Corporate Social Responsibility as a Vehicle to Reveal the Corporate Identity: A Study Focused on the Websites of Spanish Financial Entities 总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
This study explores the relevance of corporate social responsibility (CSR) as an element of the corporate identity of Spanish
financial institutions. Specifically, it aims to analyze the CSR actions developed by financial entities through the analysis
of all the available information disclosed in their websites. A content analysis applied to 82 banking institutions, followed
by different quantitative analyses, reveals the multidimensionality of CSR. Findings show that, while the number of entities
institutionalizing CSR values as core elements of their identities is still reduced, most organizations disclose CSR information
to construct communicated identities and legitimate behaviours. Besides, these dimensions are classified depending on the
stakeholder the action is aimed to, and that entities favour the generation of distinctive identities through the implementation
and communication of more visible CSR actions like those involving their customers or the community. In any case, results
indicate that organizations with certain characteristics are more likely to construct distinctive identities through CSR activities
and to establish ethical and social values within their corporate statements and cultures. 相似文献

This research aims to understand the process of cars' disposal, its context, its influences and its impacts on the meanings for consumers and their identities, as well as the new behaviours of these consumers when living without their car(s). We conducted, analysed and interpreted 20 in‐depth interviews with consumers that had previously owned at least one car and had no financial reasons for disposing of their car(s), but had decided to do it, and started to live without them, adopting alternative methods of transportation. Our findings show that these consumers faced a complicated process regarding the disposal of their car(s) but, due to the changes in their circumstances, they re‐signified relevant concepts that were connected to the ownership of a car: Their perception of freedom, comfort, safety and status changed during and after the disposal of their car(s). We also noticed that there were implications in terms of changes in their attitudes and behaviour as both citizens and consumers. As a contribution to the literature, our findings indicate that the re‐signifying of concepts related to possession of the object as well as changes in attitudes and behaviours that consumers undergo in the postdisposal stage, must be included in the model proposed for evaluating consumer behaviour in product disposal. 相似文献

This paper evaluates the impact of Brazil's National Program to Strengthen Family Farming (PRONAF) on the time allocation of household members. We use data from the 2014 Pesquisa Nacional por Amostra de Domicílios, and we apply propensity score methods to complex surveys recently recommended in the literature. We find that PRONAF helps to increase focus on agricultural activities, but it also stimulates female partners to engage in unpaid work. The results show significant effects of PRONAF on child labor and on the gender‐specific division of labor within households, although it does not have the usual adverse effects of rural credit programs on school attendance. 相似文献

Given the importance in recent years of the phenomenon of academic entrepreneurship in European universities, knowledge about
determinants and performance of this technology transfer mechanism may have important managerial and policy implications.
Applying the resource-based view at universities, we have tested the influence of five bundles of resources and capabilities
on spin-off activity rates as well as on the performance of new spin-offs in a sample of seven European universities. These
five bundles are: technology transfer policies and strategies; human capital; stock of technology; resources and capabilities
of technology transfer offices; and support measures for academic entrepreneurship. Our results show that excellence of human
capital and the presence of university-based financial support measures are strongly associated with both spin-off activity
and performance. Another interesting finding is related to the availability of university-based non-economic support measures
(training, counselling, etc.), which have no influence on spin-off activity but are significantly associated with performance

The identification of the entrepreneurs’ characteristics and the knowledge of the entrepreneurial profile of university students
have been assuming a growing importance in the development of educational programs directed towards the entrepreneurship and
start-up processes. This study aims to identify the factors that most contribute for the intention to start up a business.
The research also tries to identify the profile of a potential entrepreneur student concerning several characteristics: personal
attributes, family, demographic variables and motivations. Research findings include the idea that entrepreneurship education
is the most relevant factor in what concerns the propensity to business creation. On the other side, personal characteristics
have an important role in shaping motivation to start-up a business and perceived hurdles have a negative impact in the intention
to start-up. The results may be relevant when developing an adequate educational program directed to the entrepreneurship

Many corporations reward their outside directors with a modest fee for each board meeting they attend. Using a large panel data set on director attendance behavior in publicly-listed firms for the period 1996–2003, we provide robust evidence that directors are less likely to have attendance problems at board meetings when board meeting fees are higher. This is surprising since meeting fees, on average roughly $1,000, represent an arguably small fraction of the total wealth of a representative director in our sample. Thus, corporate directors appear to perform for even very small financial rewards. 相似文献

We investigate whether cross-listing in the U.S. affects the information environment for non-U.S. stocks. Our findings suggest cross-listing has an asymmetric impact on stock price informativeness around the world, as measured by firm-specific stock return variation. Cross-listing improves price informativeness for developed market firms. For firms in emerging markets, however, cross-listing decreases price informativeness. The added analyst coverage associated with cross-listing likely explains the findings in emerging markets, rather than changes in liquidity, ownership, or accounting quality. Our results indicate that the added analyst coverage fosters the production of marketwide information, rather than firm-specific information. 相似文献
