This research extends our understanding of the automaticity of phonetic symbolism judgments for adults and children. Replicating Study 2 from Yorkston and Menon (2004), we demonstrate that phonetic-based inferences are automatic and relatively effortless for adults, but not for children. Phonetic symbolism effects have a developmental grounding, with initial phonetic-based judgments not present in younger children (6 to 9 years). Older children (10 to 13 years), however, demonstrate phonetic-based effects only when cognitive constraints are not imposed. 相似文献

The Role of Identity Salience in the Effects of Corporate Social Responsibility on Consumer Behavior
Based on the assumption that consumers will reward firms for their support of social programs, many organizations have adopted
corporate social responsibility (CSR) practices. Drawing on social identity theory, a model of influence of CSR on loyalty
is developed and tested using a sample of real consumers. Results demonstrate that CSR initiatives are linked to stronger
loyalty both because the consumer develops a more positive company evaluation, and because one identifies more strongly with
the company. Moreover, identity salience is shown to play a crucial role in the influence of CSR initiatives on consumer loyalty
when this influence occurs through consumer-company identification. A strong identifier is not necessarily in a constant state
of salience, but activating identity salience of a particular consumer social identity (a company) will affect consumer reactions
to product stimuli, increasing consumer loyalty. 相似文献

The Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) aims to improve cross‐border infrastructure to reduce transportation costs across a massive geographical area between China and Europe. We estimate how much trade might be created among Belt and Road (B&R) countries as a consequence of the reduction in transportation costs (both railway and maritime) and find that European Union countries, especially landlocked countries, will benefit considerably. This is also true for Eastern Europe and Central Asia and, to a lesser extent, South‐East Asia. In contrast, if China were to seek to establish a free trade area within the B&R region, EU member states would benefit less, while Asia would benefit more. Xi Jinping's current vision for the B&R, centered on improving transport infrastructure, is advantageous for Europe as far as trade creation is concerned. 相似文献

We present a model of executive‐legislative bargaining over appointments to independent central banks in the face of an uncertain economy with strategic economic actors. The model highlights the contrast between two idealized views of Federal Reserve appointments. In one view, politicians prefer to appoint conservatively biased central bankers to overcome credible commitment problems that arise in monetary policy. In the other, politicians prefer to appoint allies, and appointments are well described by the spatial model used to describe appointments to other agencies. Both ideals are limiting cases of our model, which depend on the level of economic uncertainty. When economic uncertainty is extremely low, politicians prefer very conservative appointments. When economic uncertainty increases, politicians’ prefer central bank appointees closer to their own ideal points. In the typical case, the results are somewhere in between: equilibrium appointments move in the direction of politician's preferences but with a moderate conservative bias. 相似文献

Conclusion This note has examined interest rate and monetary base linkages within the EMS. Cointegration tests suggest the existence
of a long-run equilibrium relationship between German and other EMS interest rates and German and other EMS country monetary
bases in a number of cases. Bivariate VAR analysis suggested that Granger causality with respect to EMS interest rate linkages
stemmed either from German to European markets or was bi-directional and that the monetary base linkages were overwhelmingly
bi-directional. When allowance is made for the influence of US monetary policy developments, the pattern of Granger causality
within the EMS is predominantly bi-directional. These findings may be attributable to integrated financial markets and the
discipline of a formal exchange rate mechanism. Thus, our results fail to support the hypothesis that German monetary policy
plays a dominant and independent role within the EMS. Rather, they suggest that monetary policies in the EMS mainly respond
to each other and, to a very limited extent, to developments in US monetary policy. 相似文献

AbstractNetwork systems like clusters are characterized by the coexistence of relational architectures with ties and nodes of different nature. While recent research has analysed how a set of structural features shape the dynamics and effects of one cluster network, the outstanding question is to what extent such features and outcomes are influenced by the concomitance of distinct content-related linkages. This paper integrates both network and evolutionary economic geography perspectives to develop and test a model that links innovation performance with the benefits that stem from technical and business relations. Data collected in a biotech cluster in the Valencia region (Spain) demonstrate the changing effect of brokerage and overlapping ties on innovation as a function of knowledge shared. Findings extend the theoretical understanding of how knowledge diffuses in clusters and provide valuable insights for both practitioners and policy makers. 相似文献

Researchers have highlighted the importance of the nonprofit sector, its continued growth, and a relative lack of literature particularly related to nonprofit organizational values. Therefore, this study investigates organizational culture in a human services nonprofit organization. The relationship between person-organization value congruence and employee and volunteer job-related attitudes is examined (N = 227). Following initial qualitative enquiry, confirmatory factor analyses of the Competing Values Framework and additional values revealed five dimensions of organizational values. The relationship between value congruence, and employee and volunteers' job-related attitudes was examined using polynomial regression techniques. Analyses revealed that for employees, job-related attitudes were influenced strongly by organization values ratings, particularly when exceeding person ratings of the same values. For volunteers, person value ratings exceeding organization value ratings were especially detrimental to their job-related attitudes. Findings are discussed in terms of their theoretical and practical implications. 相似文献
