本文认为,第三方物流管理信息系统设计是以计算机技术为支持,通过对物流配送的各环节进行有限的资源最优配置,主要包括物流管理信息系统中心和物流企业对外的Web站点。文章提出,应将开放性、协调性和有效性作为系统开发的总体目标,系统应包括客户管理子系统、订单管理子系统、仓库管理子系统、配送管理子系统、经营决策子系统、账务管理子系统、系统管理子系统等。     

管理类专业《管理信息系统》教学影响因素研究

影响大学管理类专业《管理信息系统》课程教学效果的因素主要来自三个方面:教师、学生、环境设备。教师方面主要包括教师的知识水平、教学态度、教学方法、教学能力等;学生方面主要是学习意愿、学习能力、学习兴趣以及对教学效果产生重要的影响;环境设备方面主要是教学环境和教学设备。这些问题是普遍存在的并直接影响着课程教学效果,必须有针对性的加以解决。     

An investigation of ethical perceptions of public sector MIS professionals

Management information system (MIS) professionals have a central role in technology development, determining how technology is used in organizations, and the effects it has on clients and society. MIS stakeholders have expressed concern regarding MIS professional's role in computer crime, and security of electronically stored information. It is recognized that MIS professionals must make decisions based on their professional ethics. The Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) and the Data Processing Management Association (DPMA) have developed codes of ethics to help guide practitioners with ethical professional decision making. In this study, a model was developed from the combined ACM and DPMA codes of ethics and used in the construction of a survey instrument. The survey was conducted using public sector MIS professionals, and findings relative to the influences that codes of ethics, ethical enforcement systems, and membership in professional organizations has on ethical perception were studied. In addition, the influence that ethical obligation to particular constituencies had on respondents' ethical attitudes was also investigated. The study indicated that ethical obligation of public sector MIS professionals is stronger for management and employers than for peers, society, or clients. Ken Udas is a Research Associate with the Texas A&M University Commitment to Education program. He is completing a Ph.D. in Educational Administration. His research interests are in human services integration, participatory system design, and action research. He has recently co-authored a chapter in the ATE Handbook of Research on Teacher Education. William L. Fuerst is an associate professor of MIS at Texas A & M University and director of the Center for the Management of Information Systems. His research interests center around emerging information technologies, systems development strategies, and MIS planning. Dr. Fuerst has published in MIS Quarterly, Decision Sciences, and Journal of Management Information Systems, among others.David Paradice has published numerous articles focusing on the use of computer-based systems in support of managerial problem formulation and on the influence of computer-based systems on ethical decision-making processes. He has co-authored a book on Database Management Systems and co-edited a book of readings on ethical issues in the information systems field.     

我国第三方物流管理信息系统开发现状、问题与解决对策

本文认为,当前我国第三方物流企业缺乏对自身经营战略的定位及对管理信息系统(MIS)的合理规划,第三方物流MIS开发集中度较低,设计中没有很好地考虑客户需求,缺乏完善的相关业务信息的标准化工作执行环境。文章提出,要改进我国第三方物流MIS开发与应用水平,开发应有明确的产品定位或客户定位;第三方物流企业应仔细分析其现有物流运作流程和价值链,找出最需要改进的地方,与软件开发商共同参与第三方物流MIS规划;同时应加强信息数据的标准化。     

The ethical decision-making processes of information systems workers

An empirical investigation was conducted to determine whether management information systems (MIS) majors, on average, exhibit ethical decision-making processes that differ from students in other functional business areas. The research also examined whether the existence of a computer-based information system in an ethical dilemma influences ethical desision-making processes. Although student subjects were used, the research instrument has been highly correlated with educational levels attained by adult subjects in similar studies. Thus, we feel that our results have a high likelihood of generalization to the MIS professional community. The results indicate that MIS majors exhibit more socially-oriented ethical decision-making processes than non-MIS majors measured by the Defining Issues Test. The results also indicate that the existence of a computer-based information system in an ethical dilemma may influence ethical decision-making processes. The study makes no statement regarding MIS majors making more (or less) ethical decisions. The business ethics literature is reviewed, details of the study are presented, implications for management are considered, and directions for future research are suggested.David Paradice is Assistant Professor of Management Information Systems in the Department of Business Analysis and Research at Texas A&M University. His research interests focus on the utilization of artificial intelligence in managerial information systems and the influence of those systems on managerial decision-making behavior. His research has been presented at international conferences and has been published in several academic journals. He is co-editing a book of readings in the information systems/ethics area.Roy Dejoie is a doctoral student in the Department of Business Analysis and Research at Texas A&M University. His primary research activities investigate the influence of information systems on ethical decision-making behavior. He is also co-editing a book of readings in the information systems/ethics area.     

Rigor and Relevance: The Application of The Critical Incident Technique to Investigate Email Usage

Information systems research is often criticized for its high rigor, but low relevance. One approach to overcome the low relevance issue is to employ sound qualitative methods, out of which this study focuses on the critical incident technique (CIT) that has mostly been overlooked in IS research. The primary goal of this study is to demonstrate and validate the usage of the critical incident technique in the management information systems domain. The secondary objective is to develop a number of practical recommendations for email service providers and to offer novel theoretical insights that may be employed in future research. To this end, 107 positive and 113 negative critical incidents pertaining to email usage were collected and analyzed through classical content analysis techniques. Overall, this investigation validates the usage of the CIT in the MIS field and presents practical and theoretical recommendations.     

Marketing information system utilization: An application of self-concept theory

The impact of marketing information systems (MIS) has not been substantial and developed systems have not been highly utilized. Borrowing the theory of self-concept from the behavioral sciences, 46 system users' self-images, ideal self-images, and the images of a significant other (one who facilitates usage of the MIS) are measured and related to the image of a heavy user of the information system. The results shed some light on the system usage problem and provide some direction for marketing the MIS to marketing managers/ system users.

Determinants of knowledge management system adoption in health care

The demand for efficient knowledge management (KM) in health care is increasing because the complexity and scale of the knowledge generated from medical research and clinical practices have resulted in challenges of information overload and medical quality. These critical issues can be improved through the adoption of knowledge management systems (KMS). However, the adoption of technological innovations in health care demands an enhanced understanding of the lagged technology adoption status in the health care sector. This study uses empirical methods to investigate the determinants of KMS adoption on the basis of a national survey. Results suggest that KMS adoption is affected by organizational characteristics, KM enablers, and KMS characteristics. We emphasize that KMS adoption in health care is considerably complex because it largely depends on KM enablers and organizational characteristics and not solely on system characteristics. The implications of the findings for research and practice are outlined in this work.
