2006 EU-China Partenariat: A Flagship Activity of EU-China Trade Development

2012 State of American Business in China

Amid rising costs and moderating economic growth,there is increasing urgency for China to enact market reforms in order to transition to a more innovative and sustainable economic model,according to the 2012 State of American Business in China White Paper released by the American Chamber of Commerce in China (AmCham China). The annual White Paper,now in its 14th edition,is written by representatives from over 1,200 member companies of AmCham China.It outlines key developments and challenges across a wide range of industries in which US member companies operate in China,from agriculture to financial services to retail It also contains suggestions for both the US and Chinese government on how to improve the business climate.     

German Companies Confident with Chinese Market amid Challen(g)es

German companies are confident with the growing Chinese market and are aiming to further expand their business operations locally,according to a recent report by Euro Asia Consulting (EAC) and the German Chamber of Commerce in China (GCC). The further expected growth in China is fueled by an increased demand from Chinese customers.70 percent of the German companies interviewed expect a growing demand,either due to the Renminbi appreciation or overall growing economy and increasing wealth,said the study based on 30 German companies doing business in China.     

Mistaking Statistics for Rigor in American Business School Research： Should China Follow,or Lead in a New Direction？

The heavy emphasis on statistical rigor that business schools in American universities place on research is questionable in general and, for business schools in China, is not necessarily a good strategy by which either to produce useful research or to distinguish themselves from business schools in the United States. The reasons for this pertain to, first, what statistical analysis is good for in science; second, what statistical analysis is not good for in science; third, what statistical analysis is and is not good for in business research; fourth, how a large sample size is not generalizable but a single case is; fifth, how action research, design research, and Herbert Simon＇s ＂sciences of the artificial＂ all demonstrate rigor without statistics; and finally, the historical context that explains the turn to statistics in American business schools but is irrelevant to China. The recommendation is for business schools in China not necessarily to reject statistical research, but rather, to also pursue other, equally scientific forms of research, including those recognized by Herbert Simon.

Langfang Economic and Technical Development Zone Founded in June 1992, the development zone is along Beijing-Tianjin-Tanggu Expressway, in the center of Bohai Economic Circle, between Beijing and Tianjin. From November 7 to 8, 2002, sanctioned by the State Council, EU Commission and CCPIT jointly held 2002 Partenariat in China International Expo Center in Beijing.382Chinese companies and 298 enterprises from 15 EU members conducted 2961 rounds of one-to-one exclusive business talks, reached 120 agreements, involving 555 cooperation projects as trade, investment and all kinds of economic and technology cooperations.

China National Textiles I/E Corp Reforms Operational Mechanism

The China National Textiles I/E Corp (Chinatex), one of the foreign trade companies in the country with the biggest import and export value, exported more textiles and expanded its business at home and abroad in 1994, in spite of the shortage of raw materials and the rise in prices. Chinatex's import and export value totalled US$2.718 billion last year, a rise of 43.9% over the previous year. The quality of the exports also improved.
