PMI： 49 in February
China＇s manufacturing activity contracted for a fifth straight month in February, but the depth of decline narrowed.
The Purchasing Managers＇ Index （PMI） of the manufacturing sector rose to 49 from 45.3 in January, 41.2 in December and a record low of 38.8 in November. the China Federation of Logistics and Purchasing （CFLP） said on March 4. A reading of above 50 suggests expansion, while one below 50 indicates contraction.

The Purchasing Managers＇ Index （PMI） of China＇s manufacturing sector stood at 53.2 percent in June, the China Federation of Logistics and Purchasing （CFLP） said on July 1.

China＇s inflation eased in May, the consumer price index （CPI）, the main gauge of inflation, rose 7.7 percent last month, marking its first significant drop since last year, the National Bureau of Statistics （NBS） said on June 12.

According to the customs＇ statistics, the total import and export value for March amounted to US$162.02 billion, 20.9% decreasing compared with the same period last year. Among the total value, the export value amounted to US$90.29 billion, down 17.1% year-on-year,

The Chinese government would not allow China Construc tion Bank （CCB） to fall under foreign control following its listing on the Hong Kong stock market last month, state press reported. CCB president Guo Shuqing said that even if Beijing were to sell more of China＇s third largest bank to foreigners, the government would not relinquish its ＂absolute control＂ over the lender, the Shanghai Securities News reported.

Im/Ex in September, 2010: Export Continued to Surge

On October 13, 2010, General Administration of Customs of the People＇s Republic of China （GAC） released the profile of China＇s import and export in September and the first nine months of this year. China＇s foreign trade in the first nine months totaled US$2.15 trillion, a year-on-year increase of 37.9 percent, according to the GAC. Trade surplus for the first nine months of the year totaled US$120.6 billion.
