Abstract

This study examines the factors motivating consumers' purchases of specialty food and beverage products via the Internet. While convenience is often cited as a motivating factor, price and product selection have also been identified. This study considered convenience in terms of time, space, and effort. It also identifies several specific sub-categories for price and products. Among respondents who had made a recent online purchase, convenience-related issues were most frequently cited as being relevant to the purchase decision. Product-related factors were important for nearly one-third of the respondents. Price was of relatively little importance.  相似文献

Agricultural markets are characterized by production and marketing lags. Uncertainty is also an inherent feature of agricultural markets. This paper investigates if two policy active importers will choose to commit to their import levels or keep the flexibility to revise their ex-ante import levels once production decisions are made and the uncertainty is resolved. This is the constant dilemma faced by prospective WTO members. We assume production in both importing countries is subject to an asymmetric random shock. We show that a government will not want to commit to its import level when there is a high degree of uncertainty in production. However, an importing country is likely to commit to a trade policy in equilibrium although the equilibrium may be Pareto dominated. Under certain conditions, an equilibrium in which one country commits to its ex-ante import level while the other chooses the flexibility option can emerge. In this setting, international trade agreements play an important role.  相似文献

Abstract

This article reports the findings of a study of heavy equipment distributors and their decision criteria for purchasing a critical add-on attachment. A key question is the extent to which basic value is the controlling factor, in comparison with value-adding services and capabilities. When customers are segmented according to their importance ratings for price and quality, significant differences in purchase decision patterns are observed. Abstract

This article examines the effective risk relievers for different dimensions of perceived risk on mail-order purchase of food products. The sample comprised 1,600 active and inactive mail-order specialty food shoppers in the UK. The analysis focused on the correlation coefficients between consumers' levels of perceived risk and their weight on the importance of the risk relievers. Amongst 15 risk relievers, the results implied that there are certain risk relievers attached to higher levels of importance by consumers, who perceive higher levels of risks in certain aspects of mail-order purchase. Therefore, mail-order companies should promote the effective risk relievers to reduce specific dimensions of perceived risks.  相似文献

本文在构建进口近邻效应理论模型的基础上,运用2000-2006年中国海关进口企业数据考察近邻效应对企业进口决策的影响。结果表明:近邻效应对企业进口决策的影响显著,近邻进口企业数量越多,潜在进口企业从相同市场进口的概率越大;从近邻效应的作用范围来看,近邻效应超出一定空间范围才会表现出空间距离衰减特征,地级市是近邻效应的最佳作用范围;从企业初始进口看,近邻效应对企业进口额的影响并不显著,在某种意义上,近邻效应只体现于企业进口决策行为,而不会影响企业首次进口表现;从龙头企业的角色来看,近邻企业中龙头企业的存在大大促进了潜在企业的进口概率。  相似文献

Abstract

This study investigated the use of price discount promotions at private clubs. The purpose was to determine whether the promotions led club members to purchase the promoted food entree items when dining at the club, and the effect of the promotions on the purchase of regular or non-promoted food and beverage items. Over three-fourths of the members who cited the promotion as a reason for visiting the club purchased one or more regular price items. Members visiting the club for the promotion spent more money on regular price items than on promoted items. Moreover, the majority of promotional purchases were made by members who did not visit the club in response to the promotional advertisement.  相似文献

Abstract

Functional foods offer consumers a range of products that contain modified ingredients to treat specific diseases. The value of this product category has grown considerably since its introduction over a decade ago. This paper reports on qualitative research conducted into the choice criteria used for functional foods. It then compares these to the categories outlined in Khan's food choice model (1981) in order to determine whether functional foods should be treated as a food choice purchase. The findings of this research show that functional food can be treated as a food purchase because most of the choice influences found can be categorised into Khan's conceptualisation. However, additions and redefinitions are suggested. A separate category for family influence was found, as was the requirement to redefine “nutrition” within the model to accommodate the curative benefits of functional foods.  相似文献

