This paper investigates the motivations for a firm's demand for trade credit. Demand for credit is modelled as a function of transaction costs motivations, financing motivations, operational considerations, seller compliance issues and supplier marketing, whilst controlling for the firm's business environment and for firm characteristics such as size and industry. This paper builds on previous studies by considering a wider range of factors that can affect trade credit demand holistically on a single sample. It appears that the use of trade credit is widespread, and that it is generally perceived as an important short term financing option, although the availability of trade credit is not a major influence on supplier choice. The level of a firm's trade credit demand is found to be significantly influenced by transaction costs, financing, operational issues, marketing activities by suppliers, the firm's investment in trade debtors and firm size.  相似文献

This paper attempts to estimate the effect of corruption on the flows of exports and imports of African countries. Using the gravity model approach and annual data for the period 1998–2007, we obtain negative and statistically significant correlations between the values of exports and imports and the levels of corruption in Africa and trading partners. Thus the results support the view that corruption adversely affects international trade. Our estimates suggest that if a country with Africa’s average corruption perception index of 2.8 were to improve its corruption level to Botswana’s 5.9, its exports would improve by about 15 per cent and imports by about 27 per cent.  相似文献

This article presents a study of sex-typed service images based on gender research in marketing and service encounter theory. The purpose is to address the issues of how and why services as distinct from products acquire a sex-typed image. Two streams of research provide the variables hypothesized to influence sex- image determination: gender research provides individual variables related to the consumer him/herself, and service encounter research provides variables related to the service itself. Consumer variables include an individual's biological and psychological sex image and personal use, while service variables deal with the sex image of the firm's characteristic provider and typical customer. A study conducted to test the hypotheses that both sets of variables influence a service's sex-typed image is presented. Marketing implications for development and promotion of new services and re-positioning of extant ones are discussed.  相似文献

Frontline employee attitudes and behaviours during service encounters influence customers' perceptions of service quality. For this reason, the identification of variables that influence service behaviours is important. Much remains unknown about the factors affecting service behaviours in service settings. This study investigates service employees' attitudinal (job satisfaction and organisational commitment) and behavioural (prosocial service behaviours) responses to management strategies (internal communication, professional development and empowerment). One hundred and eighty-eight service employees contributed data, which were analysed using a structural modelling methodology. The authors found that management strategies influence service behaviours directly but the mediating role of job attitudes is not supported.  相似文献

改革开放以来,中国服务贸易虽然得到了迅速发展,但整体发展水平不高,且服务贸易与商品贸易没能做到同步发展,服务贸易在中国对外贸易中的比重偏低,最终将制约中国商品贸易的进一步发展.文章首先建立了测评我国服务贸易国际竞争力的指标体系,并运用该指标体系对我国服务贸易竞争力进行了评价及国际比较,并总结我国服务贸易竞争力不高的内在深层次原因.  相似文献

对近10年来我国服务贸易进出口贸易结构进行了经验分析,对服务贸易各部门的贸易竞争力指数和Michaely竞争优势指数进行了测算。结果表明:我国服务贸易进出口结构不合理,现代服务业发展滞后;总体国际竞争力差,发展不平衡。并对此进行了分析,得出了一些有益的启示。  相似文献

Using a large administrative data set of individual employment histories for Germany, this paper studies the relationship between offshoring and the individual risk of leaving the occupation. Moreover, a rich data set on tasks performed in occupations is used to better characterise the sources of worker vulnerability. Both material and service offshoring are, on average, not associated with an increase in occupational outflow rates. However, this association depends on the nature of tasks performed in the occupation. Higher intensities of interactive and, in particular, non‐routine tasks are associated with a larger decrease (or a smaller increase) in the occupational hazard rate.  相似文献

我国服务贸易与服务业经济协同发展的实证研究:1985-2006   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
运用协整理论与误差修正模型,本文对我国1985-2006年的服务业经济、服务贸易出口与进口的数据进行了协整分析,并建立了反映短期波动与长期均衡的VECM模型。实证结果表明:我国服务业经济与服务贸易出口、进口之间存在一个长期稳定的均衡关系;服务贸易出口始终是服务业经济增长的Granger原因,但服务业经济增长始终不是服务贸易进口的Granger原因;VECM模型显示,从短期来看,三者之间的关系由短期偏离向长期均衡调整的速度很快,且服务贸易进口的短期波动对我国服务业经济短期变化的影响更为显著。最后,本文给出了我国服务贸易与服务业经济协同发展的路径,以期改善我国服务贸易的逆差状况,并最终提升我国服务贸易的国际竞争力。  相似文献

