Universities play a central role within society and should provide high quality services to students. Therefore, a careful evaluation of university services is necessary. This evaluation is complex because it involves many partial aspects and can be assessed through a composite indicator. In this paper, we propose a simple method for reducing the number of partial aspects underlying a composite indicator. A practical application to data from a sample survey conducted on the last year students of the University of Padova is discussed. This survey considered the quality of many services, lecture rooms, library services, computer classrooms, reading rooms in libraries, study rooms, structure of exams, student socialization, reached skills and so forth. The method has been compared with principal component analysis. The results show that our method is worthy of consideration as it is markedly simpler to be applied than the other dimension reduction methods and requires milder assumptions.  相似文献

高校后勤服务外包是高校后勤社会化改革的重要形式。本文针对高校后勤社会化改革中的服务外包问题,以D大学为例,采用问卷调查等方法,剖析了高校后勤社会化改革中的服务外包实体财务情况及其服务满意度,结果发现,D大学部分服务型实体外包会导致服务满意度下降等弊端。基于案例分析,本文兼顾高校后勤服务外包中普遍存在的产权不清晰及代理风险等问题,最终构建了基于分类管理与部分外包的高校后勤服务外包框架。这对中国高校后勤社会化改革的服务外包实践提供了参考和借鉴。  相似文献

  • The primary objectives of this exploratory paper are to test the concept of market orientation adapted from related literature in the education context and to examine the effects of market orientation as a second‐order factor on university student satisfaction. The revised scale, validated through exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis, constitutes a good fit. Specifically, the new scale is statistically and positively related with student satisfaction, indicating that market orientation is an important factor that leads to higher student satisfaction. The findings show that the degree to which students are satisfied with their choice of university depends significantly on how market oriented the university is. In other words, the effective application of market orientation strategy relates to student satisfaction and to the decisions they make when selecting a university. To that end, market orientation is an option for universities to adopt. The empirical results add to the meager and emerging literature on marketing and branding of universities and will be of interest of university administrators and marketing and branding managers of universities. The paper concludes by discussing conclusions, implications, limitations, and future research.

创业扶持政策对大学生创业企业的产生与发展具有重大影响。然而,目前侧重于缓解大学生就业压力的创业扶持政策并不利于大学生创业企业的生存与发展,且严重破坏了大学生与其他非大学生创业者之间的公平竞争。应当对现行创业扶持政策进行反思,重新确定政策目标,完善创业扶持政策体系,建立创业失败者救助制度,将政策支持功能延伸到创业后期甚至是二次、三次创业阶段,并与其他中小企业扶持政策、法律形成紧密的衔接。  相似文献

The Covid-19 pandemic played a relevant role in the diffusion of distance learning alternatives to “traditional” learning based on classroom activities, to allow university students to continue attending lessons during the most severe phases of the pandemic. In such a context, investigating the students' perspective on distance learning provides useful information to stakeholders to improve effective educational strategies, which could be useful also after the end of the emergency to favor the digital transformation in the higher educational setting.Here we focus on the satisfaction in distance learning for Italian university students. We rely on data comprising students enrolled in various Italian universities, which were inquired about several aspects related to learning distance.We explicitly take into account the hierarchical nature of data (i.e., students nested in universities) and the latent nature of the variable of interest (i.e., students' learning satisfaction) through a multilevel Item Response Theory model with students' and universities' covariates.As the main results of our study, we find out that distance learning satisfaction of students: (i) depends on the University where they study; (ii) is affected by some students' socio-demographic characteristics, among which psychological factors related to Covid-19; (iii) is affected by some observable university characteristics.  相似文献

The implementation of year-round operation has often been suggested as a means for accommodating additional demand for student admissions at a university campus of fixed capacity. However, because the student flow process at a university has not been well understood, many institutions have been disappointed to find the actual benefits resulting from the addition of a regular summer program of instruction to be far less than they had expected. This paper demonstrates that, due to established patterns of student attendance, a reasonable expectation of a change to year-round operation is that the undergraduate admission rate will increase by 5 per cent when enrollment is held fixed. Moreover, the summer term will attract only one-third as many undergraduate students as are enrolled during the regular academic year. These computations assume that no attempt is made to exert control over student attendance patterns.A queueing model is developed that relates the admission rate to the proportion of students who belong to various cohorts with common workload requirements and attendance patterns. Data gathered at the University of California, Berkeley campus is used to estimate these proportions for a campus which offers a year-round program. From these estimates are derived values for the overall admission rate and the ratio of summer enrollment to average nonsummer enrollment. These values are then compared with those obtained for a campus of like size which does not offer a year-round program of instruction. The paper concludes that, unless an institution is willing to exert control over student attendance patterns, university year-round operation is probably not economical in a society which places heavy emphasis on the summer as a time when students should vacation or take temporary jobs.  相似文献

Networks are recognized as a central component of the entrepreneurial process, in particular with regard to opportunity identification and exploitation. In this study, we specifically analyze the role of mentors who are in business as opportunity brokers and enablers among university students with entrepreneurial intentions. Our investigation on 1022 students from 13 French-language universities based in Canada, France, Belgium and Algeria indicates that mentors in business, contrary to other mentors, support opportunity identification and exploitation among university students. Although student gender, entrepreneurial experience and education have a more pronounced effect, mentoring is the only element that can be controlled for through the creation of formal support programs. These results call on public authorities, and universities in particular, to implement formal mentoring programs to support students who are interested in starting their own business, and who would not otherwise have access to business mentors in their environment.  相似文献

随着BOT项目公司参与高校基础设施项目运营的情况日益增加,对在校大学生的管理出现教育主体缺位的现象日趋严重。目前,对于高等教育投资主体多元化情况下的这一新问题尚无深入的研究成果。现运用利益相关者理论,通过紧密性和权力性两个维度对高等教育管理的利益相关者进行了分类,并对实施BOT项目公司和高校对大学生的联合教育和共同管理模式的必要性进行了论述,进而构建了基于高等教育管理价值网的合作管理模式,并对实施合作管理模式进行了策略分析。研究表明:高校学生公寓合作管理模式的核心是打造价值创造平台,通过项目公司和高校的联合教育,发挥各成员的核心能力,使得在校大学生的核心价值不断增长,从而实现各个利益相关者满意度的最大化。研究成果不仅为高校BOT项目的开展和实施提供了理论指导,也为大学生的培养工作开拓了新思路。  相似文献

Many studies have examined the factors that influence academic performance in primary and secondary education as well as at university, with the purpose of enhancing learning at these stages and reducing drop-out rates. It is within this research framework that we want to emphasise the deficient performance of students enrolled on the statistics course in the Faculty of Psychology at the University of Barcelona. Consequently, this paper attempts to determine the factors that affect student performance in this subject by undertaking an analysis of a structural equation model and determining its stability over time. In order to accomplish our objective, we worked with two samples of students enrolled statistics classes. The first group comprised 211 students enrolled in the academic year 2000–2001, while the second comprised 287 students enrolled in the academic year 2001–2002. By administering a questionnaire, we obtained information concerning such variables as demographic data, previous academic record, information related to the subject and the degree of satisfaction with it, and the final mark obtained by the students in the subject. The parameters for each group of students were estimated separately and the goodness of fit of the proposed structural model was assessed. The data analysis showed a good fit with both data bases, but the set of estimated parameters differed in the two academic years under consideration.  相似文献
