State ownership, firm size, and Chinese firms’ entry mode choices

Based on the strategy tripod perspective, this study intends to examine the independent and joint effects of state ownership and firm size on Chinese firms’ choices between greenfield and acquisition, and between full and partial ownership. Using secondary data of a sample of 150 firms with 473 entries, we find that state ownership and firm size independently and jointly have impacts on entry mode choices. Our findings provide some support to the strategy tripod perspective, which treats institutions as independent variables and considers strategic choices as the outcome of the interactions between institutions and organizations.     

Proactive personality and work performance in China: The moderating effects of emotional exhaustion and perceived safety climate

Grounded in the interactionist paradigm, this study shows that emotional exhaustion and perceived safety climate constitute important moderators of the relationship between proactive personality and work performance. More specifically, the study analyzes the relationship between proactive personality and its behavioural outcomes—organizational citizenship behaviour (OCB) and job performance—and investigates the interactive effects of emotional exhaustion and perceived safety climate. The study involves 485 Chinese airline employees including pilots, flight attendants, engineers, and service employees. Proactive personality positively predicted OCB and individual performance. Emotional exhaustion and perceived safety climate moderated the relationship between proactive personality and individual performance both independently and jointly. 基于单井效益评价的油田效益配产方法研究

油田优化配产是指油田企业对下属采油单位的产量、成本等进行配置,从而实现指标分解和效益最大。本文提出以单井效益评价数据为基础,在油田内部打破采油单位界限,以采油井为单元,对油田所辖的全部单井采用统一平台进行优化排序,分别以效益最大、成本最低、盈亏平衡为目标,建立配产优化模型,计算出油田公司的效益产量,再按照效益最大、成本最低的效益油井所属采油单位进行分配,从而实现油田公司的效益配产。实际应用表明,以单井效益评价为基础的油田效益配产理论和方法切实可行,为油田配产提供了新的思路,可以实现从能力配产到效益配产的转变,使油田达到最佳生产规模。

Examining the Third‐Person Effect of Baseline Omission in Numerical Comparison: The Role of Consumer Persuasion Knowledge

Marketers often use numerical comparisons in promotional claims to signal superior product offerings. A potentially misleading practice involves omitting the reference point deliberately in order to make the focal claim more appealing—a persuasion tactic referred to as “baseline omission” in the present research. In two experiments, this research demonstrates that consumers tend to perceive this tactic as more effective on others than on themselves. The self‐others difference is more salient among consumers with more persuasion knowledge. Consumers’ concerns about its effectiveness on themselves, rather than on others, better predict their supportiveness to regulate the use of baseline omission.