本文运用投入产出分析方法,对我国1997-2004年间服务贸易的就业效应进行了系统的经验研究.研究结果显示,研究期内我国服务出口带动的就业人数和服务进口替代的就业人数均有所上升,服务贸易对就业的净影响较小,但呈现出向有利于就业的方向变动的趋势.研究期内服务贸易结构的变化有利于就业.服务贸易的就业效应大于工业贸易,通过发展服务贸易促进我国就业比工业贸易更为有效.  相似文献

中国服务贸易近年来得到了一定程度的发展,但总体水平仍然不高,整体竞争力较差,服务贸易各部门的竞争力状况也参差不齐,提升和发展中国服务贸易的国际竞争力成为当务之急。本文按照波特的竞争优势理论对中美服务贸易出口竞争力产生影响的因素进行了创新的实证研究。通过回归分析四项因素分别对中国和美国服务贸易竞争力的影响程度,从而判断出中国提升服务贸易竞争力的发展方向和重点。  相似文献

本文利用行业面板数据,从整体服务业、不同行业技术水平和企业登记注册类型三个维度,分析了服务贸易和服务业FDI等服务全球化因素对中国服务业工资水平的影响及其作用机制。研究发现,服务进、出口对服务业工资水平的总体影响显著为正,而服务业FDI的总体影响显著为负;服务贸易与服务业FDI对服务业工资水平的总体影响、直接影响及间接影响均存在着显著的企业与行业异质性,其中,总体影响的大小及正负是直接影响和间接影响共同作用的结果。  相似文献

随着经济发展和资源配置的全球化,生产性服务贸易与制造业的相互作用日益加深,有效地开展生产性服务贸易可以发挥规模经济从而提高制造业生产效率和资源配置效率。文章基于价值链视角,分析了生产性服务贸易与制造业分工的可能性并对其生产效率的影响程度进行了实证分析,结果表明不同生产性服务贸易部门对不同要素密集度制造业生产效率的促进作用和作用路径并不一致。根据分析结果,提出了针对不同制造业重点选择不同的生产性服务贸易部门和贸易方式,同时有效保护我国生产性服务业发展的对策建议。  相似文献

2007年以来,我国对外服务贸易出口不断增长,但同时对外服务贸易逆差却呈现出日益扩大的趋势,扭转服务贸易逆差、推动服务贸易出口持续强劲增长已刻不容缓。文章回顾服务贸易发展的影响因素并对服务贸易出口持续强劲增长的动因进行分析,在此基础上利用我国1987~2011年的相关统计数据对服务贸易出口持续强劲增长的因素进行实证分析,结论表明教育、科研、FDI、保险的水平提高对我国服务贸易出口持续强劲增长具有显著的影响;进一步提升我国教育、科研、FDI、保险的发展水平是实现我国服务贸易出口持续强劲增长的重要途径。  相似文献

本文从人力资本角度出发,运用协整和VAR模型分析人力资本与我国服务贸易出口的关系.结果表明人力资本是服务贸易出口增长的Granger原因,它们之间存在长期均衡关系;脉冲响应分析揭示人力资本对服务出口额有稳定持续的正的产出弹性,方差分解表明人力资本对服务出口的贡献较大,占40%多最后,文章就增加人力资本积累和促进服务贸易发展提出了建议.  相似文献

This study extends the price recall literature into the service sector. The authors surveyed 169 adults and asked them to recall the last price they paid for nine commonly purchased services. The findings indicate that most consumers (53%) cannot recall the last price they paid, 13% had an inaccurate price memory, and 34% remembered an accurate price. The findings also indicate that the ability to recall a price, and to recall an accurate service price varies significantly by service. Other mediating variables include frequency of usage, home ownership, and education. No other demographic variables were related to either price recall or recall accuracy.  相似文献

日本是中国最重要的贸易伙伴国之一。中国在中日产业内贸易的经济交往中基本处于较低水平,出口产品主要以劳动密集型产品为主。中日产业内贸易的特点主要还处于垂直型产业内贸易。应采取利用税收优惠引导企业主动增加科研投资;引导企业开展科技战略联盟,整合产业整体研发资源;整合高校研发力量等对策,努力实现中国对日产业内贸易类型由垂直型为主向水平型为主的贸易升级,以占据中日产业内贸易的有利地位,获得更多贸易利益。  相似文献
