shanghai World Expo was held in Beijing.Shanghai Mayor Han Zheng,CCPIT Chairman Wan Jifei,Assistant Foreign Minister Liu Jieyi and three deputy directors of Shanghai World Expo Organizing Committee addressed the meeting.     

Three Steps of CCPIT

CCPIT is busy with the ＂two sessions＂, especially its Chairman, Wan Jifei, who is also a member of the Standing Committee of the 11th National Committee of the Chinese People＇s Political Consultative Conference （CPPCC）, in the field of international friendship activities. This time Wan＇s role for the two sessions is more focused on his title of Vice Director of the Shanghai World Expo Executive Committee. On March 8, Wan attended a special press conference on the World Expo 2010, pledging that the financial crisis would not affect the overall success of the Expo. CCPIT, as one of the key organizers of the World Expo 2010, is faced with public concern about what will be done to combat the global financial crisis and its effects.     

The Signing Ceremony of China Pavilion Project Held in CCPIT

On January 23rd,the Organizing Committee for the China Pavilion at the 2008 Saragossa World Expo signed a contracting agreement with the subsiding decoration company of China Construction First Building at CCPIT on the basic structure project of the China Pavilion at the Saragossa Expo,marking the carrying out of relevant construction of the pavilion.     

We're Ready for Expo 2010 Shanghai

Expo 2010 Shanghai makes Shanghai a world focus once again. On the 30-day countdown to the opening ceremony, Yu Zhengsheng, member of Political Bureau of CPC Central Committee, director of Executive Committee of Expo 2010 Shanghai and Secretary of Shanghai Municipal Committee of CPC, had a joint interview with reporters from both major national and Shanghai media, and answered questions on issues such as construction projects, traffic measures, ticketing and so on. During the interview, Yu Zhengsheng expressed his thanks to the people who have made contributions to Expo 2010 Shang hai. "We will make every effort, and be dedicated to Expo 2010 Shanghai," he said.

The proposals regarding the Shanghai Expo attracted the World Expo committee great concern. During the two sessions, the Shanghai World Expo organizer promised that they will play more active role in holding the expo.Though the world is suffering the global crisis, the organizer believed that this is a rare opportunity and as the World Expo 2010 to be held in Shanghai could help China overcome economic difficulties and lift the world out of the crisis shadow.
