Australian not-for-profit (NFP) organizations are knowledge-intensive enterprises, but most struggle with knowledge management (KM), while at the same time identifying it as an increasingly important activity they must improve for an increasingly competitive and demanding environment. Replicating “corporate” best KM practices is often misaligned with NFPs’ unique cultures, finances, operations, and missions. This article advances previous work presented in this journal and highlights the importance of internal management practices as vital for success. This article draws from NFP research in knowledge and explores a key enabler (internal marketing) that has been overlooked for building a critical link between NFP staff/volunteers and the organization for building and sustaining KM in an NFP environment. Using in-depth interviewing (32 interviews) and an online survey (179 respondents), this article examines the elements of internal marketing’s benefit/value propositions to staff and the importance of personal relevance. Further, the article also explores the value of socialization strategies (such as communities of practice) as effective internal marketing channels.  相似文献

The misapplication of marketing to major American social institutions-education, religion, health care, the media, government and the legal system-has frequently undermined the fundamental purposes of those institutions, to the point that Laczniak and Michie's (1979a; 1979b) worst fears about marketing as a force for social disorder may have become a reality. 观念营销指企业在追求自身经营目标时,通过设计、推广和灌输与自身产品相关的理念,来影响消费者的消费观念,从而达成交易的过程。本文认为,企业要获得消费者认可,更重要的是观念的设计、推广以及向消费者的灌输;观念营销由观念策略、产品策略、价格策略、渠道策略和沟通策略等五个方面构成,而企业文化力、市场前瞻能力、观念力、产品力、通道整合能力等是影响观念营销成败的关键因素。  相似文献

ABSTRACT

The role of national defense research laboratories has dramatically changed since the collapse of the Soviet Union and the relaxation of “Cold War” imperatives. As these organizations are seeking new “market oriented” opportunities, the fundamental philosophy and culture of these organizations must be examined in order to determine if such firms, historically dependent on government awards and contracts, can effectively compete in the highly competitive global economy. The purpose of this study is to examine the relative compatibility of the marketing concept with the attitudes and customer service practices of one such highly confidential organization. By initiating such inquiry, it is hoped that other research and inquiry will be undertaken with the goal being to help transition the power of these basic and applied research facilities into the private sector more efficiently.  相似文献

This paper questions the validity of applying the market orientation construct, which was developed ostensibly for and in large multinational organizations, to a sector whose characteristics differ greatly. Instead, this paper argues for a new approach to the operationalization of the marketing concept in the nonprofit sector. Abstract

Marketing managers around the world are being asked to work with foreign counterparts as never before, but with limited success. This requires integration of decision making styles. The purpose of this study is to apply a management style of decision making measurement technique to selected countries of the Asia-Pacific region to determine the extent of differences in decision-making style among marketing managers.

This study surveys marketing managers within Australia, Hong Kong, The Philippines, Vietnam, New Zealand, and China. Within each country different sampling processes and modes of data collection were used by locally-based associates of the researchers, as appropriate for the country.

The study results indicate that substantive differences do exist between marketing managers from different cultural/national backgrounds within the Asia-Pacific region and these managers differ in their decision-making styles from managers in other parts of the world. doi:10.1300/J042v21n01_06  相似文献
