浅议企业局域网的构建

信息化是企业加快发展的重要助力器已经成为企业管理者的共识,本文从系统设计标准、系统设计架构、实施方案等三个方面全面阐述了企业局域网的建设。     

法学专业学生职业能力培养之路径探索

我国法学高等教育无法满足法律职业的要求,这是我国法学教育的现实,也是我国与西方法学教育差距最明显的地方。面对就业和法学教育质量提升的双重压力,明确法学教育的职业性导向,培养学生法律职业技能是大学法学教育无法回避的问题。笔者作为多年的一线教师,并结合律师工作实务,总结出数据库教学法,在提升法学学生法律职业能力方面作出了有益尝试。     

Is FDI doing good? A golden rule for FDI ethics

Ethical and economic perspectives on foreign direct investment (FDI) often appear in opposing frameworks. To combat this antagonism, this research proposes a consolidation between foreign private wealth and general welfare in host countries. The first contribution of this study is to provide a comprehensive conceptual approach to the study of FDI ethics. The second key contribution is to present empirical analysis of the differential influence of the level of democratic rights on foreign employment, new projects, and FDI capital flows. Results suggest that FDI incentivizes general welfare in least developed countries with high degrees of volatility. Additionally, policymakers face a dilemma in which democracy and legal rights seem to be mutually incompatible with fostering foreign employment. Practitioners find a way to evaluate the ethical implications of international business activities. The study analyzes FDI data from 161 countries between 2003 and 2010 by means of the FDI gravity equation.

Sustaining relationships after opportunism and misunderstanding: the role of formalization and socialization

This study compares the effects of governance mechanisms on relationship continuity in the aftermath of exchange interruptions in interfirm relationships. We propose that cooperative relationships can be renewed by matching governance mechanisms (formalization or socialization) to specific types of exchange interruptions (opportunism and misunderstanding). Using data collected from two types of senior managers in 304 buyer firms in China (a total of 608 senior managers), we found that the effects of formalization and socialization on relationship continuity are contingent on exchange interruption type. Socialization is more effective than formalization in renewing relationships when the level of opportunism is high, while formalization works better than socialization when the level of misunderstanding is high. Based on our findings, we encourage firms to diagnose exchange interruption types and then choose a proper governance structure.     

Consumer Concern About Food Safety and Its Impact on Their Familiarity With Food Traceability Systems in China

Consumer familiarity is critical in the promotion of food traceability systems. The authors used consumer survey data from four cities in China to conduct a quantitative investigation of consumer concern about food safety and its impact on the consumers’ familiarity with food traceability systems. Statistical analysis and a Probit model were used, and the results show a high level of consumer concern about food safety. In contrast, consumers’ familiarity with food traceability systems is very low. Consumers’ concern about food safety significantly influences their familiarity with food traceability systems. In addition, consumers’ age, work experiences related to the food industry, and habit of asking for food receipts or invoices all have significant influences on their familiarity with food traceability systems.     

Internal and external drivers for quality certification in the service industry: Do they have different impacts on success?

This paper presents the results of a study of hotels that are certified for quality management to identify the reasons for seeking quality certification. The authors analyse whether internal or external drivers for seeking certification have different impacts on benefits and the use of quality tools in the hotel industry. The analysis groups hotels according to the importance of their internal reasons for certification, and uses cluster analysis to identify the significant differences between groups of hotels. The findings for the 32 hotels analysed show that hotels that pursued certification for internal reasons develop better quality tools and have increased levels of benefits.     

Boards and Sustainability: the Contingent Influence of Director Interlocks on Corporate Environmental Performance

This paper highlights the importance of a firm's board with respect to sustainability issues by analysing the relationship between director interlocks, i.e. directors who simultaneously belong to the boards of directors of several companies, and a firm's environmental performance. The previous literature has focused on the influence of firm‐level resources on corporate environmental performance. This study utilizes insights from a resource‐based view and research on social capital to demonstrate that the environmental performance of a firm is also influenced by the difficult‐to‐imitate capabilities that are embedded in the network relationships of its directors. Our results support a contingency perspective of the social capital theory that finds that director interlocks are positively connected with the environmental performance of a firm in two specific situations: (1) when the firm is linked to a larger parent company and (2) in cases of low and high levels of interlock diversity. 开设大学英语选修课的意义和策略研究

在全球化背景下,社会需要具备专业英语素养和英语实际应用能力的人才,基于社会需求和个人需求,大学英语教学要与时俱进的改变现有的英语课程体系,在通用英语基础上开设选修课程。但目前大学英语选修课的开设却存在着诸多问题,如:课程设置问题、教材选用的问题、教学问题、师资队伍的问题等。学校、教师、学生要提升认识,共同努力推进大学英语选修课改革的深化。
