Irving Fisher and the Contribution of Improved Longevity to Living Standards

A bstract    It is not widely recognized that conventional measures of national income and output exclude the value of improvements in the health status of the population. The present study discusses the theory of the measurement of national income, proposes a new concept called "health income" that can be used to incorporate improvements in health status, and applies the theory to data for the United States over the 20^th century. It concludes that accounting for improvements in the health status would, over the twentieth century in the United States, make a substantial difference to our measures of economic welfare.     

Comments on John Geanakoplos's "The Ideal Inflation-Indexed Bond and Irving Fisher's Impatience Theory of Interest with Overlapping Generations"

A bstract    A comment on the article by John Geanakoplos in this volume.
It is refreshing to hear an account of Irving Fisher's views on risk and indexation juxtaposed with an account of our modern concerns with the same issues. It is interesting for me to hear this, partly since it shows that many of the issues we worry about today were concerns 70 or more years ago, and thus perhaps that these issues are indeed as deep and fundamental as we now think they are. But I found this history-of-thought presentation most interesting because it clarifies, by starting with simple notions that were on Irving Fisher's mind and moving forward, some of the critical issues concerning the innovations of indexation and Social Security reform.

The model of latent structure analysis for k discrete-valued variates was explained and illustrated by R.D. G ill [5], Here the latent structure model is related to a condition for a covariance matrix, as in factor analysis theory, and a word of warning is given for the interpretation of a factor analysis from discrete valued variables.     

Fisher, Keynes, and the Corridor of Stability

A bstract .   This chapter draws on the debt-deflation process of Fisher (1933 ) as well as on Keynes (1936 , chapter 19) and Tobin (1975 , 1980 ) to explore the concept of a corridor of stability, where an economy will be self-adjusting only for demand shocks small enough to leave it within that corridor.

基于改进灰色预测模型的河南省第三产业对经济增长的贡献率预测

本文主要对河南省第三产业对经济增长的贡献率进行预测研究。在对该问题的研究过程中,一种改进的灰色预测模型被应用到实际的预测之中。这种改进的模型通过采用一次累加生成序列的最后一个数值作为时间响应函数的初始值,能够有效的利用新的信息。通过实际的预测发现,该模型能够有效拟合原始数据信息,并且越靠近最新时间点,预测精度越高,效果越好。因此,该模型可以为具有小样本特征的数据提供很好的预测思路。     

中国区域经济学开创者刘再兴先生学术思想回顾

中国人民大学区域经济与城市管理研究所已故教授刘再兴先生(1926—1999年),是中国经济地理学的代表性学者,也是中国区域经济学的重要开创者。刘再兴先生自20世纪50年代起便从事经济地理,特别是工业布局的研究,改革开放后在经济地理学和区域经济学领域进行过广泛的探索,他在中国经济地理学性质、中国经济区划、地区差距和西部发展、生产分布规律、中国国土规划等问题上均有领先研究,并率先提出空间推移"主导论"思想。在长期的教学和研究过程中,刘再兴先生形成了丰富的学术思想,对中国经济地理和区域经济领域产生了重大影响,对中国区域经济学的发展起到了重要推动作用。

财政部于2006年2月15日发布了新《企业会计准则第8号--资产减值》(以下称新准则),并要求上市公司于2007年1月1日起执行,同时鼓励其他企业执行.这与2001年11月9日发布并于2002年1月1日起实施的《企业会计准则--固定资产》(以下称旧准则)相比,作了较大的修改,文中就新旧准则关于资产减值若干部题的主要变化作了探讨.
