中国流通现代化应包括流通体制改革、流通对外开放和流通发展三方面的内容,基本任务是流通市场化、流通社会化、流通组织化、流通信息化和流通信用化.推进我国流通现代化首先要解决观念问题,进一步克服轻视流通的错误倾向,加强流通理论研究,一切从中国实际出发,正确处理政府、市场与企业三者之间的关系.

Creating an Ethical Work Context: A Pathway to Generate Social Capital in the Firm

There is a need for further research to understand how social capital in the workplace can be promoted. This article studies the generation of social capital from a comprehensive perspective that integrates ethics and general management. We propose the concept of “ethical work context” as an influential antecedent of the social capital in the firm. The ethical work context, which is aligned with the “humanizing culture” approach proposed by Melé (Journal of Business Ethics 45(1), 3–14, 2003a), allows a broader comprehension of the concrete management practices and organizational dynamics that generate organizational social capital. It is argued that social capital, understood as a by-product of the ethical work context, results both from organizational design and ongoing managerial activity. Creating an ethical work context brings ethics and social capital into the realm of the general manager; a figure that has remained absent from the social capital literature.

Augustinian Moral Consciousness and the Businessman

Augustine of Hippo (354–430 A.D.) meditated on the transcendent attributes of numbers that accountants so skillfully employ and on the attributes of moral rules. He thereby achieved a profound awareness of their Source in Truth. Nature is also governed by numbers; it is a “melody” that, again, woos one to its Source in Beauty. Whereas some businessmen meditate to clear their minds of clutter so as to make successful business decisions, Augustine persisted beyond the mere absence of clutter. Within the stream of his own consciousness he found a focal point that led to the experience of the presence of a transcendent God in his own deeper self. The “order of love” enables one to achieve balance and a higher freedom wherein one cannot do wrong and possesses the courage to work toward building an earthly city that is just and beautiful, one that facilitates Everyman’s penetration of his own depth. Grace Natoli received her Master’s degree and Doctorate from Fordham University, having written dissertations on Augustine the Stoic and on The Actualism of Giovanni Gentile. A recipient of Fulbright and Italian government grants, she studied at the University of Genoa with Michele Sciacca, who was strongly influenced by Augustine. She studied the subjective idealism of Gentile and the objective idealism of Antonio Rosmini and of Sciacca. She is Adjunct Assistant Professor of Philosophy at St. John’s University in Jamaica, New York.

Consciousness at Work: A Review of Some Important Values,Discussed from a Buddhist Perspective

This article reviews the element of consciousness from a Buddhist and a non-Buddhist (Western) perspective. Within the Buddhist perspective, two practices toward attaining expanded and purified consciousness will be included: the Seven-Point Mind Training and Vipassana. Within the Western perspective, David Hawkins’ works on consciousness will be used as a main guide. In addition, a number of important concepts that contribute to expanded and purified consciousness will be presented. Among these concepts are impermanence, karma, non-harming (ahimsa), ethics, kindness and compassion, mindfulness, right livelihood, charity, interdependence, wholesome view, collaboration, and fairness. This article may be of use to students and workforce members who consider a transdisciplinary approach on human wellbeing in personal and professional environments.
