How to Arouse the Poor Students＇ Interest in English Learning

As we all know, English plays an important role in the morden society. In the future, a person who knows nothing about English will be a new ＂blindman＂ o However, English learning is a complex process. Some poor students we often called can＇ t speak a little standard English. They always also make lots of mistakes in both homework and written English. This paper finds out that one of the most important factors influcening poor students is their low interest in English learning after an investigation in junior school. Then, this paper focuses on the importance of English learning interest, and analyzes the causes of the poor students＇ low interest in English learning. Lastly. the author suggests some ways of arousing poor English learners＇ interest in the teaching process, and believe that the poor students must be changed into good students as long as the English teachers arouse their interest in English learning.

Avatar-based learning in Second Life

Over the years, Second Life has provided ways for the world of academia to put creativity lending to immersive education, distance learning, knowledge sharing, faculty networking and many other ways to enhance the collective educational community＇s efforts in the real world. The success of such projects within Second Life can be credited to many innovative educators, academics and students who have chosen to utilize Second Life in education. Second Life was honored at the 59th Annual Technology ＆ Engineering Emmy Awards for advancing the development of online sites with user-generated content in 2008. Second Life is an open platform where information is generally freely available to all residents. This freedom is a mixed blessing. While on the one hand, free and open content promote creativity through what is known as ＂derivative works＂, which means work based on something someone has done previously, on the other hand it has a tendency of not crediting people properly for original innovative work. This research aims to investigate perceptions of using and continuance decisions of using Second Life Virtual Classroom as learning tools in the existing life. The research will use web based questionnaire to gather respondents. Particularly, the questionnaire surveys participants＇ perceptions of the usefulness, ease of use, perceived value, perceived quality, satisfaction, and expectation of Second Life Virtual Classroom as learning tools and their intention to re-use Second Life Virtual Classroom in education. It also questions the factors that influence participants＇ perceptions.

The Budget System of Transnational Investment and its Measuring Model

This paper presents a budget system of transnational investment and its measuring model. In making a capital budget of a transnational corporation＇s direct investment to a foreign country, many economic and financial factors both of the home country and the host country have to be taken into consideration. We divide the budget system into four sub-systems： the original investment sub-system, the project＇s profit ＆ loss plan sub-system, the cash flow budget sub-system and the capital budget evaluation sub-system. In the sub-system of project＇s profit ＆ loss plan, we make four models in accordance with the project＇s process. They are the exchange rate forecast models, the sales forecast model; the cost forecast model and the profit ＆ loss plan model. We inspect the cash flow budget from two angles, i.e. from the parent company＇s angle and from the subsidiary＇s angle. Similarly we also evaluate the whole capital budget both from the project＇s and from the parent company＇s angle. Our research provides a complete measuring model of transnational investment budget system.     

Restriction of cost of capital＇s property right and financing preference of listed companies

Opposite to the financing preference of creditor＇s rights in western firms, Chinese listed companies obviously have the financing preference of shareholding. This paper uses the theory of property for reference, and redefines the concept of cost of capital in a higher level, and considers it as the property of investors. Through a mathematics model, the author analyzes that how restriction of cost of capital＇s property right makes influence on the financing preference of firms, and considers that it is the restriction of cost or the imperfect cost of capital＇s property right that influences the financing cost of shareholding and creditor＇s rights, hence, determining the financing preference of listed companies. In other words, it is the restriction of cost of capital＇s property right that causes the financing preference of creditor＇s rights in western firms, and the imperfect cost of capital＇s property right is the reason for the financing preference of shareholding of Chinese listed companies.

Global Production Network and the Upgrading of China＇s Integrated Circuit Industry

Using an analytical framework of the global production network （GPN）, the present paper examines the external environment and the internal dynamics of China＇s integrated circuit （IC） industry. We analyze the transition of China＇s IC industry from a state-led integrated device manufacturers＇ model to deeper integration into the GPN. We also explore the technological sources, the upgrading dynamics as well as the positioning of different nodes of China＇s IC industry in the GPN. We conclude that the ＂East Asia model＇＂ of gradual industrial upgrading might not apply anymore in the new era of GPN. High-technology industries can now be upgraded based on a parallel evolution model. Policy implications for China＇s high-technology industrial upgrading strategies are drawn from our analysis.     

The value of Subtitles in second language general comprehension——Literuare review

As second language learning becomes popular,various strategies to improve the learning process have been suggested.One of them includes the implantation of audiovisual materials(video authentic materials),which then leads to a discussion of subtitle usage and the value of subtitles in second language learning.This essay focuses on searching for literature that suggests the value of subtitles,especially teletext subtitles,in improving second language learning.This was achieved by reviewing relevant research and experiments.The results suggested that even though uncertainty remained on what kind of materials fit what level of learners,in general,subtitles,especially teletext subtitles,were seen as a beneficial tool in developing learners’ listening abilities and skills.
