EU to raise tariffs on cheap goods from China The European Union is considering raising tariffs on cheap goods from China,according to a warning issued by the Economic and Commercial Counselor's Office of the Embassy of China in Italy,Economic Information reported on August 11.

Bo Xilai, Minister of Commerce, indicated China‘s stance on the issue of textile disputes with the United States of America(USA) and the European Union(EU) in a press conference of the State Council on May 30. 　　China will not accept the Overall Arrangement Bythe USA, nor the Guidelines for the use of safeguards on Chinese textiles exports to the EU. Bo stated that the USA and the EU base their limits on China‘s textile on the quote of the Paragraph 242 of Report of the Working Party on the Accession of China, but the quote is groundless and incorrect. 　　……     

EU Seeks Strategic Partnership with China

The European Union is seeking closer cooperation with China in the context of stagnant world economy and its sovereign debt crisis. BULGARIA, Old Friend Eyes New Trade Cooperation with China

Bulgaria, one of the earliest countries to establish diplomatic relations with China in 1949, joined the European Union（EU） on January 1, 2007. This event has great significance in boosting bilateral reations between Bulgaria and China.In March,China＇s Foreign Trade interviewed H.E.Mr.Angel Orbetsov,Ambassador of Bulgaria.“Let me emphasize that the Republic of Bulgaria and the People＇s Republic of China enjoy traditional relations, wich have been thiving logn before our accession to the European Union.”Angel Orbetsov said. FDI Drops for Six Months

The FDI statistics issued by the Ministry of Commerce on May 15 show that in April he paid-in foreign investment in China accounted for 8.401 billion USD,down by 0.74％ year-on-year.So far the FDI index has suffered a negative growth for 6 consecutive months.Experts say that the gloomy economies of the European countries and the U.S.,increasing costs and slower economic growth of China,and also competitions from other developing counties will exert continuing pressures on China's FDI condition.It will be a long trend that the inflow of investment will slow down.     

New Legal Platform for Intellectual Property in China

Anew platform of laws and regu-lations related to the protection and enforcement of intellectual porooertv was inaugurated in China on July 9, 2009. Senior Officials from the Ministry of Commerce, the Delegation of the European Commission to China together with senior academics from Peking University attended the conference and introduced the operation.
