The 99^th Canton Fairs Ready for New Development

During the mid period of April, the Canton Fairs will greet the 99th in Guangzhou city. Quite different farm the farmer fairs, the 99th Canton Fairs will take tangible measure to promote the quality and the brand image of the exhibition.     

Textile and apparel turnover at Canton Fair increased

According to the data of the 107th China Import and Export Fair （Canton Fair）, up to May 3, the total turn volume of textile and garments reached 2.408 billion US dollars, 11.7% growth compared to last session, and increase of 20.46% compared to the 105th Canton Fair. The turn volume of garments and accessories is 1.32 billion US dollars, 54.9% of the total volume, 4.6% up compared with the 106th Fair and 25.17% increase compared to the 105th. The fabric and raw materials of textile yarns also increased at turn volume.     

Highlights and Uncertainty in the RECOVERY GROWTH

Canton Fair has been called the weatherglass of Chinas foreign trade. Due to the effects from the financial crisis on the global economy two years ago, the recent Canton Fairs have been held with a greatly decreased turnover. Canton Fair, New Functions Perform In the New Era——Interview with official of China Foreign Trade Center

Sponsored by the Chinese Ministry of Commerce (formerly known as the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation), the Chinese Export Commodities Fair, or Canton Fair, is held in April and October every year in Canton city, Guangdong Province. All domestic general import and export companies, as well as their provincial branches, are welcomed to participate. The first Canton Fair was held in the spring of 1957. Many different industries and fields were represented there: rice, cooking oil, food, farming products, textiles, silk, light industry, crafts, the chemical industry, the pharmaceutical and healthcare industry, hardware and ore-mining industry, mechanical industry, electrical industry, and non-ferrous metal smelting, to name a few. The Canton Fair has grown substantially over the last fifty years, and now it has earned itself a reputation as "China's No.1 Fair", and as "China's Most Traditional Fair". In October, 2006, Canton Fair is greeting the 100th Anniversary. The fair has made splendid achievements, especially since the early 1980's when the policy of reform and opening-up was implemented. It is China＇s largest trade fair of the highest level, of the most complete varieties and of the largest attendance and business turnover. Preserving its traditions, the Fair is a comprehensive and multi-functional event of international importance. This autumn comes the 100th Canton Fair.     

Profile of the 103rd Canton Fair

Approved by the Ministry of Commerce of the People＇s Republic of China, the 103rd Canton Fair will be held simultaneously in Pazhou Complex and Liuhua Complex during 15-20 and 25-30 April 2008 in Guangzhou, China. We estimate that nearly 200,000 buyers from over 200 countries and regions will gather in Guangzhou to exchange information and procure products. Over 150 of worlds top 250 retailers are expected to attend the Canton Fair to make procurement.

China-Russia Trade Reaches $34.9 Bin in First Nine Months

Trade between China and Russia surged to US$ 34.9 billion in the first nine months, up 42% from the same period last year, according to China＇s Ministry of Commerce （MOFCOM）.     

Decline of US Investment in China Should Not Be a Trend

At the routine press conference of the Ministry of Commerce ,(MOFCOM)on May 17, it was released that the investment from the US to China from January to April witnessed decline.During the period, 475 companies were set up, down by 3.85% year on year and the real investment amount was US$1028 million, decreased by 28% year on year. On June 15, the Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) officially released the utilization of foreign investment in China from January to May in 2011.According to Yao Jian, the spokesman of MOFCOM, the investment from US to China from Januaryto May continued to be in decline, with the total investment for the past five months in 2011 as USS1285 million, down by 24.12% year on year.In contrast, in the same period, the investment from ten Asian countries (regions) including Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, Japan, Philippines, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, and South Korea reached US$41,236 billion, an increase of 29.28% year on year, and the investment from 27 EU countries amounted to US$2,929 billion, an increase of 9.02% from the previous year.     

The 101^st Canton Fair, Import Functions Added, Eyes New Market, New Trade Partners

The 101st Session of Canton Fair will be held in Canton city,Guangdong province from April 15 to 30, 2007. The fair, used to be named as China Export Commodities Fair for 100 sessions, is to be rebranded as China Import and Export Fair. By changing the name, a new service as import will be added, so as to encourage more import to meet the capacious market demand in China market, pursuing a more balanced and healthier international trade development.
