Fruitful Fifth Sino-U.S. SED at Vital time

The United States and China held the fifth Strategic Economic Dialogue （SED） in Beijing on December 4 and 5, 2008. As the special representatives, Treasury Secretary Henry M Paulson, Jr. and Vice Premier Wang Qishan served as co-chairmen of the SED. In two days, the two sides discussed strategies for managing macro-economic risks and promoting balanced growth, on open investment and trade policies, including strengthening products, food and drug safety, on respected roles in international institutions and to strengthen cooperation in energy and the environment.     

China Business Delegation Visits U.S and Canada

CCPIT will organize a business delegation consisting of over one hundred entrepreneurs to visit U.S. and Canada in June 2009, which are invited by US Chamber of Commerce, the U.S. Western Gover-nors Association and the China-Canada Trade Council. Mr. Han Meiqing, vice minister of International Liaison Department of CCPIT, announced this news on April 16, 2009 at a press conference. And they will launch a series of economic and trade exchanges. “Forum on Sino-US trade and investment cooperation” will be held in the U.S, and it will be the largest scale economic and trade exchange by China and U.S business communities since Obama took office.

China council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) Chairman Wan Jifei and US Commerce Acting Under Secretary for International Trade Tim Hauser signed a Memorandum of Understanding(MOU) on July 11,2005 to launch a new Sino-US International Partner Network in 14 major business centers across China. The MOU was signed during the Sino-US Joint Commission on Commerce and Trade annual meeting.

EU to raise tariffs on cheap goods from China The European Union is considering raising tariffs on cheap goods from China,according to a warning issued by the Economic and Commercial Counselor's Office of the Embassy of China in Italy,Economic Information reported on August 11.

The 21st International China Harbin Fair for Trade and Economic Cooperation will be held in Harbin International Conference and Exhibition Center from June 15 to 19, 2010. In recent years, the economic cooperation between China and France has developed rapidly. In despite of the .bilateral relationship was fluctuating last year, two countries kept on making their efforts to improve the relation. The 15th China-France Economic Seminar was held on April 8 and 9, in Beijing. COTTM 2009 Beijing,For Travel and Tourism

The fifth edition of China Outbound Travel and Tourism Mar- ket was held in Beijing on April 22, 2009. The past twelve months since the last COTTM turned to be a huge challenge for the travel and tourism industry. According to the World Tourism Organization （UNWTO）, the growth in international tourist arrivals has slowed down considerably due to the volatile and turbulent global economy. The final result for 2008 was an estimated growth of 2%, down from 7% in the previous year, but the forecast for 2009 is that the arrivals will be fiat at best and a few percent down at worst.     

France Welcome Chinese Business Delegation

According to the Press Communiqu6 between China and France issued on 1st April, both sides decided to conduct high-level contact and strategic dialogue ,at a proper time to enhance bilateral cooperation in various fields and promote a harmonious and steady growth in Sino-France relations. Since then, the high officials from both countries experienced a frequent meet period. Former Premier Minister of France, Raffarin, with a commercial delegation, at- tended Sino-French Economic Seminar held on April 8, and also a ground-breaking ceremony for the new Embassy of France in China followed after. President of National Assembly of France, Bernard Accoyer arrived in Beijing on April 20, for a one-week visit. When met with Wu Bangguo, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Tenth National People＇s Congress, Accoyer asked him to hand in a letter from Sarkozy, President of France, to Hu Jintao, President of PRC. It was an invitation letter for President Hu for a visit to France. Accoyer was the highest poli- tician from France who visited China in last four months after Sino-France relation became cold due to the Tibet issue. Anne- Marie Idrac, French Minister of State for foreign Trade attended the Boao Forum on April 17 in Hainan. During her 7 days＇ visit she met the Chinese high officials, and visited some of the Sino- France joint companies. When she was in Beijing, Idrac held a press conference and answered questions on the foreign trade between the two countries.

October 1st is China＇s National Day. It is a festival of great importance to the people nationwide and they celebrate it with great felicitation. For usual celebration, numerous people arrive at Tiananmen Square in Beijing to see the ceremonial raising of the national flag In the early morning. This is followed by a great ceremonial review of troops on the Tiananmen Square and various festive activities are held in different regions. When evening comes, fireworks are set off to illuminate the sky brightly and gallantly. Since National Day this year is the 60th anniversary of the founding of the PRC, the capital of Beijing will hold a special grand celebration.
