For young people home is an increasingly important place to use Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and to acquire
new digital skills mainly by informal learning. In this study we focused on young people’s ICT activity in the home context
to examine what kind of theoretical or practical added value as an analysis tool this factor can give for the studies concerning
the relationship between young people and information and communication technology. Therefore we constructed a simple ICT
role variable to describe young people’s ICT activity at home. In order to find out the expressive power and functionality
of the new variable we used empirical data analysing young people’s personal qualities, external factors, ICT usage and ICT
competence in the light of the ICT role at home. The research took 2 years (2005–2007) and its empirical data are based on
the information given by the Finnish young at the age of about 14 in a geographically limited area. On the basis of the data
the personal qualities of young people characterized a young person as an ICT expert at home better than the factors in his/her
social and physical environments. The study revealed that the ICT role is a notable factor, when we want to learn more about
the relationship between young people and ICT, for example, from the viewpoints of informal learning and diffusion of innovations
and use or when we want to create a model of ICT usage or competence. 相似文献

This paper is based on the critical evaluation of an initiative devised to support young people, on the margins of criminality, to gain inclusion into mainstream society through the provision of targeted support and work experience. Through a critical analysis of the processes and outcomes of the initiative we will demonstrate that what became known as the Youth Choice project contributed much to enhance the personal and professional development of the young people engaged in the project. We will also demonstrate that Youth Choice impacted positively on young people’s knowledge and attitudes towards decision making and self-development; an improved opinion of self; the development of life skills, confidence, and self-esteem, as well as increased aspirations for the future. We conclude that there is a strong and persuasive economic argument for making similar opportunities available to all ‘at risk’ young people. 相似文献

This article presents the findings of a field experiment carried out in Madrid which aims to analyse gender and age discrimination in hiring in the labour market of Madrid. A set of five pairs of fictitious man–woman curricula was sent in response to 1062 job offers in six occupations which were advertised on Internet over an eight-month period. It was quantified subsequently the extent to which the different firms contacted more or less the candidates of different sex, age and marital status. No discrimination is detected against women in terms of access to job interviews; however, discriminatory conduct is seen regarding the phenomenon of occupational gender segregation, in the sense that there is a continuance among employers of stereotyped views on the greater suitability of women for certain tasks. No evidence is found to indicate firms showing relative discrimination against married women with children in the first phase of hiring process. And a clear evidence of discrimination is obtained on the basis of age: firms show a substantial fall in interest over interviewing 38-year-old candidates (compared to those aged 24 or 28). This would imply that the tendency to discriminate against older workers may be high, and, what is more, it may start at a surprisingly young age. 相似文献

This study demonstrates that place—defined in this article as labor market area (LMA)— provides a useful context for examining how youth manage gendered situations. Places vary by conditions in which gender is more, less or differently salient, and a particular mix of factors accommodates different individual outcomes. This study utilizes multi–level modeling to examine influence of LMA characteristics on over–time educational measures for young women (Center for Human Resource Research 1994). Hierarchical models determine place–level effects on both average outcomes (within and between LMAs) and attainment processes. A major finding of this study is that aggregate place effects channel personal decisions and outcomes of young women. Young women's educational aspirations are dependent on gender– specific variables such as the number of women in college or the number of young women married in a local area. Attainment depends on the percentage of women in higher education and a local labor market's average age at first marriage. Further, what are assumed to be positive environmental effects (e.g., manufacturing dominance) are based on structural advantages for men and actually depress outcomes for women. Notably, the influence of place is independent of strong individual–level determinants, including social class. 相似文献

This article assesses the New Deal in terms of its long-run objectives, its short-term effects and how well it is operating on the ground. This paper discusses the foundations of the normative model of strategic management and reports the results of empirical research that examined the validity of the model from the perspective of practising planners. It was concluded, on the basis of the responses, that the normative model of strategic management is an accurate representation of what planners believe to be the steps in the process at both the corporate and business-levels. The empirical literature on unemployment almost exclusively focuses on the duration of distinct unemployment spells. In contrast, we use a unique administrative micro data set for the time span 1975-2004 to investigate individual lifetime unemployment — defined as the cumulative length of all unemployment spells over a 25-year period. This new perspective enables us to answer questions regarding the long-term distribution and determinants of unemployment for birth cohorts 1950-1954. We show that lifetime unemployment is highly concentrated on a small part of the population. With censored quantile regressions we investigate the long-lasting influence of bad luck early in the professional career: Controlling for individual and firm characteristics we find that choosing at a young age what turns out to be an unfavorable occupation significantly increases the predicted amount of lifetime unemployment. 相似文献

This exploratory study provides an answer to the question what a coalition agreement means for negotiation by political parties in the House and what consequences this has for the motions submitted. Motions on environmental and immigration policy are compared at the time of two different governments. Based on the coalition agreements we estimate how much space for negotiation with regard to both issues and both periods is available. On that basis predictions are made regarding the numbers of submitted and passed motions. Moreover, a new classification is introduced in order to be able to group motions based on the intended purpose. Also predictions are made about this. The results show that, in line with expectations, fewer motions are proposed on issues where the negotiation space is limited, but this effect is not significant. However, there are significant findings with regard to motions that have passed. Where negotiation space is smaller, fewer motions pass than with respect to topics where the negotiation space is greater. As regards the different types of motions, the research gives unexpected, but interesting, results. 相似文献

现代风险导向审计理念的推行,会对独立审计质量影响因素的实证检验结果产生何种影响?由于风险变量的不可控性造成取数不宜且难以量化,使得国内外相关实证研究结果多限于非风险因素的检验。本文在全面引入风险导向审计理念的基础上,采用logistic多元回归计量方法进行变量检验,重点考察影响独立审计质量的重要风险因素。结果发现,审计质量及其影响因素之间存在因果相关关系。在一定条件下,审计质量是多种因素共同作用的结果,而风险因素对审计质量具有决定性影响。 相似文献

通过理论研究和实证研究相结合的研究方法,得到资源型企业年轻管理人才的成长路径特征。资源型企业年轻管理人才的成长大致可划分为3个阶段:见习阶段、实践阶段和定岗阶段,从参加工作到从事中层副职管理岗位,平均用时8.14年,从中层副职岗位到中层正职岗位平均用时3.8年,学历、性别、岗位均对人才的成长发展有一定的影响。本文提出加快年轻管理人才成长的措施建议主要是:打破传统人才选拔方式,不断改革和完善人才人事管理制度;加大年轻后备人才的使用力度,促进其快速成长成才;加大年轻管理人才选拔力度,优化人才队伍年龄结构。 相似文献

本研究针对高校课堂现有的教学组织形式,引入了团队竞争模式,并对考核方式进行了设计,使之最大程度的调动学生的学习积极性,同时进行了实证研究,数据分析结果表明,团队竞争模式的使用对于期末考试成绩的影响是积极的,同时能够减少不端行为发生,培养学生的团队合作能力。 相似文献
