2006 is the fifth anniversary of China’s WTO Accession．As we have seen,China's for- eign trade has witnessed rapid development．We now have to be aware of some potential difficul- ties:trade surplus has increased greatly,the ex- change reserve has increased steeply,which has imposed great pressure on China's foreign trade polices and exchange policies;the unbalanced internationaltrade will continue;the RMB also faces appreciation;etc．Therefore,what foreign trade developments will occur in 20077? 60 Years of China＇s Foreign Trade

China＇s foreign trade in March witnessed a monthly trade deficit according to its national Customs data. It was the first time for China to have a trade deficit after 70 months of continuous trade surplus, since May 2004.

Ghina has got involved in a series of international trade conflicts during the recent period which have affected China‘s economic and trade profits overwhelmingly. ＂Most Difficult Year＂ Sino-Russian Bilateral Trade in 2009

Since the meeting between Rajiv Gandhi and Deng Xiaoping more than 20 years ago, China and India, have been seeking to reach a wider range of cooperative relationship. In 2008, the trade volume reached US$52 billion, making China becoming India＇s largest goods trade partner, while India became China＇s tenth largest trading partner. According to Chinese customs statistics, in November 2009, Sino-Indian bilateral trade volume reached US$3.972 billion, up 37.9% comparing the same period of last year. This is the first positive growth that the trade volume has declined continually since January in 2009.     

Foreign Trade Requires Balanced International Payment

The continuous huge trade surplus has caused unbalanced international payment. In 2006, the trade surplus reached US177.6 billion. This has had a negative impact on the country＇s foreign trade development, and is therefore a detriment to the healthy development of the national economy, The government has attached great importance to this issue, and is ready to take effective measures to deal with it.     

China's Foreign Trade Got Good Performance

At present,due to the severe global COVID-19 pandemic,changes that used to take a century to happen have sped up,while the global environment is becoming more complex and uncertain.In 2021,China’s foreign trade had good performance.According to the data from the General Administration of Customs,in 2021 China’s foreign trade,both imports and exports grew quickly,topping USD 5 trillion and USD 6 trillion in one year,and reaching a new record high.Meanwhile,the quality of China’s foreign trade was improving steadily,making a good start for the foreign trade industry during the 14th Five-Year Plan period.
