Beijing's foreign economic and trade department has devoted much attention to the import business, while continuously increasing its export value. With the rapid increase of foreign exchange reserves generated from international trade, Chinese firms have begun to exercise foreign direct investment portfolio by acquiring US properties. In 2005, Lenovo successfully acquired IBM＇s PC branch, which was regarded as a pioneering event. However, Chinese companies are still not mature in the oversea M＆A operation and have confronted many setbacks on the path.
