Global key account management and systems selling

Adoption of global key account management systems typically represents a response by selling companies to two inter-related structural changes in their business environment: first, the growing internationalisation of their industry and unprecedented levels of foreign competition; and second, the urgent need to retain customers of strategic importance (i.e. key accounts) against a background of centralised purchasing and supply base rationalisation. Global key account management is central to the ongoing, and often acrimonious debate captured in the slogan, “Think Global, Act Local”, suggesting serious implications for organisation structure, co-ordination/control and relationship management. Yet global key account management is under-researched and its efficacy, therefore, only partially understood. Such matters have long preoccupied executives in multi-national companies operating in industries where “systems selling” is a way of life and where practice is ahead of both theoretical development and empirical research.

Environmental management systems: an alternative marketing strategy for sustainability

The purpose of the paper is to shed light on the extent to which environmental management systems such as ISO 14000 standards influence marketing efforts. By examining firms who prefer ISO 14000 standards against those who do not, this research provides a platform for understanding their significance when applied to marketing and seeks to improve environmental marketing strategies. The study empirically tests whether statistically significant differences exist between the two groups on a set of marketing variables. The study uses hierarchical clustering Ward’s method and measurement using squared Euclidean distances to determine the two groups. Discriminant analysis (DA) was used to classify each of the observations into selected groups; and test differences between these groups. Stepwise DA identified customer satisfaction as the best marketing predictor. This research indicates that green market-driven solutions for responsible consumption work best when it is consumer-driven, and consumers derive satisfaction from those results. The results adopts the view that investing in IS0 14000 standards is also highly beneficial for the wider applicability of developing strategies that would help firms make better decisions in marketing.     

Supply chains and their management: Application of general systems theory

This theoretical paper discusses the application of general systems theory to supply chains and the management of supply chains. Applying general systems theory to supply chains and their management allows them to be abstracted from their real world complexity. The abstraction process uses the view of general systems theory developed by Yourdon E. [1989. Modern Structured Analysis, Yourdon Press, Prentice-Hall International, Englewood Cliffs, NJ] in his seminal work on the fundamental characteristics of information systems. In particular, Yourdon's (1989) four general systems theory based principles for information systems are applied to supply chains and their management. Through a theoretical discussion informed by relevant research literature it is considered that a more fundamental view of supply chains has been developed. That is, the application of the four general systems theory principles developed to supply chains is supported and this application provides deeper insights into how supply chains operate. This in turn should allow better supply chain management processes to be developed.

Mediation effect of TQM technical factors in excellence management systems

This study seeks to examine the relationship between TQM social and technical factors and their effects on organizational results, and takes the EFQM model as a reference. Moreover, through structural equation modeling (Partial Least Squares), the study hypothesizes and tests a mediation model between social factors, technical factors and overall results. The study uses a sample of 116 Spanish firms undergoing complete assessment processes according to RADAR logic. The results show that: (1) an open, flexible and continuous improvement oriented culture, a committed and involved leadership, and efficient management of human resources (TQM social factors) exert a direct and significant impact on the effectiveness of the quality system deployed (TQM technical factors) and on the results; (2) the management and improvement of processes, the alliances with suppliers and other partners, and the management of resources (TQM technical factors) also directly influence results; moreover, (3) this variable partially mediates the effect of social TQM practices on organizational results.

无线电测控设备抗电磁干扰技术概述

针对无线电测控设备的技术特点,分析了提高抗电磁干扰的两个途径：一是隔断干扰信号 ,包括地形和金属屏遮蔽、降低天线副瓣;二是采用信号处理技术剔除干扰的影响,包括跳 扩频技术、信道编码。此外,指出了无线电测控设备根据站址实测电磁环境综合采用这些方 法,能够提高测控设备执行任务的可靠性。     

Change and continuity in management systems and corporate performance: Human resource management,corporate culture,risk management and corporate strategy in South Korea

Embedded traditional management systems can change under the influence of several forces. The 1997 Asian financial crisis was such an event. This paper empirically investigates changes in the human resource management, corporate culture, risk management and competitive strategy parts of management systems in the General Trading Companies of South Korea in terms of internal perceptions of impact on corporate performance. It finds both change and continuity, particularly in corporate culture. This indicates that cultural change in organisations is not an easy task, not least because it is associated with changes in the values, attitudes, expectations, beliefs and behaviour of people. It also shows the importance of disaggregating trends as there can be simultaneously change and continuity.

介绍了目前国内外处理废旧轮胎的主要方法及途径,重点论述了废旧轮胎翻新、热解、制造胶粉的应用情况和研究进展,分析了各种方法的优缺点,指出废旧轮胎翻新和制造胶粉是能大批量处理废旧轮胎并具有良好发展前景的处理方法。同时提出了废旧轮胎回收利用中应注意的问题及其发展前景,而且对废旧轮胎进行合理的回收利用,不仅可节约资源创造良好的经济效益,对创建良好的环境也会产生深远的影响。

The role of memory in understanding and encouraging recycling behavior

This article explores the role of memory processes in two aspects of recycling behavior. First, traditional research in cognitive psychology, communication, and consumer behavior is discussed briefly as it relates to understanding how people learn why to recycle. More importantly, a recently emerging stream of memory research, examining memory processes in real-world contexts, is introduced as a conceptual basis for understanding how people remember when and how to recycle. Additionally, these ideas are integrated to help explain the results of past recycling research and to offer suggestions regarding future recycling programs. © 1994 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.     

Hospital career management systems and their effects on the psychological state and career attitudes of nurses

The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of organizational career management efforts on the emotional states and to investigate how such emotional states shape the employees’ career attitudes. By investigating the responses from 280 nurses, we tested our research model through the structural equation modeling-based analysis. The results confirmed the effects of job rotation and assessment among the elements of the career management system on emotional states. The effects of emotional states on career attitudes—career commitment, career withdrawal, and turnover intention—were also revealed from data analysis.
