This paper takes three important preliminary steps towards the development of undergraduate curricula in entrepreneurship. First, it provides one of the first analyses comparing the entrepreneurship education standards proposed by the Consortium for Entrepreneurship Education and the European Commission’s Education and Training in Entrepreneurship initiative. Next, it presents an analysis of results of a workshop of entrepreneurship educators regarding development of an undergraduate entrepreneurship standard for business schools. With these two elements in place, the paper makes recommendations for model undergraduate entrepreneurship curricula for majors and concentrations, and concludes with a discussion of the issues in developing and implementing model curricula in a manner consistent with emerging standards in US business schools.  相似文献

This paper demonstrates that it is possible to jointly produce household surveys and field experiments by incorporating field experiments into the structure of the financial incentives used to enhance response rates. This paper uses event methodology to examine the impact of common stock repurchases on the repurchasing firm's common stock returns, including examination of various subsamples to test the effects of size and purpose of repurchase. Although the market reacts positively to general repurchase announcements, it reacts negatively to those repurchases used to fend off takeover attempts and does not react at all to stock repurchases for employee stock option plan (ESOP) purposes.  相似文献

This paper describes benefits and costs of MRP systems based on a large survey of MRP users. These users report they have achieved significant improvements in inventory turnover, delivery performance, and other benefits, and that further improvements are expected when their MRP systems are fully implemented. A series of regression models are also described in the paper which explain why some companies achieve more benefits from MRP than others. The models are not only fitted to the sample data, but they obtain good predictive results on a holdout sample. These models indicate that companies should stress a broad approach to implementation; there is no one overriding factor which guarantees MRP success.  相似文献

. The importance of increasing innovation and improvement in support of national priorities and goals is commonly stated, and such importance is, in the main, agreed upon. Conventional wisdom relies heavily upon competition and direct incentives to be the driving force for innovation and improvement. The data presented herein argues in favor of increasing competition by encouraging new producers, socalled ‘new Boys,’ to enter a specific technological application area. This suggests that a ‘new boy’ policy judiciously applied would increase the rate of change of improvement and of innovation and probably would reduce the costs per unit improvement. We present analyses drawn from a single industry over a period of approximately twenty-five years. The study analyzes 237 projects drawn from ten corporations and points to the effects of the ‘new boy’ phenomena at all sections of the technology curve.  相似文献

An ordered probit model is used to measure racial discrimination in the rental housing market for the Detroit metropolitan area during the 1980s. Racial differences persist in (1) rental units suggested to the homeseekers, (2) units actually inspected by them, (3) rental terms and conditions quoted, (4) information on the neighborhood amenities, and (5) qualifications of the homeseekers, but they appear to be declining over time. Agent prejudices and racial composition of neighborhoods in which rental units are located are significant in explaining discrimination.  相似文献
