International capital and nontraded goods in the long run

The present paper develops the comparative static properties of a small open economy which produces both traded goods and nontraded goods, and is a price taker in the international market for productive capital. Assumptions of full employment, competitive markets, and international mobility of productive cap ital input capture a long run horizon. Comparative static results associated with the wage, labor, and the price of the nontraded good are independent of factor intensity, factor substitution, and demand for the nontraded good. A tax on the traded good and a capital subsidy together raise national income and the real wage.     

Capital in the Twenty-First Century: Reinterpreting the fundamental contradiction of capitalism

At a theoretical level this article discusses Piketty’s hypothesis that the distribution of income and wealth tends to become more concentrated over time when the rate of return on capital is greater than the growth rate of real output. We develop a post Keynesian model of growth and distribution showing that once capital is differentiated from wealth, the increase in income and wealth concentration actually occurs when the rate of valorization of financial and real estate assets is greater than the growth rate of real output, and that this situation may be triggered by financial liberalization.     

Abdominal MR imaging following antegrade air introduction into the intestinal loops

Air was used to distend the gastrointestinal tract and act as a contrast medium to effectively delineate the other abdominal organs/masses and to outline intraluminal or mural lesions. We used a nasogastric tube to introduce air into the stomach. Metoclopramide was administered to propel air throughout the gastrointestinal tract. Bowel peristalsis was then controlled by scopolamine butylbromide. Most of the alimentary tract could be distended by air. The normal bowel walls were barely visible between intraluminal signal-void air and extraluminal high-signal fat. Intraluminal tumor, wall thickening, and adjacent structures could be clearly delineated.
