ROK, China Strive for Mutual Economic and Trade Benefits

The President of the Republic of Korea （ROK） Roh Moo-hyun announced that Korea fully recognized China＇s market economy status. Roh＇s announcement was made during a joint press conference with Chinese President Hu Jintao, who was on a state visit to ROK in November. China is now the largest trading partnet of ROK, with trade volume between the two countries expected to reach 100 billion US dollars this year. The two leaders agreed that the bilateral trade volume should be doubled to 200 billion US dollars by 2012. A significant milestone having been reached between the two countries, what kind of impact can be expected to follow from the events in regards to the bilateral economic and trade relations between China and ROK？ With such questions in mind, China＇s Foreign Trade reporters interviewed Kim Ha-joong, Ambassador of ROK to China.     

More Dialogue and Further Development

In January 2008 Slovenia took over the six-month rotating Presidency of the EU Council and this is the first time since the wide EU expansion in 2004 that a new member state bears this responsibility. China is Slovenia＇s most important trading partner in Asia and in the past few years the turnover between China and Slovenia has been increasing steadily. Since 1992, China and Slovenia have maintained high-level contacts and regular dialogue. In November 2007, Slovenian Prime Minister Janez Jansa paid a visit on the state level, which was very successful and provided a new push for further strengthening of bilateral ties. This year marks the 16th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Slovenia. China＇s Foreign Trade appreciated the opportunity to interview His Excellency Dr. Marjan Cencen, ambassador of the Republic of Slovenia to the People＇s Republic of China, and discuss bilateral relations of the two countries, the new business exchange, while also taking a look at relations between China and EU.     

Invest In Karnataka

The bilateral trade between India and China has crossed US$ 51 billion in 2008. China has become India s largest trading partner and there is still a lot of scope for promoting bilateral trade between two countries. Aiming at promoting the Global lnvertors Meet to be held in Bangalore on 11 - 12 January, 2010, ＂Invest in Karnataka- Global Investors meet 2010＂ was held on September 3, 2009. Mr. Yu Ping, vice president of CCPIPT, Mr. Subramanyarn Jaishankar, the ambassador of India to PRC, the Hon＇ble Chief Minister of Karnataka with the delegation from Hon＇ble and around 100 Chinese enterprises attended this seminar.     

Sino-ASEAN Free Trade Area： More Convenience on Trade Liberalization

The Goods Trade Agreement of The Framework Agreement on Comprehensive Economic Cooperation between The People＇s Republic of China and The Association of South East Asian Nations which was signed in 2004 has been implemented on July 1,marking the start of a substantial phase of Sino-ASEAN Free Trade Area.     

＂Most Difficult Year＂ Sino-Russian Bilateral Trade in 2009

Since the meeting between Rajiv Gandhi and Deng Xiaoping more than 20 years ago, China and India, have been seeking to reach a wider range of cooperative relationship. In 2008, the trade volume reached US$52 billion, making China becoming India＇s largest goods trade partner, while India became China＇s tenth largest trading partner. According to Chinese customs statistics, in November 2009, Sino-Indian bilateral trade volume reached US$3.972 billion, up 37.9% comparing the same period of last year. This is the first positive growth that the trade volume has declined continually since January in 2009.     

BULGARIA, Old Friend Eyes New Trade Cooperation with China

Bulgaria, one of the earliest countries to establish diplomatic relations with China in 1949, joined the European Union（EU） on January 1, 2007. This event has great significance in boosting bilateral reations between Bulgaria and China.In March,China＇s Foreign Trade interviewed H.E.Mr.Angel Orbetsov,Ambassador of Bulgaria.“Let me emphasize that the Republic of Bulgaria and the People＇s Republic of China enjoy traditional relations, wich have been thiving logn before our accession to the European Union.”Angel Orbetsov said. It Pays to Invest in Chile

Chile is the first country to establish coopera-tive relations with China in South America, and also the first one to support China's ac-cession to the World Trade Organization.In 2005, Chile and China signed a free trade agreement.After that, China has become Chile's largest trad-ing partner, and Chile become China's second largest partner in South America.
