Neo-protectionism and economic growth

The world economy is threatening to find itself in a vicious circle of escalating protectionism. Franz Peter Lang explains the dangers and consequences of this. Gary Banks argues that the “new protectionism” is not so much a temporary by-product of the recession as the external manifestation of internal domestic struggles between vested interests and the public interest, and pleads for the establishment of a “transparency institution”.     

AGENT BANK BEHAVIOR IN BANK LOAN SYNDICATIONS

Using Shared National Credit (SNC) Program data from 1995 to 2000, we extend previous empirical work on bank loan syndications. First, we examine recent trends in the volume and examiner‐based credit quality of loans syndicated through the banking system. Second, we estimate a panel regression model to explain changes in an agent bank's retained share of a syndicated loan in terms of information asymmetries, loan credit quality, capital constraints, and loan age and maturity. We find that these variables are significant determinants of the proportion of a SNC loan retained by an agent bank for its portfolio over time.

Employment Flexibility,Dual Labour Markets,Growth, and Distribution

Many policymakers and economists have argued in favour of greater labour market flexibility as a part of structural adjustment reforms that are expected to improve economic performance. Existing post‐Keynesian‐Kaleckian (PKK) models are unable to address these issues because they assume away long‐term labour by allowing employment to be short term and adjusting freely with output. This paper introduces long‐term labour into PKK models. We develop a model that provides alternative ways of modelling labour market flexibility and suggest that when aggregate demand issues are important, an increase in employment flexibility is likely to have adverse growth and distributional impacts.

多载频相位编码雷达通信一体化研究

为了最大程度地利用资源和减小电磁干扰,电子战平台的雷达通信一体化设计有着尤为重要的意义。针对通信中成熟应用且在雷达中有较好前景的正交多载频波形,提出直接序列扩频正交频分复用（OFDM）进行雷达通信一体化的想法。给出了实现方法,重点对该一体化信号模糊函数进行求解和分析,指出增加子载波数目信号分辨性能更佳;随机的信息流仅对模糊函数的邻道干扰项造成影响,为进一步优化一体化信号旁瓣性能提供了理论依据。最终的仿真结果和性能分析表明,该一体化信号能够实现雷达通信一体化的目的。
