This paper addresses the role of integrity in global leadership. It reviews the philosophy of ethics and suggests that both contractarianism and pluralism are particularly helpful in understanding ethics from a global leadership perspective. It also reviews the challenges to integrity that come through interactions that are both external and internal to the company. Finally, the paper provides helpful suggestions on how global leaders can define appropriate ethical standards for themselves and their organizations. 相似文献

In recent years, attention has been focused on examining the implications of changing women's roles for advertising strategy. The study reported in this paper compares magazine readership habits of two small matched samples of working and non-working wives in the U.S. and France. No major differences emerge in the frequency and type of magazines read by working and non-working wives in either country. Thus emphasis on magazines as the major advertising vehicle does not necessarily imply a lopsided emphasis on non-working wives, as might have been expected, due to potentially greater time pressures as a working wife. 相似文献

Over the last decade, the increased use of work teams within organizations has been one of the most influential and far-reaching
trends to shape the business world. At the same time, corporations have continued to struggle with increased unethical employee
behavior. Very little research has been conducted that specifically examines the developmental aspects of employee ethical
decision-making in a team environment. This study examines the impact of a team leader’s perceived integrity on his or her
subordinates’ behavior. The results, which came from a survey of 245 MBA students functioning for 2 years in a work team environment,

The literatures on both authentic leadership and behavioral integrity have argued that leader integrity drives follower performance.
Yet, despite overlap in conceptualization and mechanisms, no research has investigated how authentic leadership and behavioral
integrity relate to one another in driving follower performance. In this study, we propose and test the notion that authentic
leadership behavior is an antecedent to perceptions of leader behavioral integrity, which in turn affects follower affective
organizational commitment and follower work role performance. Analysis of a survey of 49 teams in the service industry supports
the proposition that authentic leadership is related to follower affective organizational commitment, fully mediated through
leader behavioral integrity. Next, we found that authentic leadership and leader behavioral integrity are related to follower
work role performance, fully mediated through follower affective organizational commitment. These relationships hold when

The authors identify the challenge of holding contemporary business leaders accountable for enhancing the intangible strategic asset of integrity capacity in organizations. After defining integrity capacity and framing it as part of a strategic resource model of sustainable global competitive advantage, the stakeholder costs of integrity capacity neglect are delineated. To address this neglect issue, the authors focus on the cultivation of judgment integrity to handle behavioral, moral and hypothesized economic complexities as key dimensions of integrity capacity. Finally, the authors recommend two leadership practices to build competence in business leaders to enhance integrity capacity as an organizational strategic asset. 相似文献

Abstract The Northeast's share of US food processing activity has decreased significantly over the last three decades as many food processing firms have exited the region and located elsewhere, particularly in the South and the West. This decline has been most severe in New Jersey, the state that is frequently cited as having the most stringent business and regulatory climate in the nation. To investigate why food processors have found the New Jersey environment to be so unfriendly, this study organized focus groups of food processing industry executives, trade organizations and researchers. The findings suggest that the area of environmental and other regulation is the most problematic for food processors. Other areas of concern include, in order of importance, taxation and fiscal problems, economic barriers to development and expansion, high cost of doing business, education, training and labor concerns, communication and public relations, and transportation. Policy makers in New Jersey, and in other northeastern states facing similar food processing declines, interested in the retention and economic development of food processing firms need to be cognizant of the impediments currently constraining the industry. Industry-based public policy recommendations for enhancing the business climate for food processors are presented. 相似文献

本文认为,现代物流业对企业竞争力具有重要影响,现代物流与宏观经济、企业发展及人民生活具有密切关系。文章指出,2007年中国物流业在油价上涨等不利因素冲击下实现了平稳增长;经过几年的发展、调整和重组,物流企业与物流市场集中度有所提高;物流业发展外部环境进一步改善。但我国物流业发展也存在诸多困难,如成本约束普遍加大、物流基础服务项目特别是公路运输环节竞争过度、物流供需双方有效需求不足等。为促进我国物流业发展,必须加速第二产业的"第三产业化"进程,把企业非核心业务全部或大部分外包,特别是把第二产业的物流服务业外包,以提高核心竞争力;必须认识供应链、走进供应链、构造供应链、优化供应链,供应链里无论主角还是配角,都要结成战略联盟,实现共赢;必须发展高端物流服务,从制造业寻找突破口,促进现代制造业与服务业的有机融合,从而降低我国制造业过高的物流成本,实现制造业与物流业的联动发展。 相似文献

The Effects of the Perceived Behavioral Integrity of Managers on Employee Attitudes: A Meta-analysis
Perceived behavioral integrity involves the employee’s perception of the alignment of the manager’s words and deeds. This meta-analysis examined the relationship between perceived behavioral integrity of managers and the employee attitudes of job satisfaction, organizational commitment, satisfaction with the leader and affect toward the organization. Results indicate a strong positive relationship overall (average r = 0.48, p<0.01). With only 12 studies included, exploration of moderators was limited, but preliminary analysis suggested that the gender of the employees and the number of levels between the employee and the manager are potential moderators of the relationship. In the current sample of studies, country where the research was conducted did not seem to have any moderating effects. In addition to suggesting further investigation of potential moderators, we call for research that examines the relationship between behavioral integrity and outcomes that include individual behavior and organizational performance. 相似文献

Relationships between the behavioral integrity of managers as perceived by employees and employee attitudes (job satisfaction
and life satisfaction), well-being (stress and health), and behaviors (absenteeism) were tested using data from the 2002 National
Study of the Changing Workforce (n = 2,820). Using multivariate and univariate analysis, perceived behavioral integrity (PBI) was positively related to job
and life satisfaction and negatively related to stress, poor health, and absenteeism. The effect size for the relationship
with job satisfaction was medium-to-large while the effect sizes with respect to the other variables were small-to-medium.
There was no support for the hypotheses that women would perceive lower levels of behavioral integrity and that the strength
of the relationships between PBI and the outcomes variables would be stronger among women than among men. 相似文献

This study examines the influence of perceived justice on customer satisfaction with service recovery and on the future behavioral intentions of customers in the airline industry. The study uses an exploratory research design that is quantitative in nature. Questionnaires were used to collect data, and structural equation modeling was used for hypothesis testing. The study revealed that the three dimensions of perceived justice, namely interactional, distributive and procedural justice, influence satisfaction with service recovery in the South African airline industry. However, only interactional and distributive justice had a positive influence on future behavioral intention. 相似文献