将传统的供应商选择标准归纳为品牌功能绩效,同时引入品牌情感绩效概念,以顾客满意作为中介变量、以重复购买意向作为因变量构建理论模型并提出研究假设,数据收集是通过对206家葡萄酒进口商发放问卷的方式进行的。研究发现:供应商的品牌功能绩效和品牌情感绩效都会正向影响进口商满意度,供应商的功能绩效还正向影响进口商的重复购买意向,但情感绩效没有实现对进口商重复购买意向的直接影响,情感绩效通过影响进口商满意度间接影响其重复购买意向。  相似文献

Abstract

This paper explores consumers of 18—24 years of age and their perceptions of irradiated ground beef products and role of irradiation on their purchase decisions. Data was collected with a survey of college—age consumers. Results showed that the majority of participants would be willing to purchase irradiated food products. Participants were somewhat concerned about impact of irradiation on safety and taste. The term “irradiated” and cost to consumer had a negative impact on participants' willingness to purchase irradiated ground beef products. The identification of the attributes should provide a useful guidance for the beef industry in terms of determining marketing strategies to increase the level of this segment of the consumer groups’ preference for irradiated products.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

The demand for organic products has rapidly expanded worldwide in recent years. However, the organic market remains a niche market in most countries, and research in this area remains limited. Further investigation is necessary to better understand consumer perceptions about organic food and the circumstances in which they are willing to purchase organic food. Accordingly, the authors seek to understand the perceived value that consumers associate with organic food and the factors that impact their willingness to purchase organic food. This study is exploratory in nature and uses a qualitative approach through the use of in-depth interviews. Findings from the study suggest that consumers who perceive a positive value with regard to organic food are more willing to purchase organic food, in which health was the primary perceived benefit. For consumers who perceive a negative value with regard to organic food, they are less willing to purchase organic food. Many did not see any difference between organic food and nonorganic food. Instead, they viewed the prices of organic food as being expensive and argued that more efforts are needed on their part to source for organic food. Implications and recommendations from research findings are also presented.  相似文献

Abstract

The functional beverages category is considered one of the most significant drivers of new product development (NPD) in recent years. Fifteen in-depth interviews and three focus groups were held between February and March 2003 to identify the most important attributes influencing consumers' purchase decisions for orange juice, and to explore consumers' attitudes towards existing and new functional orange juice beverages. The results suggested that functional food and beverage manufacturers should place a greater emphasis on the base product when evaluating new product concepts. This study highlighted the key role of qualitative research in facilitating the integration of consumers with the concept stage of the NPD process.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

The purpose of this study was to use an extended model of the theory of planned behavior to investigate the antecedents which lead to consumers’ purchase of state-branded food products. Relationships among attitude, subjective norm, perceived behavioral control, health-consciousness, intention to purchase, and actual purchase were examined. In addition, the moderating role of gender on consumer purchasing was assessed. The hypothetical model was empirically tested using data collected via Amazon Mechanical Turk (Mturk). Results implicated that consumers’ attitude, subjective norm, and perceived behavioral control of purchasing state-branded products significantly predicted their intention to purchase, and consumers’ intention to purchase significantly predicted their actual purchase of state-branded products. The relationship between health-consciousness and intention to purchase, however, was not found. Gender differences were found only between consumers’ perceived behavioral control of state-branded purchasing and their intention to purchase. Implications for marketers, farmers, and restaurant owners are provided.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

This paper examines the determinants that influence consumers' intention to purchase organic products. Ajzen's theory of planned behaviour (TPB) provides the conceptual framework of the research and the appropriateness of the theory is tested. A survey of 144 consumers was used to determine the beliefs which determine consumers’ intent to purchase organic food. Furthermore, attitudes, subjective norm, and perceived behavioral control were examined to determine whether they affect consumers’ intention to make organic products purchases. The findings offer considerable support for the robustness of the TPB in explaining intention in the sample. In addition, empirical evidence suggest that price, availability of organic products, product information and the subjective opinions of others are important determinants of consumers intent to buy organic products. The results are consistent with previous research.  相似文献

