Compatibility and unlearning in knowledge transfer in mergers and acquisitions

Despite wide recognition of the central role of knowledge and its transfer, extant research has focused much on some important aspects of knowledge transfer and paid little attention to others. We focus on two underexplored issues in the knowledge transfer literature, namely: (a) compatibility of new knowledge with recipients’ needs, interpretations of its past experiences and its existing norms, and (b) organizational unlearning, which moderates the relationship between compatibility and extent of successful knowledge transfer. We examine different types and dimensions of knowledge compatibility and organizational unlearning within our proposed knowledge transfer process framework. We situate our discussion primarily within knowledge transfer in cross-border mergers and acquisitions. Based on the proposed model, we also offer propositions future research can test.

对高等教育投入制度的研究是高等教育理论界、政府部门和高校共同关心的话题。文章通过回顾历史沿革,采用实证研究的方法,揭示教育资源在配置和使用过程中存在的现实问题,特别是关涉制度、体制和机制等方面问题,向政府和高校提出重新审视现有的拨款体制、改变现阶段结构性经费不足问题、重视预算管理等建议,从而既要确保政府拨款的科学性,提高财政资金的使用效益,用时又须充分发挥学校的自主办学权,促进高等院校健康、快速地发展。     

Worker representation and health and safety in small enterprises in Europe

The aim of this paper is to review the role that representative worker participation can play in contributing to better health and safety performance in small enterprises. The relevance of representative participation to health and safety in small enterprises is addressed and the challenges that the sector poses are discussed. Using a number of examples, including legislative approaches, trade union initiatives and joint trade union employer schemes in various countries, the paper explores some of the ways in which such challenges have been tackled.     

试论我国高校负债融资的风险与规避

当前我国各级各类高校均不同程度地面临着教育经费短缺、筹资渠道狭窄等问题,而负债融资就是解决燃眉之急的重要方式。负债融资既存在着诸多限制,又要承担还本付息的压力。因此,如何规避高校因负债融资所带来的风险就成为教育界一个不容回避而又急需解决的现实问题。本文试图从经济学的视阈,首先对我国高校负债融资的形式与动因作简要梳理,继而对负债融资的风险进行扼要分析,最后对如何规避风险提出建议。

Total Reward and pensions in the UK in the public and private sectors

Recent controversy has surrounded the relative value of public and private sector remuneration. We propose a comprehensive measure of Total Reward (TR) which includes not just pay, but pensions and other ‘benefits in kind’, evaluate it as the present value of the sum of all these payments over the lifetime and compare it for the highly educated in the UK public and private sectors. Our results suggest that TR is broadly equalised over the lifecycle for highly educated men while highly educated women have a clear TR advantage in the public sector by the end of their career. We suggest that the current controversy over public–private sector pension differentials and the perennial issues of public/private sector pay gaps requires a lifetime perspective and that the concept of TR is appropriate.

Differences in leadership behaviour and influence between public and private organizations in Greece

This paper aims at comparing certain managerial aspects which seem to affect and account for the differences in organizational performance between public and private organizations in Greece.

By presenting empirical evidence concerning leadership behaviour and influence in both types of organizations, it becomes apparent that leadership quality is not necessarily the problem in public organizations. A number of leadership substitutes and neutralizers such as bureaucratic controls, external political influence and the limited positive reward power which leaders seem to possess have to be removed in order to enhance the role of leadership in public sector organizations.     

高校财务报销流程存在的问题和优化思路
