We employ Eurobarometer data on trust in the ECB, exploring whether trust is affected by sovereign credit rating episodes and the participation in economic adjustment programmes (EAPs) (bailout schemes). Controlling for several sociodemographic factors and macroeconomic conditions, we document a substantial negative impact on trust in ECB for countries experiencing downgrade episodes and participating in EAPs. 相似文献

Stock exchanges are in a unique position to promote ESG transparency and leverage their institutional capacity to build more sustainable capital markets. To facilitate the quick uptake of material ESG disclosure and raise the quality and comparability of the data, the Athens Stock Exchange has created ESG guidelines for listed companies that will be published in the summer of 2019. One important feature of the guidelines is their degree of sectoral specificity and emphasis on materiality. The guidelines and supporting metrics they propose are based on reporting practices endorsed by international sustainability standards like the SASB's industry standards. This materiality‐oriented approach will help issuers focus on the sustainability value drivers inherent in their business, and so ensure that corporate ESG disclosures satisfy the demand of investors for comparable quantitative and accounting metrics that help companies communicate their commitment to long‐term value creation. 相似文献

We comment on a recent important article by Akbay et al. anddiscuss some methodological and estimation issues arising fromtheir paper. We then suggest alternative procedures that mayhelp improve their estimates and thereby enhance their usefulnessas a basis for food policy and marketing decisions. 相似文献

The European Union (EU) is contemplating regulations requiring mandatory provision of nutritional information on food products. This study analyses consumers' valuation of nutritional information using data collected from a field survey. The results generally suggest that consumers value and are willing to pay about 5.9 percent of the original price for nutritional information on the food product we studied. Individuals who are non-price-sensitive, nutritionally knowledgeable and with longer time horizon are willing to pay more for nutritional information than others. Considering consumers' willingness to pay for nutritional information on food products and an EU impact assessment study, the costs of provision of this information are not prohibitive to firms. We estimate that the least conservative cost of labelling to the firm for a specific food product can be as much as €29,431, whereas the average economic value of nutrition information is estimated at €17,064. The firm can therefore recoup the associated costs in less than two months. 相似文献

The article uses information from the 1993–1994 Household Consumption Survey and the semiparametric quantile regression approach to analyze the demand for three macronutrients (carbohydrates, proteins, and fats) and three micronutrients (minerals, vitamins, and cholesterol) in Greece. According to the empirical results the age of the household head, the degree of urbanization, the percentage of food expenditure devoted to food away‐from‐home, and the per capita consumption expenditure affect the intakes of nutrients across all the five quantiles considered. The impact, however, of the household head's gender and the impact of his (her) educational achievement are located only at the lower and the higher quantiles, respectively. The expenditure elasticities are substantially lower than unity, suggesting inelastic responses of nutrient intakes to per capita consumption expenditure. 相似文献

The uneven regional distribution of foreign direct investment (FDI) in Turkey poses an interesting question from the perspective of multinational firms (MNFs) and policy-makers alike. This paper focuses on the factors governing the location decisions of MNFs within Turkey with specific reference to policy implications. Using a conditional logit model, it is found that agglomeration, depth of local financial markets, human capital, and coastal access dominate location decisions for the aggregate sample of foreign investors in Turkey. This study reveals no evidence that public investment is successful in attracting MNFs to particular regions. Also importantly, the location determinants vary dramatically by broad industrial category, investment composition, and origin-country characteristics, including income category and region. 相似文献

Foreign exchange earnings are vital for developmental efforts, particularly in the industrial sector. However, Greece's visible exports alone do not generate sufficient income for such purposes, thus providing a strong justification for blending tourism into the country's general economic development strategy. From a development perspective, foreign exchange earnings are only one aspect of the total economic picture; eg the development of an export industry has varying repercussions on income, employment and other economic activity. The extent of these effects will vary according to the linkages between industrial sectors. This article assesses the importance of tourism to the Greek economy in terms of its impact on foreign exchange earnings and the balance of payments. Tourism's contribution to gross domestic product, employment and other economic activity is also examined. 相似文献

Understanding the make-or-buy process is increasingly important to industrial marketers and researchers. Yet, there is a lack of research dealing with organizational participants in this process. Drawing on existing theories, this study investigates the degree of involvement of key organizational participants in the make-or-buy process as well as the impact of contextual variables. The research involved 10 depth company interviews followed by 85 completed mail questionnaires. Results indicate that the technical function, the production function, the financial function, and an ad hoc make-or-buy committee are mainly involved in the make-or-buy process. Moreover, organizational participants in make-or-buy issues vary considerably among companies, depending on organizational characteristics (size, operations technology) as well as on characteristics of the item/service under make-or-buy investigation (type, commercial uncertainty). Theoretical and managerial implications of the findings are discussed along with suggestions for future research. 相似文献

The detection of multicollinearity in econometric models is usualy based on the so-called condition number (CN) of the data
matrix X. However, the computation of the CN, which is the greater condition index, gives misleading results in particular cases and
many commercial computer packages produce an inflated CN, even in cases of spurious multicollinearity, i.e. even if no collinearity
exists when the explanatory variables are considered. And this is due to the very low total variation of some columns of the
transformed data matrix, which is used to compute CN. On the other hand, we may have the problem of latent multocollinearity
which can be revealed by additionally computing a revised CN. With all these in mind, we figure out the ill-conditioned situations,
suggesting some practical rules of thumb to face such problems using a single diagnostic in a fairly simple procedure. It
is noted that this procedure is not mentioned in the relevant literature. 相似文献
