Handwerksunternehmen im Fokus der Regionalförderung?

The Joint Federal/Länder Scheme for the Improvement of Regional Economic Structures is a core instrument of German regional policy. Currently, large parts of the skilled crafts sector are not eligible for funding. However, craft enterprises play an important role for economic and social stability in less developed regions. The several examples given in this paper refer to vocational education and training, non-R&D-based innovation, the satisfaction of local demand for goods and services and various effects on regional income development. In light of this, it is argued that regional policy could place a stronger emphasis on craft enterprises in the future.     

Marketing the Police – from a Force to a Service

The British police service is a highly visible public sector organisation that in recent years has come under mounting pressures from different stakeholders, including successive Conservative and Labour governments and also an increasingly demanding public. In this setting, various business and management models and concepts have been applied to contemporary policing, but only limited research has been undertaken to date on how marketing has been adopted and utilised across the police forces of the British Isles. This paper explores the context of modern policing and suggests why the police are now being compelled to address marketing more seriously than hitherto. It draws on recent empirical work conducted across the police service and situates this within the existing literature on internal marketing. The paper concludes that marketing is underdeveloped across the police service and argues that police forces should develop their internal marketing as a precursor to successful external marketing.

Professionelle Erfassung und Dokumentation hochaufw?ndiger Pflege Mit Wirkung zum 1.1.2010 traten die pflegerelevanten OPS 2010 – die Weiterentwicklung der G-DRG um ein Instrument zur Ermittlung von hohem Pflegeaufwand – in Kraft. Der ermittelte OPS-Code führt zu einem h?heren Entgelt für die Krankenh?user. Zudem wurde eine neue Aufwandsstufe geschaffen. Damit ist es weltweit erstmals dem Deutschen Pflegerat gelungen, Pflege als Ertragsposition im Rahmen der DRG zu deklarieren.     

Communicating Environmental Information: Are Marketing Claims on Packaging Misleading?

The increased usage of questionable environmental marketing claims has become an issue of concern for academics, policy makers and consumers. Much of the research to date, has focused on the accuracy of environmental claims in advertisements, with the information on product packaging being largely ignored. This study uses a content analysis to examine the environmental information on packaging. More specifically it examines the packaging of the population of dishwashing liquid bottles available in grocery stores in a large city in Australia. Evaluation criteria are developed to classify the various types of information and the degree to which the information is "misleading". Seven different informational categories and four accuracy categories are developed. These criteria are developed based on the existing environmental advertising literature and environmental marketing regulations in the U.S. and Australia. It was found that a majority of the packaging information can be classified as being not accurate.