长期以来,决策界和学术界总体上形成了高度重视出口贸易而低估甚至忽视进口贸易在经济增长中发挥作用的倾向。进口贸易规模不断增长的事实表明进口对经济增长的作用不能简单地定论。这种增长的巨大性和重要性促使了对进口贸易与经济增长关系进行一定程度的理论和实证研究。理论上主要研究进口贸易如何对经济增长起作用,实证上主要采取横截面或时间序列数据或两者兼而有之研究两者的回归关系。笔者通过对进口贸易与经济增长关系研究进行综述,指出进口贸易促进经济增长的机制,以期对我国对外开放过程中正确认识进口作用从而制订正确的对外贸易政策有所帮助。  相似文献

In this article, the authors explore how the extrinsic cues corporate social responsibility, endorsement, and country of origin affect consumer evaluations of product quality, value, and expected product popularity for frozen Pangasius filets, a farmed fish product just recently introduced into the Norwegian market. The effects of these three variables are tested on purchase intentions. By means of a 2?×?2?×?2 factorial experiment in combination with survey data, the authors find that the three extrinsic cues under study had different effects on the evaluative variables. Furthermore, these variables all had positive and significant effects on purchase intentions. Hence, the general conclusion is that importers of new food products like Pangasius can benefit from focusing on extrinsic cues when the intrinsic cues are hard to evaluate or are unknown. Through the indirect effect on purchase intentions, extrinsic cues play an important role when consumers judge unfamiliar and new products.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

Purpose: Realizing the existence of information asymmetry in export markets and the use of signals to distinguish high-qualified sellers from low-qualified sellers, this study investigates the effects of signal consistency and signal clarity on exporter credibility, and subsequently, importer relationship intention.

Methodology: Using a survey data set collected from a systematic sample of 418 Vietnamese importers, the authors tested a model hypothesizing the impact of signal consistency and signal clarity on exporter credibility, and subsequently, on importer relationship intention.

Findings: The authors found that signal consistency and clarity have a positive impact on exporter credibility. Signal consistency also enhances the level of signal clarity. They also found that exporter credibility underlies importer relationship intension.

Research Implications: Under the condition of information asymmetry, importers face difficulties in identifying and evaluating the best supplier among available suppliers in order to make the most appropriate selection decision. The findings confirm that signal clarity and consistency can help exporters to overcome such problems. Exporters should ensure that all signals sent to importers are clear and consistent over time to encourage importers to build long-term business relationships with them.

Contributions: The findings of this study add to the literature on signaling in exporter–importer relationships and can serve as an initiation for further research in the area in transitioning economies.  相似文献

PurposeNutritional information and the visibility of healthier food products inside the store are believed to be important variables in helping shoppers to make healthy choices. However, there remain gaps in our understanding of how consumers select healthy products and how they include complex nutritional information in the decision-making process, in a stimuli rich environment. This research tests the impact of different combinations of stimuli (information and space management) on the selection of healthier products.MethodologyThrough a within-between subjects on-line experiment, a set of hypotheses relating different combinations of information provision (communication) and space management (shelf display) were tested for two different product categories: cereal bars and breakfast cereals. The sample comprised 249 participants within the UK.FindingsResults show that there is no single unique solution to encourage healthy food choices. The characteristics of the category, the frequency of purchase, the way products are displayed on the shelf and the complexity of the nutritional information provided matter.OriginalityThis paper enriches the literature about healthy food choice behaviours by exploring combined interventions in store.  相似文献

Abstract

Consumer concerns with the consumption of fat and cholesterol have encouraged many to seek alternatives to regular ground beef. A sample of Louisiana households was surveyed by mail to examine the willingness of consumers to purchase a blended fresh ground beef and poultry product relative to alternative ground products. Multinomial logit analysis was used to analyze the data. The important variables in the Yes versus No purchase decision for the blended product were: beef is one of the household's two most popular fresh meats, the household had consumed hamburger during the last month, the respondent had mixed the two products in the home, age, single adult head, and Caucasian. Gender, children in the household, education, presence of a homemaker, and family income were less important variables.  相似文献
